PETS AT CHRISTMAS
Jingle bells ringing
in collar of my puppy.
Shiny silver crown
glistens on head of kitten.
Necklace of stars worn by hen.
Restless rabbit runs rapid
wearing band of glossy beads.
As I sing carol,
pretty parrot starts whistling.
Quack call by duck and ducklings.
My pets in parade
encircling the Christmas tree.
All in joyous mood.
Santa Claus smiles at center.
I offer cake to each pet.

these kittens are getting squirrely and loud said mama cat
Papa was annoyed; he wanted to read his newspaper in peace
the kittens seemed kittenish to him, and that was that
mewing and whining during breakfast took away his ease
why don’t you kittens go play out in the wilds he said that day
his wife gave him a warning growl, but had nothing else to say
the kittens were astounded, they loved this idea from pappy
they jumped the table and headed for the woods, feeling happy
mama kitten gave papa the eye and a stern look or two
are you going with them? she asked, and he immediately knew
If he did not go with the kits, he would never hear the end of it
and if there is one thing he did not want it was a wife having a fit.
Your small kitten ears point up to the sky,
They’re black, fluffy and soft, made of silk.
And you stand on all fours, back arched like a church,
As you lick from your bowl full of milk.
Then your eyes look up, pleading for tender,
Pleading for touch, to be loved and embraced.
And you reach your claws out, webbed amongst mine,
And our fingers become interlaced.
You delicately stroke your cheek against mine,
Up, down, all around, then you emit a soft purr.
Then your claws gradually strip down the length of my back,
And I know that you’re no amateur.
I love you, my lover, I love your love kinks,
I love your uniforms, your suits and top hat.
I especially love when you dress up as a pussy,
When you become my wanton woman, my cat.
Under a guava tree, I rest
Like me, a kitten also roosts
Both are excited to begin our quest;
And the tree gives us the best of the best
Seeing the birds for the first day,
The kitty thinks he can fly;
Climbing over the branches of guava tree,
Savouring the flowers, he smiles with glee
Glimpsing the birds hoping over the branches,
My mind kindles the memories avalanche;
I was sitting with my dad at the same place,
conversing about the garden we raise
Planning to plant some fruiting trees around,
And the plants to get flowers all year round;
A garden full of flowers, butterflies and birds, he dreamed,
His idea of providing an half plot for gardening was highly esteemed
Now the guava tree started bearing fruits;
His favourite kopsias are in full bloom;
But he is not with us to cherish the things, I thought,
until I saw a bulbul savoring the fruit
Squirrels, spiders, bulbuls,butterflies and moth
and sometimes koels and kittens, both
All live together in the guava tree
Yes, plenty of lives I see
Through these creatures' plethora
I feel my dad's pure aura .
Under the guava tree,
Now my mind is stress free ,
For I feel my dad's aura,
under the guava tree
In the mountains, lived a special pup
He was gentle, kind and so amazing
His antics were true, never made up
My meals he was forever appraising
He often seemed to be star gazing
In the hills, where this guy was born
There lived a kitten with dark gray fur
He often felt her exasperating scorn
His life went by so fast, it’s such a blur
He’s the pup my heart will always prefer
In the times when he was so young
His gentleness caused me to smile
Admiration was always on my tongue
For he was a dog who was never hostile
He taught his friends how to live in style
In the moments, before he left this world
He gave a sigh and fell across my lap
I petted his fur, so very soft and curled
Remembering his fear of every thunderclap
He was full of love that I’d happily unwrap
In the mountains, beneath forest trees
Lived a pup who was wild and free
He listened but mostly did as he pleased
Sometimes, he’d sit and scratch a flea
But, always, he’d be right there for me!
See the sneering of the student,
I think she's angry at the rodent.
She finds it hard to see the kitten,
Overshadowed by her shiny mittens,
Who is that standing near the truck?
I think she'd like to run a muck
.
She is but an exciting student,
Yet scared as she sits upon the foment
So set and yes she screams help,
As the rodent rats run whelps and yelps.
Racing wiggles in out of alley
Leaping out trashcans stinking, smelly.
So set and yes she screams help,
As the rodent rats run whelps and yelps.
She’s so sneering still the student,
I think she's scared of the rodent

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. 2020©
The dumped starved kitten meowing at the old barn
His meow loud and clear, but him could not find
Several days later my grandson brought him home
Weak, famished kitten
He took the kitten to his mom, she bathed him then
Pulled off eight ticks from his tiny body so weak
They were going on a trip so my grandson
Brought CC to me
I boiled some chicken and he did eat his fill
Still so weak, he could hardly hold his head up
Gradually gained some strength and played
CC mighty Tom
I kept CC while they were gone, itchy-eyed
Nose dripping then they were home, but didn't want him
I called humane society, but could not reach them
After pain called pound
My available funds are limited now
Food for animals is very expensive
CC, how I hope they find a home for you
Orange-stripped small wonder

The sick elephant, perished at sunset!
Headline news, tears, anger, outrage and scorn.
A worldwide sadness, her baby just born!
Monies were collected, protests in the streets.
Medallions with her picture worn,ah, hearts so torn!
~~
A kitten walks the street alone, we save her!
We scream, "Where is humanity's soft heart?"
Organizations formed then, for feral cats.
We pour huge funds into shelters at once.
But whay of the unborn human, about to be
killed?
Sleeping, softly in their mother's warm womb?
Little fingers, sweet little toes, about to die?
Our hearts, souls, eyes, do we in denial close.
Millions upon millions, will indeed today, die.
Never to see sun, moon, stars or bluest sky.
Taken by methods too cruel to speak.
Angel babies killed in abortion mills.
The world weeps not a tear for human loss, still!
For the unborn, all, yes I will take a stand.
In a world that adores trees more than the
family of man.
A ghoulish thought, human life surrendered.
A baby is not a bad tooth to remove by any
Governments monies, freely tendered.
Sing not to me, that you love humanity!
Nor of world peace, when our own kind we kill.
Yes, aware man wants to this world control.
This world is not yours, it belongs to God.
What good, this verse, in a so very cold world?
Why! So you dare use fetal cells,I ask why?
To use them in a vaccine, you drool for?
Their cells floating in your selfish bloodstream?
We pen about the evils of truly great men?
We hum and talk to Muses, how very!!
We buried God, we loathe free nations.
Globalism only, downing, all the rest.
Then wonder, why all the worldly unrest?
Laughing our lives away, a great escape?
Reality, no, never on our plates!
Good, unborn people destroyed,oh how we do cheer.
Unethical, political thieves and snakes we adore.
As we quill, on God's sunny shores.

So be it!
what shall i write
of one whom i've
already written
what say i now
to my little kitten
what shall i say of her
so humble so proud
with a special calling
her Lord has endowed
busy in her servitude
she is everyday
my joy in knowing her
is that for me she prays
i see her gift of caring
in the things she does
i've seen her being daring
to protect the things she loves
a woman on a mission
is what she is to me
for she has been commissioned
Dear Lord to work for thee
God bless my little kitten
never let her stray
and bless her with Your miracles
every time she prays
Form:
It felt so good, like we were movie stars
You were with me, my friends, in my suped-up car
Through the village street at such high-octane speed
Tyres screech, car screams, girls see.
Bump the kerb, skid through the bend
We are men in a car, driving like this mission won't end
Police give chase, blue lights flashing behind
This is where the night changes from fun to wild
Now forcing harder and sharper at corners and bends
One mistake now and it all ends.........
People gather near the pub
Streetlights shine over the blood
Car is dead, crashed into a wall
Friends are dead, seat belts and all!
Policeman is the last one I see
Pain, blood, metal sticking out of me
He winces when he sees the bloody mess
Looks into my eyes with a sad grimace
I hear the siren of the ambulance come
I turn my head to see the paramedics run
I turn back to see the policeman in the cold dark rain
With tears in his eyes he asks me my name
I smile and before I can speak it to him
The sounds all around and my sight go really dim
Then blackness as I hear my father cry and my mother scream
My brothers are so sad, my kitten yowls on my bed in the night,
he can't sleep.
A photo of me when I was in the scouts
A young smiling face with such promise and dreams
Over a coffin with me in.
My father still cries, my mother still screams.
