An Odd Bird
The seagull and I were flying over the Andes.
the mountain was brown, and we saw a lake green
as an emerald ring on an Irish girl`s finger.
Let’s fly down and have a bath I said, the gull said
the lake was poisonous, so we continued on our way
to the pampas of Argentine.
Landed on a jade green patch of the land
it was then the seagull confessed it suffered
from hydrophobia, it was, therefore, it had left
the Pacific Ocean and avoid derision from birds
that loved the sea and diving for fish.
But a seabird is supposed to like fish.
Who says, the gull angrily uttered I like cooked
meat with boiled potatoes, anything wrong with that!
we walked to an inn, that is the bird sat on my
shoulder, had lamb chops with mint sauce, are you not
surprised to see a bird in here, I asked the landlord,
no not at all it often comes in here it is
the first time I have seen it with a human.
Well-favored Winter Jasmine,
how have you managed to survive?
It's long past the briskness of Autumn days.
Yet, your exquisite beauty lingers, and you thrive,
lovely petals still intact when you shouldn't be alive.
Oh, wondrous Winter Jasmine,
your plant has lost leaves of jade green.
Such a picturesque paradox within my garden,
botanical glowing when moonlight casts a sheen
upon you, creating the glint of a glimmering scene.
My perfect Winter Jasmine,
as white as the day you bloomed
on your stout stem you still stand tall,
scenting the air around you, softly perfumed.
Visions of you laced with snow, my eyes consumed.
Winsome Winter Jasmine,
I fear you're encapsulated in ice.
Not grown in freezing tundra on earth
like alpine flowers of stark white, edelweiss.
I hope your stunning show has not been a sacrifice.
Enduring Winter jasmine,
I hope you remain until Spring.
When you are warmed by the sun,
to your greening bush will you still cling,
attracting pollen seekers; honeybees on the wing?
Rumi Quote: "We are born of love; Love is our mother."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peering out the window
under ominous moon
your calm seeps into my altruistic soul
ambrosian sun sets, asleep
in meadows, fledglings find refuge
framed by jade green foliage.
Fetching footsteps felicity
as the snow melts down
you enfold us in your love
a gentle rhythm from your heart
awaken the moon butterflies
when autumn sun comes back
you support us on our tired path
may our trek be long in tandem?
When hurdles come nebulous
you improve awareness
now I grasp the reason
the rainbow itself requires
A storm brewing
to reveal its vibrant colors.
Reaching for your gleaming hair
leaving auric imprint on your scalp
never has a mother been balmily
how I hold you constantly
the eye is drawn by vanity
what's left to tell is scant.
I saw that you never step aside
quickly returning a hurried call
your input is always blithely cast
humbly, you gave it all
an eternally enduring love
dwells within your heart.
I yearn to express in shorter lines
all deserved accolades
over the course of time
your favored spell has worn off
my darling mother was my first lady
your stay was bright and cheerful!
we buried you on a chilly, windy day.
Silence………A solemn hush
except
for
insects
running
amongst the jade green grass
and the large invasive vines.
Large cypress trees,
stately and tall,
throw shadows around me
as I wend my way
along the lonely lanes
of moss-covered, musty-smelling tombs
careful not to touch the poison ivy
or admire the wisteria vines.
People do visit here,
for look, bunches of flowers
adorn the place,
emitting scents to try and nullify
the staleness of the resting place.
Headstones obliterated by the wind,
makes me wonder who lies beneath.
Was she beautiful and tall?
Ugly and short?
What does it matter now?
For all I care she could have been
beautiful and short.
But some things do matter
in our personal short earthly time.
All that matters is
what we do with our life.
Death holds no sting, really.
But
don’t
touch
the poison ivy.
Shrubbery leaves and foliage, all these very gloriously and graciously green,
In my verdant jade roof top garden, reflect greenness on my laptop screen.
Verbose prolixed, scattered, strewn fill up spaces all around in my jade garden,
Soak and fill me with haunting memories of Rita, Irene, Jeanne, Jolene and Celine.
Of sweetness and tenderness envious nostalgic musings ever so green,
To my mind’s eye these imagery still emerge at will very pristine and clean.
Between fourteen and eighteen up here they broke my warm, gentle and fond heart,
Then at nineteen it was here in this greenery with Norma Jean, we abruptly fell apart.
Green the world seemed to me when I sat here all these years alone and lonely,
Scripting and crafting dense verses of earthly passions that are profound, eloquent and comely.
Glorious greens, gorgeous greens, jade greens,
All mankind reveres the vitality you create that is meant for kings and queens.
But for me the color green,
Often remind me of my recent sojourns with Maureen and Pauline.
So to now to reflect and meditate splashes of green I imagine feel and use,
my heart chakra to open and feel love , empathy and compassion and forlorn thoughts to diffuse.
Green… green…green….. I have now sensed and seen….
Will come before me for times umpteen and as a routine.
Put on your night shoes, my beautiful dear,
and put on your gossamer gown.
Adorn your neck with the iridescence
of opal, and let your hair down!
Your tresses cascading – a blonde waterfall -
let them flow! Then to emphasize
a chatoyant sheen, use the jet black
of liner on your jade green eyes!
On lips that are dulcet, use a soft pink
like cherry tree blossoms in spring.
Flourescence they’ll see with you on my arms,
for darling, you’ll be flowering!
Dinner; then on the pool deck we’ll Samba,
and under a plethora of
stars we see dancing above our cruise ship,
we will outshine them all with our love!
At the dawn of our day I will invite
Rays of gold to shine on our strife
So we can witness as budding sunshine
Evaporates gently the mist of night.
As you arrive to welcome the daybreak
You don't have to call out my name,
For I hear the cry of breath you take
And the sound of grief your heart makes.
Hand in hand we will guide lost hope
Rescuing cheer from its hiding place
When glory of life falls within our scope
We'll embrace sparkle of a brand new day.
As we say goodbye to remnants of night
Your jade-green eyes will ignite a spark
Inviting an embrace of doting pause
Welcoming passionately love that once was.
