Bitterness of Life

Bitterness of Life

Birth brings delight at home
Death saddens hearts, yet both are parts of life
Human creatures walk, slip and move on

Today you cry but tomorrow you laugh
For sickness damages health and breaks pockets
As good health will allow you to rejoice.

With rain, plants celebrate; but without it, they mourn
When you are in love, life is sweet
When love dies off, you sweat red

Life always changes; it has ups and downs
Valleys, hills, swamps and mountains are obvious
But this is like the verses in these stanzas
Some are longer than others.

Premium Member Girl On A Bridge - 2025

She gazes unseeing; a desolate being
Asleep in this wide awake town
Leant ’gainst the rail of a bridge ’cross the river
Her gaze and demeanor are down

Considered a knife for taking her life
But thoughts of whom-ever might find
her blood drenched cadaver, decided she’d rather
not mess up an innocent’s mind

Spent some time thinking, painkillers while drinking
Might bring her the peace that she craves
But what if they merely left her feeling bleary
So now she stands gazing at waves

So, when your life has turned grey
And it shows you no way
And there’s no guiding light
Do you contemplate “Goodnight?”
For you gave it your best
You feel you’ve failed the test
Please see things another way
Tomorrow’s a brand new day

Three monkeys - wise - as she scaled iron sides
And no passerby broke his stride
Made her last pledge on a maintenance ledge
That really was not very wide

“Well Lord, that was me; what had you hoped to see
Whatever it was I have failed
Messed up all my life, but I’ll get one thing right
For I’ve got my final act… NAILED!”

Behind her a squaddie, a war ravaged body
Said I’ve been where your mind is now
But one stranger, then, helped me love life again
Can I be your ‘Stranger’ somehow

So, when your life has turned grey
And it shows you no way
And there’s no guiding light
Do you contemplate “Goodnight?”
For you gave it your best
You feel you’ve failed the test
Please see things another way
Tomorrow’s a brand new day

Well, she turned around; she climbed back and she found
That his wars had took half of one leg
Her eyes opened wide and she said, in surprise,
“Did you used to come here to beg?”

“I found you a place at the veteran’s mission
And a cab to make sure you would go
You needed me then as I needed you now.”
And he said, “Samantha…… I know.”

So, when your life has turned grey
And it shows you no way
And there’s no guiding light
Do you contemplate “Goodnight?”
For you gave it your best
You feel you’ve failed the test
Please see things another way
Tomorrow’s a brand new day

Times and Times Again Content Or Distress

TIMES WHEN THE DAYS ARE JUST LONELY
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES ARE JUST BAD
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES ARE SO SAD
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES ARE REALLY GLAD
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES ARE IN SORROW
TIMES WHEN THE DAYS ARE NO TOMORROW
TIMES WHEN THE FEELINGS ARE VOIDED
TIMES WHEN YOU ARE IGNORED
TIMES WHEN THE SEASONS ARE LONGER
TIMES WHEN YOUR LIFE IS MISERABLE
TIMES WHEN THERE ARE JUST GREAT
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES YOU ARE JUST LATE
TIMES WHEN THE TIMES ARE FEELING LOW
TIMES WHEN LIFE BECAME FROM RICH TO POOR
TIMES AS IF THE YEARS HAS DISAPPEARED
TIMES WHEN NO ONE CARED?
TIMES WHEN THE ONES THAT YOU LOVE THE MOST?
REALITY SOUGHT IN FROM COAST TO COAST
AS IF YOUR LIFE IS A TURN AROUND SPIN
NO LAUGHTER, NO HAPPINESS, SMILE, NOR A GRIN?
LONELY AND FEELING LIKE PROBLEMS ARE JUST NOT BRAND NEW
WELL, FRIEND SOMEONE IS WORSE OFF THAN YOU
MEMORIES AND MOMENTS OF DISAPPOINTMENTS
GRIEF, NON RELIEF, NOT AN ANSWER TO SEEK.

WE LIVE, LEARN, WE LAUGH, WE CRY
DISCERN, PRETEND, BORROW, LEND
LIFE IS LIFE
CRIES ARE REAL
TEARS ARE TOO
REMEMBER GOD IS THERE
ALWAYS WITH YOU.

YOUR FAITH HAS DECREASED?
YOUR TRUST IS GONE?
YOUR LIFE IS MISERABLE
BUT, YOU MUST MOVE ON.

GOD IS GREAT, MERCY AND GRACE
GOD IS LOVE, LIFE IS PRECIOUS
A DESTINY TO FULFILL
A GENUINE TESTIMONY TO GIVE.

SINCERE PRAYERS TO EVERYONE THAT IS DEPRESSED.

BABY

Baby, you’re so sweet. You are like a cherry on top of the tree that I want to pick off and taste your kisses, lovely and sweet.
Like when the music begins, my heart starts beating every word from you makes me feel like I’m in heaven.
As the sun sets, and the moon arises, my love for you, I send across the miles.
When I go to sleep, I’ll dream of you, we’ll dance all night, we’ll sing the blues, and we’ll sing love songs that are so true.
Baby, as we sit in our castle feeling so happy, we thank God for all of our blessings.
For love flows through the air, making every moment feel brighter and brighter each year.

Premium Member On My Beach

I've missed watching most clouds floating past
during this life,
probably better as a spectator sport
than an insider's game.

I've missed most summer-floating ferries
accessible in my love times of life.
Usually watching from the shore,
passed by to wonder how it would feel
to see and smell and taste more
of exotic destinies and erotic times

Tropical paradise
thick jungles and majestic ranges
crystal mountains of ice
feeding hungry oceanic eyes of other visitors
on this spinning miracle of life.

Perhaps in my next love-life
I will become a more resonant remediating ferry
bringing those who say Yes!
to ancient plateaus of earthquake riding
discomforting delight.

Premium Member Blinkers

Through restless decades I have tried to learn,
From journeys more mute than ready to teach,
Sifting through grains of sand of no concern,
Looking for truths clouded by half-truths’ siege.
Days fill with bustle when I’m keen to delve;
Not enough is gleaned, though I have inquired,
Save some blinkered thoughts of love, life and self,
Of this odyssey, oft the mind has tired.
With narrowed eyes I have tried to behold,
A clear sight of me and the whole true world,
Till one day I found I am grey and old,
And not half the wisdom has yet unfurled.
Long ago I came, a searcher at heart,
In a light incomplete I shall depart.

Premium Member When I made love to God

It was a wicked Wednesday
When everything good happened
And I chased the FedEx truck
And got my book
The first one I have ever published

And then to thank God
I ran like a bat out of hell

And listened to the Dire Straits
Romeo and Juliet on repeat

“You can fall for chains of silver
You can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers
And the promises they hold”

I fell back in love with God
Today

And it was more meaningful
Than when I got married
One day

My feet hit pavement
And I’m still held down by gravity

And I’m alive today
And grateful
For being so

Forever Waiting

Forever waiting

Rivers of pain, flow through my brain,
Spreading the fear through every vein.
Lights so bright, call my name in the night.
My future is beckoning; love life.

Sweetness is a virtue;
I need to be with you.
Beautiful eyes of blue leave me with nothing else to do,
But surrender my heart to your womanly ways.
I will remain faithful, because I am always betrayed
And when I meet one who can truly stay faithful,
I will be who I can be and I will be eternally grateful.

On my journey to the grave, I am still yet to meet her;
But even though my life has sped by like a flash and a blur,
I know there is a single person who loves like I do.
Of this I am certain; so I will wait, maybe in vain,
But I will still wait, through sun and through rain;
Waiting here for her truth.

I will be standing, never demanding, simply asking, for understanding.
I will wait for her, until I am broken and defeated.
I will be here, forever waiting, for you to not mistreat me,
Like she did.

Premium Member That's Just What I Say

I've crossed many bridges in my life, some in which I gladly walked across and some in which I would have gladly stepped back on and walked the other way.

You all know the old saying- "If I coulda, woulda, shoulda" Well, I probably definitely "shoulda" But I can't re-do what has already been done, but you know what, that's okay.

One must not dwell on the past. Thou shall keep on movin' on, rid the bad vibes and feelings and try to create positive thoughts, ideas, moments and memories. Live and love life yet another day.

Besides, who knows what turns and curveballs that would have been tossed at me If I hadn't decided to walk the path I've traveled. My life could have just been tossed away.

I coulda been this, or I woulda done that, I shoulda been this, or I shoulda done that. No, I shouldn't have. I shoulda done just what I did, I say.

I would never have turned the other way, for me, that's okay. I will live and love life yet another day. My life won't be wasted away, I've done just what I shoulda, and that my friends is just what "I" say

Premium Member One More Song

Thank you, Jackson Browne,
and somehow "I get the joy
of rediscovering you"

Thank you, Journey,
and I am 'Faithfully'
learning the lines
of the highways of life

"Wheels go round and round
in my mind"

I will "sleep alone
tonight"
this poem of various songs
will not translate
to tangible meaning for you

the men I love
stopped listening
to my poems and songs
I did and didn't write
but continue to dance to

in silk skirts from consignment
stores that make me feel
like a success story
or an extra in a movie

I have quarters to my name,
cheap jokes and receipts

J.B invited me
to "stay, just a little bit longer"

and my "mother don't mind,
and the union don't mind"

and "please, please, please
say you will"

I have half an hour
to be self-indulgent,
and romantic

How long do you have
to play?
