A Good Father, Part I

Harper Lukowski paced down the sidewalk,
the day was done, he was on his way home.
His fried Jaquan, twenty years his junior,
chattered with him as the two did go.

They both worked at a nearby factory
manufacturing high quality knives,
the best in the land, if you ask Harper,
as a craftsman he did his work with pride.

Things were going very good that fall day,
management had just hired on twenty more,
a president who had kept to his word,
Harper had never seen that before

As he came up to his small, suburban home
he spotted his son kicking back on a chair,
asked,”So how did the job search go today?”
Said his son,”There is no need to despair.

“I’m having trouble finding work I like,
I want to enjoy it when I make my pay.
Rather than rush, I signed up for welfare,
and I just got my first check in today.”

Harper went quiet at the young man’s words,
and said,”Have you gone and lost your mind?
If you even think of cashing that check
then you are no longer a son of mine.”

His son Ted then froze, there on that spot,
a surprised look etched deeply on his face,
Harper continued,”Never did I think
you would fall so easily into disgrace.

“You think that check can do no real harm,
but I have seen the effects of the dole,
your own grandfather lived off of hand-outs,
he died a drunk, only forty years old.

“And every day I walk to my job
I see the wreckage of people on the street,
mad at the world, helpless and cruel,
devoid of the slightest dignity.

“Is that how you wish to spend you hole life,
as a dog on the government’s chain?
Voting for whoever throws you more cash,
regardless of the evils in their brains?

“Have the schools polluted your mind so much
that you can’t see any job has honor?
Will you live like a leach, draining the cash
that’s been built by the hard work of others?

“If you value your freedom and your manhood
you’ll destroy that small and unearned check,
and if you don’t then you can kiss goodbye
all your dignity and self-respect.”

Ted’s mouth hung open at this diatribe,
even Jaquan looked utterly stunned.
Ted crumpled the check and slinked away,
Jaquan said,”You were real hard on your son.”

Long Since Stopped Binge Reading Bertrand Russell Ii

Slow and methodical
thru telling material I tiresomely did wade
steeping yours truly signature
writing stock in trade
while sprawled out on bed housed within
one bedroom apartment (B44)

Highland Manor Apartments
(situated in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania
owned by Grosse and Quade),
one of the largest residential
property management firms in this area.

Analogous to basking robin luxuriating
within his/her medium of taster's choice,
I experience with exultant and exuberant
express within poetic quasi-motto rejoice.

Book learning brings me tremendous delight,
whereby my mind soars to immense height
despite eyes forced to shut courtesy blinding light,
nevertheless joie de vivre prevails gleaning
precious nuggets of knowledge to ease
penurious and precarious penniless plight
prompting provocative dreams tonight.

Figurative meaty tender vittle morsels
temporarily appease appetite
dentures no drawback into juicy tidbits to bite
impossible mission countless passages to cite
each page chock full
food for thought delight

either factual or fictitious
voluminous tome doth excite
buzzfeeding Dharma bums' fanciful flight
occasionally curiosity finds him (me)
scrutinizing mind boggling gametophyte

phase regarding plants,
(the dominant form in bryophytes -
mosses and liverworts -
reproduce by means of spores
released from capsules),

less familiar to most people, I highlight
smattering botanical information insight
nsync with tidbit
about mineralogy namely jacobsite,
a black magnetic
isometric mineral MnFe2O4.

Fifty plus shades of gray matter (mine)
undergoing voluntary torturous subjection
i.e. stoking, perusing, and manhandling
a heavy (Sisyphean) subject matter
(honest to dogs' truth),
I Kant understand a single word!

Premium Member She Should Know That No Is No Right

I will see you Thursday, she says, all settled, without my answer.
Not needing it. She sells insurance. She is pushily confident.
I cringe, want to bail, but do not want her to stay another hour or two.
I have already wasted two hours saying no to more insurance.
What will be different on Thursday?
How can she not hear the word “no”?

She is my cousin, she should know that no is no. Right?
Of course we did lose touch for twenty-five years.
She recently called me, and I answered, delighted.
She said she wanted to come visit.
I invited her, happy.
Cleaned the house for nothing.

She came in dressed as management.
There was limited chatting.
I kept watching the clock.
My husband barricaded himself behind his office door, recognizing this type.
Mouthfuls of persistent 'you-need-to-buy these' came out of her mouth.
A sales presentation, under the pretense of getting re-acquainted.
I doubt she knows a thing about me she did not know
Twenty-five years ago.
Cannot say I want to learn anything about her either.
I will call and text her a cancel for Thursday when she is on her way home.
She already said she cannot answer a text in the car.
A clue that would have been helpful two hours sooner.
I started devouring the fudge muffins I baked for no reason.

An Anger Promise

Explaining this bad attitude
And the way you pout and brood
Is an interesting thing to hear
Right in front of me you stare
In my eyes with such intensity
As I listen to your plea
Asking for another chance
You have a glistening glance
As a tear falls down your cheek
Your sorriness is at its peak
Depending on what you say
Will determine if I stay
We've been down this road before
One foot almost out the door
When your temper starts to brew
Your anger comes shining through
Until you calm down again
I'm intently listening
As you promise this wish grant
'You'll go to anger management
To control whatever makes
You badly shiver and shake
Not sure what is causing this
It's taking away the bliss
We used to know when we first met
An good times I won't forget

Bullying and Racism

Today, I called the Police assistance line,
I was connected to the Police Station nearby.
The Officer asked 'What happened?".
I said "I desperately need some advices,
I was verbally harassed for months,
Till last week, I was physically assaulted.
When I was at the tram stop,
I decided to ignore her as I did before,
I even walked further away from her.
She followed me and hit me at the back.
The offender was someone who attended
And used the services as I did.
Every time, her excuse was,
I had a go at her male friend,
Whom I never had any interactions
Nor conversations.
Each time, she neared me,
She called me name and
Gave me a dirty look.
Sometimes, I saw her mumbling and whispering
To others while pointing and gazing at me.
Since then, those listened to her story,
Started taking turn to bully me individually.
Once, I was attacked from behind
By a four wheeled walker against my heels,
I reported some incidents in writing,
The management once told me
To deal with the issues myself.
Since then, all the harrassments happened
Away from the services' premises.
After listening to my story,
The Police asked me to get,
Her full name from the management.
I replied, due to privacy policy,
No name was allowed to given out.
Police said "Next time, carefully recording
The incident and call back.
We will see what we can do.
Take care"
I did not want any more incident.
I just what the management to help me,
By being with me and letting me talk
To the woman and her male friend.
If, I had have a go done anything against her male friend ,
Then, what rights did she had to treat me
Like the way she claimed I did.
I have been targetted and racially abused.

Premium Member My Prayer Wheel Has the Blues

It's getting late; time to leave for work,
Where we've lost our first to the red Wuhan curse.
I'll be strolling the halls with his freshly minted ghost.
Hopefully it won't loathe me; I pray it leaves me alone.
Everyone's masked and macabre-tinged.
Management is working remotely from home
but giving us free soda and chips.
With a side of ham and Corona on rye.
All this fluff for risking our insignificant lives.

I'm starting to make more mistakes.
Taking days off for the most trivial things.
I'm getting old, and soft-I'm suffocating.
Every day is just another bluish Monday.
But we plow on-there's loved ones to feed.

My psyche is quickly thinning.
The mind swirling like a 70's mood ring.
With pinches of low-grade hashish.
My faith sure could use a good cleaning,
To rid its spinning prayer wheel of debris.
So it can start spinning freely again.

I'm already beaten down and have a migraine.
Lunchtime is still two and a half hours away.

Depression and Schizophrenia

When at last you have become aware deep down yourself
and of the people whom require at last some mental health
be serviced, come to services
and you have at least one personality disorder
characterized by abnormal
and maladaptive inner experience, usually, from some past
and other ones behavior.

Personality disorders, also known as Axis II disorders, include obsessive-compulsive, avoidant, paranoid
and borderline.
Axis I disorders, on the other hand, include depression
and schizophrenia mental illnesses
thought to be less pervasive but more acute.

When Jane and Jonny you have lately come,
and all now know you both may have it, is P.D.
And you posses a very different personality,
and have at least one thing, in trust, all commons have.

Your mental illness will not for you for me remit.
Without professional intervention or medication,
behavior modification, death can likely end interdiction.

And exactly what that intervention should consist of
has there remained a subject for her/his long night debates
and his grows even shorter still.

This, along with the disorders' notoriety for being hosted,
problematic when at best it is to treat,
has posed challenges to their successful heartfelt resolution,
or at least known, knew to differant property lays in management.

When your personality disorder exhibits chronic,
pervasive problems
and getting along with other needful people.

View each book as a history book
and show the Nile,
but never hide the flower from the source,
nor the tree the burning bush.

Rambling

"Be not careless in deeds, nor confused in words, nor rambling in thoughts." (Marcus Aurelius)

In certain moments, less is more.
It's regarded as a cliche,
but when you think hard about it,
it is true in many cases.

I'm not thinking in terms of wealth-
in certain moments, less is more.
Imagine a boring topic,
now someone rambles on about-

tax refunds, software management-
a bacterial infection.
In certain moments, less is more.
It will benefit everyone.

Think back to middle and high school-
your math teacher talking about
their lunch, then algebra, then pens.
In certain moments, less is more.

An Unexpected Poem About a Female Fox

a female fox accepts
on her terms
love, care, and shelter
when she needs it

time management is something
she takes very seriously along
with defensive caution

she makes my day
everytime she decides
to forget about time for
a while

in other words,
she wants to get her
grub on and i provide
the treasure in which
she seeks

i keep my distance
and give her the respect
and understanding she deserves
as a wild animal

when she fully gets her fill....
as well as her feel, she moves on
as scheduled....

i cry thinking about the inevitable
however, i Thank God for All that
He Gives and Allows for i know that
in All Things, He Is In Control

immediately upon that realization,
my favorite female fox appears out of nowhere,
comes and lays right next to me for the very first time,
and licks my writing hand
