Theotokos: The City Beneath the Sea

At 10,911 meters beneath the Pacific veil,
where no submarine dares dream,
I descended into the throat of Earth—
into the trench men call Mariana,
but spirits call Theotokos.

There, the water was not water—
it was glass that hummed.
The ocean floor rose like a palace,
built of crystal bones and music stones—
a cathedral of sound and secrets.

They called it the House of Fire Music.

Inside, stood the immortalized—
Beyoncé, her aura a flicker of gold.
Jay-Z, carved from thunder and code.
Janet Jackson, wrapped in the rhythm of moons.
Dolly Parton, humming in divine frequencies.
Elvis shimmered at the corner, whispering hymns
of forgotten chords.

And then, the Beings arrived—
not gods, not angels—
but the composers behind the composers.
They stood clad in scarlet and amethyst,
eyes like suns behind veils of silk.

“We are the architects of your sound,” they said.
“Every chart hit, every sold-out stage,
begins not in your world, but here.”

A ritual began.
Each musician was summoned
to offer a letter of the alphabet.
Beyoncé stepped forward. Her voice—clear, defiant:
“I give you the letter S.”

The beings replied:
“Then we give you Single Ladies.
Take it. Sing it. The world will move.”
And so it was.

Kanye West knelt, offering P.
They gave him Power.
Lady Gaga whispered B,
and was handed Born This Way.
Freddie Mercury had once been here—
and took Bohemian Rhapsody
from their marble hands.

No song is random.
No beat is blind.
Everything—
from release dates to Grammy speeches—
is scripted by ancient rhythm codes
within the citadel of Theotokos.

They are taught the law of vibration,
the diet of frequency:
“No meat that bleeds.
No sex before sound.
No fame without silence.”
Their lives are not theirs.
Their voices are borrowed.

This world we know—
the charts, the scandals, the glam—
is just a shadow on the surface.
The music industry?
A temple built on crystal lies.

And when I rose back to the surface,
gasping, reborn—
I heard the radio play a new track,
and I knew—

It came from beneath.

I’m publishing the poems as I write them on Wattpad.com, not necessarily in alphabetical order. My goal is to write at least 26 poems to cover each letter of the alphabet. Alpharhymitize
(the first alpharhymized poem – by definition)
By Franklin Price
2/26/2017

Alpharhymitize - I think I've coined a word
Because it is most likely, one that you have never heard
Can you think about it? Have you heard this word or not?
Don't believe it is a thing, thought I'd give this word a shot
Each word has an origin, thought I'd give this one a go
For you to make one also, just think and make it so
Get in your mind, a thought or two, a new word you can make
Have a definition also, to make some sense, for goodness sake
I don't really give a crap if it's stupid or it's quaint
Just don't present it as a new word, if you know it really ain't
Kangaroo is taken, so is aboriginal digeridoo
Look elsewhere to find another, to find something that is new
May find it as a new name for a plant or element
Not always found on purpose, some are found by accident
Only by trial and error, can you make a word that's new
Preposterous or simple, it is something you can do
Quit trying hard and slow down, you will find it in your head
Remembering is very hard, you should write it down instead
Simple words or hard ones, are for you to perceive
Then go and find some other folks, whom you can make believe
Unless you bring the word up front, and bring it to the fore,
Very unlikely, it will be used, that you will make the score
When you have coined a brand new word and put it on the page
Xerox some copies, send them out, tweet to make it all the rage
You will never know, unless you see how it will fit
Zero will always happen, if you don't get down to it

Alpharhymitize – to compose a rhyming poem beginning the first line with “A” and each subsequent line with the next letter of the alphabet until “Z” begins the last line. Poem must rhyme in couplets.

Analysis of the Last of the Letters - Z

"The Last of the Letters - Z" is a poem that personifies the letter Z, giving it a distinctive voice and character. The poem is structured into four quatrains and uses rhyming couplets to create a playful and whimsical tone.

The first stanza establishes the unique qualities of the letter Z, emphasizing its sharp edges and zigzag form. The letter is personified as proud and distinctive, and its position as the last letter of the alphabet is emphasized.

The second stanza contrasts the letter Z with more common letters like A, B, and C, emphasizing its status as a letter of surprise. The poem suggests that the letter Z is a sound of buzzing bees and the zip of a zipper, which creates a sense of liveliness and energy.

The third stanza reinforces the importance of the letter Z as the last letter of the alphabet. The poem suggests that the letter is unforgettable and has a lasting impact on language and communication.

The fourth stanza concludes the poem by emphasizing the importance of the letter Z as a final stroke of a pen and the end of words and stories. The poem suggests that the letter Z is forever young and will continue to be a part of language and communication.

Overall, "The Last of the Letters - Z" is a playful and lighthearted poem that uses personification to give the letter Z a distinctive voice and character. The poem emphasizes the unique qualities of the letter and its importance in language and communication. The use of rhyme and playful language creates a sense of fun and whimsy, making the poem a joy to read.

Zozo going to to sleep a little
……………………………………………………………………………………………….

Note……...the title is a common French saying which suggests the repetitive nature of life. I have done an extra ( witty?) item for each letter of the alphabet to suggest different forms of “repetitiveness”. Each line is intended to be said aloud, thus for example “Metro boulot Quito” or “Metro Boulot Volvo”. My kids, when young, enjoyed this kind of word-play based on wit and humor. I still enjoy it.
