Woke up at 7:30am
Just to turn off my alarm clock
Wanna stay in bed cuz it's Friday
But I can't cuz I gotta go to school
Wait what,
What its name again
Cuz I forgot it last night playing
Call Of Duty: Black Ops III?
Anyways,
Got up from bed and wore
Some of my freshest clothes
Thinking to myself
"Gotta look fresh for the ladies"
But then it hit me
I'm going to ILP
And none of the ladies will ever
Like me or my clothes
So take those clothes off
And wear some lame shorts
You dumb nugget!
Gotta keep it PG
Went to go outside
But my ride, or school bus,
Just left me here at my house.
So go back to bed Kenny
Cuz its nighty night
During a school day.
Funkin AT THE CHICKEN SHACK – Tony Adamo - 1990
Jimmy Smith was laying down an incredible riff on a wall of kinetic sound that was oozing out of my car radio. I was on my way back from a singing gig at an Indian Restaurant. Saturday night is jazz night in the City by the Bay. On my approach to the Bay Bridge, I could see the fog was cold and watery wet, as it lay low and crept along like solders on night patrol in Vietnam.
I steered my Chevy Nova like it was a priceless Lamborghini the musical transition of thought. No traffic on the B Bridge…2:00AM on the steel span and all was right with me. Jimmy smith with friends Kenny Burrell, Stanley Turrenting, and drummer, Donald “Duck” Bailey were my musical guides for the ride.
I dug deep as I had to slow down. The fog was horror movie thick. Now I had time to think to the 100th power. Sho’ ‘ nuff and came up with Don Patterson, Richard Groove Holmes,Charles Earland, George Fame, Wild Bill Davis, Shirley Scott, Big John Patton, Baby Face Willette, Larry Young, Brother Jack McDuff, Jimmy Magriff. That’s where it’s at baby. The royal bloodline of B-3 players who brought us into R&B, Pop, Rock & Roll and Soul Jazz. Into the swingin’ feature goes Joey “D”. No boundries, no limits.
Bridge:
Back at the Chicken Shack people dancin’ to a kookin’ groove.
Breakin’ out into a funk sweat
Boogie sounds brewin’ from the B-3
Your twisted sister never danced like that
Reuben Wilson and his killer sounds was a stackin’ the beat shakin’ the Chicken Shack down to its feet
(Solo)
(Bridge)
What a beautiful and dynamic management of mind, body and intellect goes into coaxing Soul Jazz out of a fat Hammond B-3 organ. Was it the foggy, misty, jazzy night? Or…was it that I actually got paid to sing Jazz? No! It was Jimmy Smith’s playin’ that was vibbin’ me along the steel rail. The joyous atmosphere that hung in dense textures of musical thought was punctuating my life like bayonets turning to thumb prints on the consciousness of my creative mind. It was in thick reference to the wet fog rippling across the bridge, like fingers on a Hammond B3, Jimmy and me……free to be.
From Tony Adamo's Miles of Blu Cd/ Hipspoken Word
An angel in heaven she'll be
Seeing her best friend Kenny
Another legend in the sky
Spreading wings so she can fly
She gave us songs of truth she told
That were about her life and bold
Along with cute and happy ones
That were catchy and so fun
She was an angel down here first
Her heart brought happiness to earth
She helped those who were in need
She was never rude or mean
She grew up poor but she was humble
Never a complaint or grumble
Just a country girl that stayed
To her unselfish caring ways
In heavens choir she is singing
An angel voice that is bringing
Joy and happiness above
With her gentle and pure love
A hole was dug, Kenny was placed in a small box
Tears trickled down,
down,
down
Only six months of life
He would stand on our shoulder, preen our hair,
fly around the room
Then at night he would go into his cage, locked away, covered
One morning there he lay upon the floor of the cage
gone forever from our presence
"It was a beautiful whore of a day", he reasoned, "maybe she will have even less on !"
The little band of misfits garnered the stares of mall patrons as they ran as fast as their puppet legs could manage, (without being high on a coke/steroid cocktail, called a Dynobowl). (There was also blood doping, which consisted of shooting up minute amounts of plasma), but they had no time for bloodsport. They were gonna be a bloodspurt, if Michael caught up to them and with his Tri-Lam athletics background that would happen sooner than later. They needed "a plan" and fast !
Kenny the drug dealer and Silky the 44th street pimp looked around for contacts, as did Penney, it was instinct. There had to be a "John or a hoodlum" there somewhere, after all, it was the mall. A family place for shopping,
pictures, waves to friends and tight lipped hookers (if they knew what was good for them). Then there was a place to sit and eat where Mom and Dad could argue in front of the entire mall. Johnny could show under the table to Lucy what he stole and she could show what she stole. Whomever had the biggest total (in cost!) wins. However, a belt made out of the "booty" automatically added five points. What? Those are the rules, (I didn't invent them).

A budding comedian didn’t expect folk
to exit the room when he told a rude joke
But the air turned blue when he was on stage
and his risqué humour caused total outrage
Go home ignoramus, jeered Kenny Lopper -
he meant what he said, he’s the local copper
Alas the comedian ignored big Kenny’s request
and soon his time on stage would be suppressed
Listen moron, never ostracise policemen, quick
gather your belongings, unless you’re really thick
Don’t show your face again, yeah sling your hook
or I’ll take down your particulars in my notebook!

It happened again this afternoon
A lady requested my autograph
Mistaking me for Kenny Rogers
Sure gave me a great big laugh
If only I had Kenny's money
I'd be chuckling all the way to the bank
Right now I'm avoiding all my creditors
My bank account's coming up blank
Perhaps I'll become a male prostitute
An easy way to make a few bucks
Still look pretty good for a dude my age
Though I sometimes waddle like a duck
But perhaps that's not for this old guy
My morals are quite high you know
It's extremely rare when I'm at the beach
For any of my white bits to show
Guess I'll continue this sneaky charade
Sign Kenny on my restaurant checks
Why not, I might as well take advantage
Of our amazing similarities, by heck!

A re-broadcast
I'm the gambler with the empty hand
Even though she believes in me
Through the years, I've folded every plan
Twenty years ago, our skies were sunny
Even though she believes in me
They said, don't fall in love with a dreamer
Twenty years ago, our skies were sunny
As I chased islands in the stream
They said, don't fall in love with a dreamer
My lady lost much more than money
As I chased islands in the stream
Lucille, you shouldn't have bet on me
My lady lost much more than money
Through the years, I've folded every plan
Lucille, you shouldn't have bet on me
I'm the gambler with the empty hand.

Kenny Rogers songs:
The Gambler
She Believes in Me
Through the Years
Twenty Years Ago
Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer
Islands in the Stream

Gus was confused as soon as he said it.
"That was me, but it wasn't, I mean", he stammered,
"I said it, but it wasn't from my mind!"
Penney looked at Gus and reasoned,
"that is a message, you barnacle brain!"
She continued, because she HAD to.
"The spirits need our help against Hillary, evidently,
she has stabbed them in the back, and is in the
drivers seat, ready to depose them". "Just ask, Vince Foster and the myriad of others", chimed Kenny. Pedopriest Peter made an upside down cross pattern and folded his hands in prayer. "Osteen, what do we do?
How may we next serve thee?!"
The Ouija board began to jump a bit- so Gus
resumed with the feather.
"S,h,e...o,n,l,y...l,i,s,t,e,n,s...t,o...B,l,a,c,k,R,o,c,k...
A,l,e,i,s,t,e,r,C,r,o,w,l,e,y...o,r...J,e,f,f,r,e,y,E,p,s,t,e,i,n...o,r...J,o,h,n,P,o,d,e,s,t,a...A,l,b,e,r,t,B,o,u,r,l,a,O,f,P,f,i,z,e,r
(o,f,C,o,u,r,s,e,A,p,p,a,r,e,n,t,l,y,E,v,e,r,y,o,n,e,H,a,s,T,o,
L,i,s,t,e,n, T,o,T,h,i,s,O,v,e,r,l,o,r,d,O,f,D,e,a,t,h).
Gus looked his comrades over, this spirit has alot to
say! "May I ask your name?"...
"L, u, c, i,f,e,r"!
Gus had a smug look on his face,
"I knew it was one of Osteens boys!"
Gus was impossible to live with now, having called
that one, bingo!...
