When Squirrels Earned Their Stripes - Ii

Rama pleaded with the sea to give a way,
Adamant he too hard was when to melt,
Wiser was made, reason failing to pay,
Ere long a challenging duel was when dealt.

They began thence building a bridge on sea
To deal with demons, impervious to plea,
Apes lumbered when with huge rocks, a squirrel
Too tiny though, played a role— if a trickle,

She soon got busy, but boastful the least,
Running errands, ah mighty tasks amidst!
And waited not, figured out what to do—
What noble task, Rama’s spouse to rescue!

Wet, she wallowed in the coastal dry sand,
To sea again, leaping from stone to stone,
Unloading grains returning, more to fend,
She made all else to feel their funny bone.

Far too busy, perhaps way above all,
What with fun, funny bone, work worship was,
Sacred comes every task, naught is too small,
It's value, not volume, to noble cause.

And Rama watchful of it all amidst,
Said, wiping tears of joy welling in eyes,
My tiny soldier, never yet the least,
Happy I sure feel this to realize:

No more I doubt meeting my beloved spouse,
Defeat mighty demons for noble cause,
So saying he lifted the tiny wonder,
Monkey brigade as raised a loudest thunder.

He placed this lifter of spirit in palm,
Soldiers as sang paeans of praise, sweet psalm,
He smoothened her skin, his fingers the furs,
Which, darkish ere, turned to light stripes of hers.

Squirrels come with stripes ever since that olden day—
A tale of fair intent, no grudging tithe in tray!

Premium Member Poetry Is Powerful

"Poetry” is a most powerful instrument
like a flute that is to be played.
Also, it is a pungent possibility
like a newly created perfume put on.
Yet, free to all, and for all to wear.
This is to be adorned, and is
one of the most of the highest of solemn calls.
Words that are spoken and then engraved,
never to be forgotten or ignored.

It can reshape the world
that is in pieces and so, so torn.
A restorative medicine
to a life that is very, very worn.
An elixir of life and
a healer of lives beset by strife.
A lifter of our inner thoughts
and our buried emotions.

A fire-works of explosions
raising us up to a newer dimension.
A reversal of cacophonies, man-made devastations.
Words of pretty portraits and musical orchestras
of artistically crafted words:
Seamed stitched and woven and fashionably embroidered.
Also, made into a mighty steely shining sword.

Premium Member In Faithful Waters

Whatever shall become of me
I know that God has a Hand in it
I shall not glory
As He is glorified
I shall not be dampened
As He is the lifter of one's spirit
I shall not bow
As He is the only One who can make me bow
And only for Him
I cannot show down
As He said "do not dare me"
Did He say that?
Many times
To me
I shall not bear
As He said "leave the burden on Me"
I shall not see, hear anything that is not of His guidance, spirit
I shall trot, walk
in faithful waters
And not getting my feet wet
How do I do that?
I shall fly high and wide
Like an eagle in the sky
And spread my wings
As He is with me
What more can I share?
I shall do, sew, make the crooked place smooth
Ahh I cannot do such thing
But He can
I shall moo, boo, woo
Nah
None of the others
But I will be shooed
As God does not make the mocker out of man
So I will learn
And know that He is the one who is God
Do I know?

Eat, Drink and Be Merry

'Six slices a day is the well balanced way'
the boffins back then told us all,
but now I'm not impressed, they say 'wholemeal is best,
and more healthy' their clarion call.
For a good spirit lifter, an evening snifter
was, we were told, good for the heart,
now they say fourteen units (down from twenty-one)
in a week keeps you safe, if you're smart.
'Drinka pinta milka day' the adverts said,
it's good for the teeth and the bones,
now 'half fat, low dairy' the choices are scary
I may well just leave them alone.
Our family had chips cooked in gallons of lard,
spread dripping and salt on our toast,
bacon ate with the rind, and no scraps left behind
gravy made with the juice from the roast.
We ate this sinful food with no qualms or remorse
and left the table feeling full,
those boffins may be right but I think, with hindsight
that their lives must be terribly dull.

Premium Member Listen to What Your Mum Says

Don’t chase dreams till you’re out of breath,
Live what’s real — outdance the regret.
Why be another one aligned in the copycat line?
Be a glitch that sparks and makes life shine.

Start your day the night before.
Open one door, then more and more.
Win by learning to shun any signs of defeat,
'Cos hope will land you sweet, on your two feet.

Prestige won’t buy you a loaf of bread.
So be a lifter, a doer, not a leaner, instead.
Eat less, but taste the good stuff more.
Dress your flaws with something well, truly worn.

So listen to what your mum says—
Sing it out, sing it out, strong out loud!
Ride your rivers, up high into hope's cloud;
Bending with the flow, letting the currents play.
Life finds its path when you're out, on the way.

Don’t waste reality chasing dreams.
Let imagination stretch its seams.
Don’t borrow troubles—just carry right on,
Wearing it out, before the red rust, rots on.

Believe in goodness if your faith is ajar;
Starting again and again, resets the bar.
Don’t fight the river—let it be free to run,
Trusting what's lies around corners to come.

So listen to what your mum says—
Sing it true, sing it blue, to a happy tune!
In the noise, she's always be there to croon—
To hold the beat, and let the harmony grow,
She’s always right, much more that you care to know.

Premium Member Lifter of My Head

Would I be so ever bold, to boast that I am blessed,
Throw back my shoulders and proclaim,
"Too blessed for any stress."

LIFTER OF MY HEAD

No, I can't take a moment's pride
or allow it ever said.
He is the Glory of my story,
Lifter of my head!

I would not that any envy,
My stride, my ride, my dress,
The light within that makes me gleam,
replaced a dark and tangled mess,

Although I'm lifted high to soar,
on wings of glory spread,
Oh it is Jesus lifting me,
Lifter of my head.

Yes, I live the abundant life,
A life that was bought by grace.
For I was once fit for the grave,
Beheld death's morbid face.

Death lurked and waited my demise,
But God raised me from the dead,
His matchless love, no man can measure,
Lifter of my head.

So if it seems that no one’s for you,
Know that you are not alone,
There’s more for, than is against you,
Even when all friends are gone,

So let the Lord have all the glory,
God has the last word said,
My amazing story for His awesome glory,
Lifter of my head.

Key Verses – Psalm 25:1 -2 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O
my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY SOUL-LIFTER

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter… joyously, yet soberly triumphing over me
Thank You for enabling me to become what You want me to be
Jab into my deeds Your truths I need to practice so my faith others can see…
Jack me with Your mercy so rich and free.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
judiciously, yet compassionately pardoning me of my iniquity
Thank You for examining me, proving me of Your sincerity
Jail my vanity inside Your wondrous works’ sovereignty…
Jam me against my dishonesty along Your integrity.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
jubilantly, yet graciously gladdening me of my salvation
Thank You for hiding me Your pavilion’s fortification
Jar my anger away from cruelty’s oppression…
Jell me within Your holiness’ passion.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
joyfully, yet peacefully drawing me to Your heart
Thank You for empowering me along divine nature You did impart
Jeopardize my bad motives so selfish with arrogance-dart…
Jerk me out from wickedness with Your light for revival great start.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
jingly, yet expressively blessing me by Your inheritance
Thank You for upholding me to worship in Your righteousness’ assistance
Jibe my goals according to Your majestic stance…
Joggle me of my pride and break my resistance.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
jovially, yet courageously shaking me from fearfulness
Thank You for cheering me by Your voice of comfort and gentleness
Jounce my sadness with Your caring blissfulness…
Judge me along Your loving kindness with Your healing’s steadfastness.

Lord God, You are my soul Lifter…
jealously, yet protectively bringing me to Your keeping
Thank You for prospering me as on Your paths I keep on stepping
Justify my deeds by Your favour’s grasping…
Juxtapose me alongside Your ministry’s propping.

If Grandma Takes the Elevator

The elevator eyes of Raquel
Look another person up and down;
They show the likeness or resemblance
Of the lifter coming from the ground.

Kurt's elevator speech is a short
Summary used to quickly define
A product, service, or even group
That can be delivered in a line.

The elevator shoes can increase
By up to four inches Cheryl's height;
Thanks to the secret insert hidden,
For a taller girl will be in sight.

Gigi hates going shopping in mall,
Though the public place is fantastic;
The main reason is the boring sound,
She's tired of elevator music.

One that raises or lifts something up
Is a cage that conveys to tenth floor;
Life will be comfortable and fine,
If Grandma takes the elevator.

Premium Member Rues To Muse

I wouldn't claim you weary me
                        For Muse, it's me, apparently
Here in the room, a faint perfume
Of dust, or must, a tinge of gloom

Thank you for the lovely talk
That we encountered on our walk
In the backyard to garden small
And viewed the sky above the wall

And truly, truly, oh my word!
                     Sweet serenades, that little bird!
It's so good to have you near
And share a bit of lovely cheer

You beside these past few days
                   I've sorrowed, mourned, delighted
                                      Praised
It's so good you're here again
The gentle lifter of my pen

Premium Member On the Road Haymaking

Sun is rising, birds are cooing,
and I am up, up and doing,
the billy’s on, tea is brewing
          in younger days waking.
So I’d grab my torn gloves to wear
as old man Walmsley’s truck I’d hear
in the warm morning summer air
           on the road haymaking.

To load up the truck and pack her
                I was a lifter and stacker -
it was hot, it was hard yakka
         from field to shed taking.
But on every cut hill and dale
with each counted and lifted bale
at day’s end we all drank an ale
           on the road haymaking.

From Kaukap’ home thru Dairy Flat
Percy’s charger purred like a cat
till Cock drops the clutch to the mat -
          his hands guilty shaking.
Reckless doing a hundred clicks
it would be his ar-se Percy kicks,
the spider gears he had to fix
           on the road haymaking.

And that day on collision course
with a load of baled hay and gorse
under the truck wheels fell a horse -
          its last breath forsaking.
Sadly there was no place to hide
but in my shock I surely tried
when at my trembling feet it died
           on the road haymaking.

We were fit and strong and mad keen,
young and foolhardy, just fifteen,
now with many years in between
     those early dawns breaking.
                  But I remember long ago
summers in Paremoremo
when off on Walmsley’s truck I’d go
           on the road haymaking.
