I open the door to search for the source
But there's no sound of it now...
Weeping that used to creep over the stairs, climbing trellis and vines
Climbing onto the porch roof, and into my room
A looming invisible smoke, that would choke me with grief,
Like a thief in the night, engulfing the room where I stand
~
Sounds of weeping could be heard with a far, but familiar dread
that sped through the night, remaining a bit out of reach
but dying at the foot of my bed
~
It would come like a child, crying in the dark
calling my name, lamenting the cost
of a light that was lost
a voice losing sight in the shadow of grief
that fades in the soft morning dawn
~
I stand in the door, and realize, of course
the voice of the wind
is my own
~

Apathy creeps in like a thief in the night
Stealing our passions, leaving us without sight
We become numb to the world, and all it holds
Our emotions and dreams slowly grow cold
We watch as life passes us by
Without a single tear or sigh
No joy or sorrow, love or hate
Just an emptiness that we can't escape
We see the suffering and pain
But we feel nothing, and it's all in vain
Our hearts are locked behind a wall
And we refuse to answer their call
We exist, but we don't truly live
Our souls withered and our spirits passive
We need to break free from this state
Before it's too late, before it's too late

Once upon a time, everything was black and white
Oh darling angel - I didn't know we were gonna take flight
V.1:
Shadowed silence vibrates melancholy
As the darkening clouds spiral overhead
Open spaces, breathing air of mystery
bloody ink of terror break in...doused in dread
I must confess
Under tons of stress
Hiding this love
Like a thief in the night
Robbing the house of love
My plunder is your heart
To keep in a jar
My jar of hearts
I cried a river
In my heart, in my heart
Deliver…oh deliver
Me from temptation that’s been deceiving me from the start
Ch.:
I’m nothing to you…it’s like solving a mystery without a clue!
Living this lie…refusing my cries
Frozen inside and feeling kind of numb
I feel dumb…well, it’s a bummer…
Wiping away the pain
Wiping away the tears
I ran because of fear
But I must spill the secrets
(I am here
Here I wait)x3
Here I stand…
I hope you understand…
I hope you can see…
I hope for you to see
To see what happens
When love is given
A second chance to bloom
In my heart
I slept for way too many hours
It empowers me – the thought of reaching out to you
Numb without you motivating me…
So, there’s no point of taking cover
Like a bolt from the pit of hell you appeared
And stealthily like a thief in the night
You entered into our lives
Disguising as our familiar foe
Masking your deadliness in controversy
And like the serpent in the Garden of Eden
You bought our connivance to denial of your sinister presence
All the while bidding your time for pandemic descent on humanity
And when we innocently looked the other way
You pounced on our haplessness and helplessness
And descended on us with lightning speed
From Wuhan to Italy
From Italy to France
From France to Spain and America
And from America to the rest of the world
You dehumanized us
You humiliated us
You demobilized us
You dis-focused us
Causing segregation among us
You separated us
You trivialized all our efforts to get even with you
You truncated all our plans for the future
You stultified all we have stashed away for the rainy day
You demoralized our populations
Locking them down in anger and hunger
In addition, making them to see their God in bad light
As they are shut out from their sanctuaries of hope
Even though you have continued to assault our sensibilities
With the number of fatalities we have counted globally
I am glad to disappoint you
Serendipitously we have been demystified by your pyrrhic victory
Now we know the rich and the poor are vulnerable
We have been humbled by your challenge
Making us more united to fight a common enemy
Our scientists have been stretched by necessity the mother of invention
We have equally discovered our good leaders
The bad ones we shall flush out at the polls
Mr. Corona virus I have another bad news for you
You have been pronounced dead in the spiritual realm
And so your physical interment is just weeks away
For we all are Coronavictorious!
Pleasant greetings June,
You bring with you the rise
Of a new brimming full Strawberry Moon
The last full moon of spring.
Amid your warmest longer days
And the shortest nights, you introduce
The summer solstice the first day of summer.
You make the children jump for joy
(Yay, School is out!)
A time of infinite fun.
Romance inspires cozy night
Endow with poetic charm
Under the flickering magical moon.
You bring with you, the fickle gaiety
Among the rhythm of the cricket's chirps,
Frogs croaking after a refreshing rain,
Pecking of the woodpecker,
Cooing of the mourning dove,
And mocking chirps of the mockingbird.
You brighten the world with luxuriant engrave gardens
Cascading soothing and calming fragrant blooms.
However,
You only bring the fun for a little while
Then it's gone,
As Autumn comes like a thief in the night
And steal you away..

It would be nice, you know if you gave me a reason for your visits
Sometimes you pop in so randomly, like an outbreak of a deadly disease
I sometimes wonder where you picked up this boldness
This confidence to barge into someone’s mind without shame
Then remember, that it is I, master of hoarding that once let you in
I have kept your memory for so long, you need only twist before resurfacing
I have kept tabs on your whys and hows that I know you, a familiar face
I may forget your why’s because truly, you have no reason why
But your hows linger in my mind like muscle memory
I see you creep in with dirty clothes,
Let the room lay in eggshells of a mess
Let the late nights of long prayers turn into short nights of “God, please hear the groans of my heart”
I see the way you walk, stealthily, like a thief in the night
The way you smooth talk the suppressed anger and pain
You whisper sweet nothings in my ears
“How worthless could you possibly be?” and my personal favorite “you should’ve died on that first try”
But still, it would be nice, you know, if you gave me a heads up
Of the next time you want to come by, maybe then I’ll be more prepared
I’ll do laundry beforehand
Maybe cook a meal or 5 for days where I can’t stand
Maybe, hear your words and take them with a grain of salt
But who am I kidding?
I will always listen to you and you will never announce your arrival
Not sure how to carry on
Everything I love is now gone
Did not see the end in sight
Took you like a thief in the night
I know it was God's will
Doesn't make it easy still
On my knees I have knelt
While my heart starts to melt
Thought together we would grow old
Now your body is lifeless and cold
Not real sure how to act
Still trying to wrap my head around the facts
Nothing more I can really do
100% lost with out you
So many ways that this could end
Yet no idea where to begin
Bodies drained I have nothing more
Just laid out on the floor
Hoping this is the end for us both
I thank the Father, Son, and Holly Ghost.

Form:
Babe, if you dance with the Devil
There’s no turning back
He’s lost like a thief in the night
With a soul just as black
The silver that colours his words
Is as fake as his smile
Your Heaven will soon fade to hell
You’ll regret every mile
chorus
You can’t turn your back on the stranger
You live for the lies that he’ll tell
You smile at his charm
As you hang off his arm
Enchained by the grip of his spell
lHe’s seen you before in the eyes
Of a thousand young girls
From the rings on your fingers and toes
To your braids and your curls
He’ll feed you a line from his book
He’ll promise it all
And he knows that you’ll bite
Cos you’ve always been willing to fall
chorus
You can’t turn your back on the stranger
You live for the lies that he’ll tell
You smile at his charm
As you hang off his arm
Enchained by the grip of his spell
No he don’t know you at all
You’ll change him for sure
The innocence there in your eyes
Is your means to his cure
But think once again and again
Is it worth getting burned
The sweetness you give him
Won’t change him and won’t be returned
Under a blistering sun, I walked alone,
A heart heavy, a past I’d overthrown.
In a foreign land, every breath I’d take,
Found her laughter by the old canal lake.
Darkness crept like a thief in the night,
Turned to ashes, lost all sense of right.
Her kindness now holding despair,
I broke her; how could I dare?
In Arizona, where cacti stand tall,
Her spirit lingers within these four walls.
Stars brighter when my guilt’s out of sight
Desolate silence, I’m haunted by the night.
Memories of Guatemala echo in my veins,
Memories of her, as heavy as my chains.
A red rose blooming in this barren land
I’m waiting with blood on my hands.
Under skies we shared our dreams,
Her smile, now torn at the seams.
Each passing moment my time slips away,
I search for redemption; now I have to pay.
Arizona, where shadows dance free,
Ghosts of choices won’t let go of me.
She rests beneath this desert sun
Inside me she’ll always be the one.
My judgment on death row's ground
Clock ticks slow, no salvation to be found
Strapped to the table, pulls tight on regret;
My last heartbeat whispers, I’ll never forget.
Under Arizona’s unforgiving sky,
Her memory is like a sweet goodbye.
Arizona snuffing out all light
Unforgiving silence will make it all alright.
The night where I turned love into pain
Her memories forever are a cold rain.
From Guatemala to red rock lands wide
Trapped beside me where my soul hides.
[Verse 1]
I keep staring at the empty side of the bed
Wondering why you left without a word said
Was it the way I held on too tight?
Or did you just get tired of the fight?
[Verse 2]
You slipped out like smoke through my hands
Leaving me with questions I’ll never understand
There’s a song we used to play on repeat
Now it’s just silence that I can’t defeat
[Chorus]
Every moment’s a cell that I can’t break free from
I wasn’t there when you handed down the sentence, love
Caught between memories and what I never knew
This limbo’s a place where hope just won’t pull through
You were my lover, my closest friend
Now I’m chasing shadows that never end
Are we done? Or just frozen in time?
This waiting, this not knowing—it’s slowly killing my mind
[Verse 3]
You wanted freedom — maybe more than me
Took your Independence like a thief in the night, silently
I’m left in the ruins of all we planned
With nothing but ghosts and a ring in my hand
[Chorus]
Every moment’s a cell that I can’t break free from
I wasn’t there when you handed down the sentence, love
Caught between memories and what I never knew
This limbo’s a place where hope just won’t pull through
You were my heartbeat, my favorite sound
Now it’s just echoes I keep hanging around
Are we done? Or is this some cruel pause?
Girl, living like this is a slow, quiet loss
[Bridge]
If you wanted to leave, just say it plain
Don’t bury me in silence or leave me in pain
I’m drowning in questions, no lifeline in sight
You wanted your freedom — you got your Independence that night
[Outro]
Forever locked away, and I’m still here
Haunted by memories, haunted by fear
Longing for answers I’ll never get
In this limbo where I’m stuck — can’t forget
