Mistakes we have made cannot be erased
Some leave us with a heavy price to be paid
We all do and say things that we now regret
But can’t undo those actions that we’d rather forget
We cannot change what happened yesterday
So must live for the moment and cherish each day
We only get one chance at life … that’s a sure thing
None of us can predict what the future will bring
So we must use our time wisely all our days on this earth
Try to live life to the full from the time of our birth

Star lit sky ushers in the new year
icy breath escaping from our lips.
Gone now into history year 2014
for me and mine, it was a great year.
Forward now to whatever the future holds
there, new paths opening up before our eyes .
Adventures await us if we are bold enough
to reach out and catch hold of that drifting dream.
Live life to the full and without regrets
the past can never, however much we try,
be changed or altered in any way. Our mistakes
leave behind just remember the lessons learned.
Live as one with nature and embrace it's inner peace
never forgetting to keep some quiet time each day
so that the words you write resound within minds
touching the chords of each and every poet heart.

At relationships we thought ‘forever’ that sadly didn’t last
Time and tide will wait for no man
Just embrace life as much as you can
None of us know what fate will dictate
Grab every opportunity before it’s too late
One day our tomorrow will never come
Then it’s too late for things we’ve not done
Live life to the full don’t waste it away
And tell your folks you love them every day

On that fateful day in August arriving late, so unusual for me
For I am always early; did I know deep down what the verdict would be
As soon as I walked through that door, the neurologist told me my fate
I had Parkinson’s she said; a degenerative disease; but then I heard no more
How I wanted to scream are you sure, are you sure
Then I started to cry; then I started to shake
How on earth would I cope; how on earth would I live
I am now all alone since my darling had died
But the kindly sweet nurse made a cup of sweet tea
She gave me a hug sending me on my way
with armfuls of booklets, to read one by one
and not all at once, there’s so much to take in
I spoke to my family, I cried, they cried
I spoke to my friends, I cried, they cried
Then slowly I realised it could be much worse
I began to get angry; I began to curse
Till finally I vowed to live life to the full
Making each second count, till the day my time comes
I vowed that Parkinson’s will never define me
I will never let it rule me; I will fight it to the nth degree

In two days, she’d marry the love of her life,
She always dreamed of becoming a wife.
But she was a bit sad; she never knew her dad,
As far as parents go, her mom was all she had.
Lost in her thoughts, she heard a thud outside,
it was a package; she wondered what was inside.
She closed the door and opened the box up,
to her surprise, it was a book and a coffee cup.
The title of the book was “ I Give You My Heart”
the note read, I loved you from the very start.
I'm sorry I couldn't be apart of your life, my child,
I got terminally ill, your thoughts may be running wild.
Immediately, she shed tears for a dad, she never knew,
as she continued to read, she was no longer sad and blue.
In the book, you'll learn who your father is,
you'll see I love science; in fact, I'm a whiz
I also gave you my favorite cup; it's special to me,
live life to the full and may it be filled with glee.

Ambition is a driving force,
Admirable in many ways,
That's only, of course
If nobody else has to pay
Ambition can help you prosper,
And live life to the full
Ideas that you had fostered
Start to become fruitful.
People look up up you,
Admire your "get up and go."
Some may envy your success,
Others think you are on show.
He has always been ambitious,
Reaching for the stars
People can be malicious
Ambition can cause scars.
The ambitious can be ruthless,
In their pursuit of acclaim
Their one purpose in life is to
Amass money, power and fame.
We need ambitious people,
So we may forge ahead
We don't need power-hungry people
Who are greedy and easily led.
Life loses it's value when the self is satisfied
Until they find out there is nowhere left to hide
Ambition is a driving force,
Admirable in many ways,
That's only, of course
If nobody else has to pay!
Living our lives in this world
means overcoming trouble and strife
hardship and pain come our way
which at times means using the knife
God comes to us with His offer
an offer to live life to the full
but that fullness comes rejecting self
giving God His place as our tool
This Christian life is our experience
lived out among the world's glare
showing Jesus as our supreme Lord
following Him as our brother and fellow heir
It's not an idea to pore over
analysing it to our heart's content
it's far too important for that
God sending Jesus was heavenly meant
So live for Jesus with all your heart
praise God for all that He's done
pouring your heart into all of life
knowing Jesus truly as God's Son

A million more chances
Some people they get to live forever;
Some people do not have the same luck.
I want to go on until the other end of the never,
But fate has decided my time is up.
If only I had a million more chances.
A million more attempts to live life to the full.
Maybe I could find the antidote;
If only I could read every single book.
If only I could; if only.
Maybe I would not have to feel so lonely,
Because nobody understands the pain that is my life!
I am not and never will be ready to walk into the light.
My hope is in Pandora’s box;
I wish I could just pick that lock,
But I cannot, for the fear is too strong.
I guess this is my lot.
Exhausted from the thought of it all;
No key to be found to walk through a sliding door.
In a life so short, why was it all such a chore?
A battle for life; a love I never saw.
I only glimpsed at what could have been,
But now that desire has gone; I have lost everything.
I could never try, without somebody at my side.
I cry all the time, because all I want is a life
And a love life too; is that too much to ask?
Please do not take this all from me.
Please do not take it all back.
As the depression kicks in,
I sink into the abyss.
The loneliness of me, the pity, the lost wishes;
Let me live.
If this is what must be, then why must it be me?
I want to live, I want to live;
I want to be set free.

it seems in just the twinkling of an eye
life passes by
and one's left at the brink
with time to think
before the fall
into the great abyss
where did time go?
For some, life is short
for others, long
But the years don't count
Nor do the hours

I recently showed some photos to my class of a young man in his twenties who lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis. His sister is my daughter's age, and once when she visited Cyprus, I took her and my daughter and another friend out. She loved me and added me on Facebook. I've followed her brother's journey with avid interest and pain. Her younger brother has cystic fibrosis as well, and her husband has it. He recently had a lung transplant...and for a time, Hannah didn't know if he would make it to the wedding. So much pain in her life. I've recently shared on FB at her request, a site where people can make donations to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. My heart aches for her in her time of mourning. We complain about insignificant things, when all Ben wanted was to be able to breathe free and LIVE!!!
What is life? The Bible says that it's like a flower...here today and gone tomorrow. We complain...about so many things...not realizing that every day we live is a gift that's not guaranteed to many. We need to cherish those who matter. Live life to the full. Find and grasp happiness. LIVE LOVE....LOVE! :) That's the sum total of life.
