When I made love to God

It was a wicked Wednesday
When everything good happened
And I chased the FedEx truck
And got my book
The first one I have ever published

And then to thank God
I ran like a bat out of hell

And listened to the Dire Straits
Romeo and Juliet on repeat

“You can fall for chains of silver
You can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers
And the promises they hold”

I fell back in love with God
Today

And it was more meaningful
Than when I got married
One day

My feet hit pavement
And I’m still held down by gravity

And I’m alive today
And grateful
For being so
