Remembering
(New Years Day 2017)
Written: by Miracle Man
5-23/2020
A season of year when leaves weren’t falling,
sixteen drips, adorned an infusion pole.
Lifeless I lay, death, my name was calling,
but a loving God chose to make me whole.
But this wasn't where the story would end,
it's became my witness to His greatness.
Of remaining time before i ascend,
i feel blessed daily by this lateness.
God blesses each one with certain abilities,
and more prodigious than the talent given.
Is how we choose to use our facilities,
Be a light in someone’s darkness; be driven.
New Years 2018: PROCURING HAPPILY EVER AFTER
PROCURING HAPPILY EVER AFTER
I'm a young-man, yes I am 62 gettin younger;
And in the last year, I've lost two jobs, that's OK;
In 2018, it's alright, I'm procuring happily ever after;
And in 2016 my wife died, I did cry she when on home to God;
This hurts but it's alright, cause in 2018 I'm procuring happily ever after;
Now many may have solutions to all my problems;
But let me tell you all something, only God can solve them;
So I'll just kneel down and pray, this I know I do say...
In 2018 gonna let God have His way, for I am procuring happily ever after; Yeah! I know you'll read these verses and you wonder...
I'm I being honest, do I believe in happiness ever-after;
If I just trust and believe and don't look on my negative circumstances
So I'll just kneel down and pray, this I know I do say...
For I am procuring happily ever after;

As the clock strikes its last few strokes,
the old year will soon be on its way,
So, let’s bid farewell to what has been
and not be too sad this day,
Another year’s lessons etched upon
our hearts,
With courage and hope, let’s welcome
this new year and begin with a fresh
start.
In gardens of change, the seeds of our
hopes we sow,
Each seedling new flowers will bloom
and grow,
Ready to write a new chapter and
start anew,
Chasing our dreams, witnessing them
come true.
So goodbye, old year, the lessons you
taught me I hold dear,
With gratitude and hope, I am ready
to welcome the New Year and face
what lies ahead without doubts or fear.
Happy New Year to everyone and a big
thank you for all your support and
encouragement throughout the year.

A bluebird came streaking violently out of Central Park,
it blurred over the lanes of traffic towards 220.
I flinched in anticipation of the impact,
but at the last second it darted directly up,
as if caught in a sudden wind current.
“Did you see that?” I asked Lisa.
She didn’t, her phone was jiggling.
My boyfriend left yesterday
He had to leave before New Year’s eve!
he has to work and cannot play
he finally gets to run the hadron collider
go get em’ tiger
but I’ve decided
you can’t fight the zeitgeist
that when the cats away
the girls will have their day.
Someone start the music please,
because it’s NEW YEARS Eve!
Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!

Songs for this:
There goes my baby by Kelly Jones
Back on the chain gang by the pretenders
Twenty twenty one was odd from beginning to end
December was oddly warm with hardly a chilly wind
The rose bushes kept a blooming and folks still mowed
We did need rain but hardly a drop ever showed
January roar like a winter beast with icy winds a blast
New Years Day was rainy with temperatures dropping fast
With wind chills it was ten below even got a little snow
Twenty twenty two begins back like we always knew
Mother Nature freezing us in coldness deep blue
The furnace keeps the house cozy and warm
Baking in the oven for winter treats we all yearn
Sleeping with extra blankets and the cat and two dogs
If you walk by the fireplace throw in an extra log
Goodbye twenty twenty one we had enough of you
Hello twenty twenty two may our faith and hopes come true
Be my friend
Walk with me when I am walking
Sit with me when I am sitting
Hug me when I need a hug
Talk with me when I need someone to talk to
Ignore me when I am angry
Hold me when I am crying
Be there through my sorrows
Help me carry the load when I am struggling
Be there when I need someone
Help me to move on with my life
Be the one person who never judges me
Show me how to be a better person
Most of all love me for who I am
With all my faults
Also the good parts as well
Just be the person you are
My beloved
My Friend
Written by my mom on New Years day 2014
This is the first poem of hers that I have ever read.
Mama Rocks! I hope she writes more.
Covid, political divides, natural disasters…carnage in Ukraine…
hunger, oppression, bigotry…agony and pain.
I imagine for some people the best thing they can say abut 2022
Is that they have survived…is that they made it through.
No year is ever perfect…for in that time frame—12 months long…
there are many mistakes that will be made…many things that can go wrong.
But once we accept an entire year cannot be perfect…we’re no longer filled with fear…
and we begin to look for moments of perfection in the imperfections of the year.
An engagement, a wedding, a newborn baby’s birth…
friendships…all the beauty that surrounds us on this Earth.
We realize these moment of perfection are attainable…
they don’t have to be a fantasy…a myth.
how they depend less upon the moment…
and more on who we share that moment with.
Imagine how long we’d have to wait…how often we would pause…
If we chose to see as perfect…only moments without flaws.
Take my poetry for instance…(no comments please!) but wouldn’t it be absurd…
If I waited for that perfect poem…why I’d never write a word.
So I’d rather spend my time looking for perfection in the imperfect year ahead…
which bings me not to many New Year’s resolutions…but only one instead
As I step into a new year…this is what I’m going to do….
I resolve to look for more moments of perfection than I found in 2022.
(Sung To The Song "A Spoonful Of Sugar" By Julie Andrews...From the film..Mary Poppins)...(1964)
A winters New Year's Day cold swim
May seem irrational and grim
And dress-up fun is...set!
For that sea dip
The goosebumps marinated skin
Teeth fast chattering
A grimace, the tingles, the constant shivering
When.. a.. freezing cold water swim helps awaken the soul
Awaken the soul-oul
Awaken the soul
When a freezing cold water swim helps awaken the soul
In a most unusual way
The rapid breathing and nose drips
And the strange blueness of my lips
My heart is now pumping extremely fast
While in the sea so cold and grey
Frozen eyes that won't obey
And icicles...are new...extentions to my hair
When a freezing cold water swim helps awaken the soul
Awaken the soul-oul
Awaken the soul
When a freezing cold water swim helps awaken the soul
In a most unusual way.
Wishing my body was much fatter
For protection and some warmth
But then, I hear the others scream and cheer
From each and every swimmer here
Money for charities we hold dear
We cheer and cheer
The mon-ey raised
Is very, very high
Br-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-ahh
When a freezing cold water swim helps awaken the soul
Awaken the soul-oul
Awaken the soul
When a freezing cold water swim helps awakens the soul
In a most unusual way.

In 2022 I resolve to be less accommodating.
Not the first one to yell “I will do it”,
often putting everyone else’s needs before my own.
I resolve to become aware when I am being taken advantage of,
and it was my own idea.
I will stop offering to go first, be first, taste first.
I will hang back and wait for someone else to be the pigeon.
When someone is moving, I will not begin collecting boxes for them.
When a stray dog shows up, I will not order a new dog bed.
I will look at myself and think “what do I need?”
before I think “I had better do this, that and the other” for another.
In 2022 I resolve to be less accommodating.
Oh, you need to borrow a car? Sure. Here are my keys.
2023’s off to a wonderful start
Lost my wallet at the mini-mart
Right away though things got worse
My wife misplaced her cash purse…
One of our kids is home in bed
Said he fell on the side of his head
Another one sprained both wrists
trying to execute a 360-degree twist…
The bathroom flooded over this morn
Just as a car rammed into the house, honking its horn
And the officer who arrived to investigate
Tripped and broke his leg on our rusty gate
Of course, the new year’s not a day old yet
There’s much more havoc to come
I think I’ll scatter a box of thumbtax ~
I just hate it when life’s humdrum
