Remember Me

—The Letters the Earth Learned to Read—

Remember me not for the heights I climbed,
nor for the names the restless world preserves.
The candle does not ask the sun for praise;
it only keeps a little room from dark.
I pray thee, measure not my life by deeds,
but by the tender things I left undone.

Remember me beside the garden gate,
where spring arrived before my hands returned.
Do not recall the roses I had grown,
but those small flowers left thirsty in the dust.
For in their silence lived a gentler truth—
the care I meant to give and never gave.

Remember the blue coat beside the door,
the cup that cooled beside the evening chair,
the letter folded underneath the book,
the words that trembled but refused the air.
Those words I carried past my final hour,
undelivered, yet never truly lost.

For silence was not death, nor was it void;
it was a chamber where forgotten things
awaited seasons that the heart had missed.
And there beneath your garden’s patient roots,
the rain descended like a reading hand
upon the page I never learned to write.

No ink remained. No mortal script survived.
Yet from that darkness rose a field of blooms,
each petal holding what my lips withheld,
each fragrance bearing what my soul concealed.
You thought the earth had answered only spring;
the earth had answered me.

Those flowers were not flowers after all—
they were my unfinished sentences made flesh,
my silent vows returned in living form,
my absent voice translated into light.
The garden was the letter I could not send;
the world became the hand that carried it.

So when your fingers touch those petals late,
and evening gathers softly at your feet,
do not seek me in the monuments of men,
nor in the victories that vanish like smoke.
Find me where imperfect things endure,
where broken songs still remember their first note.

For I was never what my years achieved,
nor what the world could weigh and call my worth.
I was the love that waited in my silence,
the word that died upon the edge of speech,
the seed that found another way to bloom.

And this alone I leave beneath the stars:
what human hands abandon, love completes;
what mortal tongues surrender, time restores.
Remember me—not as the life I lived,
but as the life my unfinished heart revealed.

Premium Member Sign a Petition To Stop Fgm- Follow Up To My Girl Rising Poem

Dear Soupers, some of you have read my piece on FGM….Female Genital Mutilation for Richard Lamoureux’s Contest: Girl Rising. One of you has suggested signing a petition so that this grievous practice will be stopped. I’m happy to inform you that something IS being done by my church organization in the enditnow campaign. The Women’s Ministries Department of the SDA church along with ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency), a non-profit organization, have banded together to get petitions signed to bring about awareness about this awful practice so that steps can be taken to outlaw it in many African countries. You CAN sign and be a part of it. The letter you will be signing is going to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon. Yes...all the way to the TOP! I JUST NOW signed and it is as easy as pie! Please...take a stand.

Here is the link: Please check it out if you want to speak out for those whose voices are not heard.

A Letter To The Moon

Silver sentiel, silent sphere,
You've orbited through every year.
Your face a map of time's own gleam, Reflecting
every human dream. The lover's sighs, The warriors plight, Bathed in your impartial light.

You ask no questions, offer no reply.
Just watch ages flutter by. I imagine you listening, Your face a soft gleam. Reflecting the fragments of my waking dream. I wish for a garden, where colors can riot, and time is worthwhile. Not of Earth, but of star dust, a landscape unseen. Where thoughts take their form, vibrant and keen. With my thoughts in a whirl, I imagine a companion, someone who sees patterns in the dust motes that fly. And finds their own music in a lullaby.

Do you think wishes sent upwards, have anywhere to go? Or are they just echoes, that fade and than cease, Lost in the vastness, finding no peace? Moon, you are a pale disc, hung high serene, A silent observer, a cosmic queen.

Premium Member Are You Listening, God

Are You listening, God?
       I'm not perfect; I'm flawed--
Spoke not the truth; 'twas all fraud.
And did they applaud? Hah! They guffawed.

       Are You listening, God?
       I'm weak; I'm not tough:
         Not strong, a creampuff;
         Like twinkies, cotton candy, fluff.

       Are You listening, God?
I thought I was brilliant; I was dull:
My 'great ideas' all came to null.
No genius was I; I had a numb skull.

       Are You listening, God?
       Then hear my plea:
         I confess to my abysmal condition;
Have mercy on me and on my petition.

Why SHOULD You help, You say?
Isn't it enough that I pray?

Well, You're right. I need to do better; I need to improve.
I need not to grumble; I need to be humble.
I need not to curse and make things worse when I stumble.
         And now that I've tumbled,...

       I need to show that I mean it when I say I'll do better;
A man's word is his bond, right down to the last letter.

I'm going to improve! You just wait and see.
So, thanks for having this little pep talk with me!

Premium Member A Letter On the Desktop

My parent left me their home when they passed, in much needed-repair.
I restored the attic into an office, hugging bookcases against the walls.
Aging darken ember, creaking wood floor that had been left bare.
A musty odor still lingers in the old leather bound books.
I'll always have both my parents in my heart and will preserve my mother's looks
and will keep them there 'til my days are few with often recalls.

Behind my desk hardly concentrating, silently sitting
focused on a letter I found in an old book. The letter
was addressed to me, from my mother. I can see her knitting
the words, "When God gave you to me He knew I would need you, Shaw."
The musty odor of the letter prickles my nose as I draw
it up closer to read. I miss her and the times we spent together.

I couldn't resist to place a letter my son wrote and posted on Facebook for Mother's Day

Bo Roper? to Eve Roper 5/13/2018
 •

Happy Mother's day to the most amazing sweet kindhearted woman I know. You have been through so much in life and you have always been a rock. You stay strong for others not just for yourself because what matters to you the most is everyone else around you. I have never seen a bigger heart like yours and no matter if someone takes advantage of it you never stop being who you are and I have always admired that about you. Love you Mom more than anything and I know having to put up with me and your other son's sometimes is not the easiest I thank you for everything that you have been for us. Love you Mom Happy Mother's Day!!!!

A Silent Observer Speaks

'He rained on me,' the Silent Letter said...
But all I brought to him, were words of Joy!
(But here, he says, "that Rain was of Delight!
Of tender thoughts, for I was once a Boy...)

'He cannot know my Mission, sighed the Disappointed Page:
To take Him by the hand, and lead him Home
To quiet books and havens, free from arrogance or rage,
To fastnesses, where blooms the scent of loam,,,'

(But here, he says, "epistle! Friend!
I'd bring no grief to thee!")
And then, he smoothes the soft folds out,
Leans back against a tree
Beneath which, loves were shared and shed...
Soft now! That tree... is me!

Premium Member Pray For America

Peace declaration between the Red and the Blue.
Raise our hands and our hearts to The Lord.
Act now, because 'later' will be too late.
Young and old alike must take responsibility.

Forget about who is Red or Blue, Liberal or Conservative.
Opportunity(us) knocks, and God will open the door.
Republicans nor Democrats, but only God can save us.

All the world is watching and waiting; Many are hoping.
Many miscues, missteps, and mistakes have been made.
Every prayer brings us that much closer to civility and God.
Reach out beyond yourselves and into the hearts of others.
'I' is a letter in 'AmerIca' representing you and me.
Cease from criticizing everyone disagreeing with you,
And let us pray that God will have mercy on us all.

Er2 the Sequel

Come rain or shine
The children of Penny Lane
Gather to play and while away
At Lady Madonna

Out polishing her front doorstep
Day by day
On her run down council tenement terrace house
She is so house proud

But expectant visitors never come
Nothing alive has crossed over
Since that letter was delivered

Notification her Husband and Son
Where alas no more
Casualties of war

Merely your country owes you a debt of gratitude sincerely sorry for your loss

With no body to repatriate nothing
to put in a coffin or bury she couldn't even
plan or mourn at their funeral

Eleanor Rigby

Where do they all the lonely people
Come from and go

God only knows the time and place

Post This Letter For Me

We are walking on the fine lines
That connects to the other side
Its exterior is very thin and you need
A giant telescope to document all the sordid
Boon and the naturalist colors; time is of
essence and you must be on time for the wedding
the guest are pouring in and the choir began to sing
the ceremony is about to begin so tell the guest to
walk through the doors that that leads from the basement
to the upper floor; you can only take that route once
to achieve your mission way up in the sky . You don’t have
enough time to remain on the ground, so follow your
heart where destiny is bund; take the side road that leads from
the main street and walk on the steps below and you will find
the platform that leads you the train station. You will find
the airline waiting gallery on the other side.
This might be the last time we will meet so post this letter for me
Tell my beau that I am coming to see thee at half past three

Tell my beau that the earth is flat you view it from the back
Tell my beau that the earth is round if you wear queen Elizabeth’s crown. Water is in the rocks and science can prove that
And you must get ready for the after shock.
Tell my beau that I will be true to thee; my hands are tied
But I will go with you to see where the arches merge with the sky
Heavens will bend once before you can see the sun and you will know
Howthe original journey began.I don’t need a lot of things for the
Journey; I only want enough money.I will carry only what I need for the journey, so keep your hopes high and tarry with me and let courage c
complets the journey. Post this letter for me.

As she opened the letter
She thought she'd feel better.
But this wasn't to be.

The letter was from John.
Whom she had loved long
And now he was setting her free.

Cowardly John.
Who she depended upon,
Now had decided to flee

To love evermore
A life together to explore
Was what John had promised to me.

What a despicable man
And fool that I am
To be attracted to a thug

That crawled from the ground.
And a target he found
I should stamp on this creep like a bug.

A bug no John's worse.
I feel a need to curse
But revenge will not ease my pain.

I'll rip up John's letter.
And trust I'll feel better.
Imagining what could have been confetti is rain
