I’m feeling a little irked and discombobulated.
The soup is for all poets It’s not that complicated.
I’m tired of all the whiners and their fits of jealous rage.
It’s time to act your age and move on to another page.
I don’t care about your comments or the contest you didn’t win.
Stop preaching from your pulpit, you are not free from sin.
I’m sick of the conspiracy theories, it’s time to check your clock.
I don’t want to read it here, this is for poetry, it’s not tik tok.
I am fully vaccinated it was my choice to get that shot.
It’s your choice to not get jabbed, stop acting like a snot.
You say my genes are altered, to me you sound like a nut.
I guess I’ll die in three years, until then you can kiss my butt.

So many want only to decorate
Over life, dapple in shiny paint
From responsibility, they choose to excuse
Their delicate hands from such a bruise
They are irked, if asked to lurk
In the murk of work
They think they are owed a road
That is freely breezy
After all, it is easy
To do what is easy
To do what is hard
Takes more regard
Elbow grease ain't pretty
But you need nitty-gritty
To build a city
It is not the starry-eyed seeker of fame
Who is processing your insurance claim
Or unclogging your drains, or growing your grains
That sleek-cheeked, vainglorious movie star
Isn't down at the garage, fixing your car
Spare me the confetti and pompous flash
My admiration is for those picking up my trash
Let's cheer the truck driver and the cashier
The factories and taxis that bring jobs here
The blue-collar unions that creates careers
From lessons of concessions during depressions
A paycheck's a better bet
Than esoteric expressions.

On a stone wall, by the solitary pavement,
Annoyed and angry, with daggers drawn at everyone,
I saw my neighbor sitting dejected and depressed.
Though known him for years, of late he has changed much.
His eyes had grown so cold, and his mind, so blank.
His vision, I felt was blurred by a hazy mist.
He was seen with his gaze fixed at the horizon far,
Like a block of stone, hardly noticing anyone, he sat.
From a distance, came a barking sound,
It was from his dog that followed its master’s trail.
Seeing a rodent, behind a wild bush
The dog was barking nonstop on and on
The mangy animal was once so loved,
Now left wantonly uncared and unattended.
With incessant bark it was disturbing the calm around.
This greatly irked the man, otherwise annoyed.
Instant was his response and rash, his action.
Picking up a stone and aiming at the dog,
He hurled the stone with all his might,
And sad! It hit hard on his target.
Oppressively hurt by the whizzing stone,
The dog twitched and yelled in pain.
Licking its wound, it ran round and round,
Along the concrete path, mad and wild.
At last, slowing down and turning its direction
Towards its master, it moved fast.
Petrified, on an impulse, he jumped down,
And fearing the worst, he closed his eyes.
But wagging its tail with a pleading look
It began licking its master’s hand.
The hand so rude that clutched the stone,
And had flung at it, causing it to bleed.
It was a gesture too deep for words,
That taught the man the lesson of love:
Love others with every broken piece
Even after someone breaks one's heart.
After years, it remains the best example
Of forgiveness, I have ever seen and assimilated.
It helps me forget all bitterness towards my enemies,
Teaching me the lesson not to curse but to bless them.
I feel it was a message sent down from Heaven,
The most powerful of all sermons so far delivered.
By forgiving our enemies, one can unload the baggage,
And save our wretched lives from serious wreckage!
GOT TO CHANGE THE CRAPPY WAYS
To all kinds of crappy individuals,
who think they are high and mighty.
I find them people with no principles
for they are really mean and slimy.
I was a disability specialist for years
analyzing and processing disability claims.
I heard claimants’ demands for hours
or their attorneys’; they could be profane.
They wanted the money they believed
they were entitled for paying the premiums.
The reason for delay, they could not perceive
and the fact their employer paid the premiums.
They said or screamed, “you don’t know anything”
and asked for the supervisor or manager.
I would say they would tell you the same thing,
so read the policy for we follow the same parameter.
Their attorneys would say I am an attorney,
like telling me I was nobody and they were better.
They would say I would sue you, like it would deter me.
I said, “go ahead and send it in with documents altogether”.
I would read them the provisions of the policy, why we
need documents and they would not even have a clue.
Appeared they were just concerned about their fees
without getting and reading the policy for a review.
Some of these claimants, they did not want to work.
They filed for disability benefits, as source of income.
Telling them they were not disabled, they were irked.
No disabling conditions to take advantage of the system.
To people full of crap, like rudeness and dishonesty.
Change the crappy ways that would not get anywhere.
I am not judgmental, I am telling with complete honesty.
Cut it out, meanness, nastiness would lead nowhere.

Used RhymeZone
Two sons had equal
shares, younger squandered and lived
a lowly life, he returned
and begged forgiveness
father rejoiced with a feast
asked irked eldest, discernment
*As scriptured.
The younger son lived a flamboyant and wicked life and when he had lost all he had, he lived meagerly under a task masters whip, a pig's life. He knew he had wronged his father and went to him to beg forgiveness, but the father rejoiceth for he is alive and well. He ordered a big feast, much to the chagrin of the eldest brother who stayed and slaved under the father, irked that such a feast was never given him. His father begged the elder son to understand that his younger brother was lost to the world, but he was given back to us whole. Rejoice for your younger brother liveth.

just saw myself in the mirror
after feasting a box of pizza
cannot stand the sight of horror
and realized 'twas a bad idea
the main goal is to get lean
have my ass busy and active
but i'm lazy af to go clean
i guess its fate to get massive
got advised to get balanced diet
to lessen on sugar and carb
but the cravings are hard to quite
even giving up rice for lard
so this is what they called keto
gobbling more on fats and grease
less on meat, rice and potato
and more on veggies and cheese
some of you might get irked
but i need options and hope
please advise will this work
before i eat up this whole loaf
A mass of grey and rusted silver strewn
By the sky god from sifted appurtenances.
Preserve of ancients jousting with modernity,
Behind edifice a disperse of brimming slums
With piles, heaps of filth, debris, decay and stench;
Congestion and the jostle for ends and gains.
Benin endowed with neo wiles obviating tradition
And irked for now-now pleasure and wealth
Imitating and striving for wannabes
Inculcating habit and aspiring for a world without the sun
Yet far from assimilating it by the words of the old:
Carrot does not sprout in the root of a yam stalk.
Old city, once enliven by aestheticism
And renowned by the arts and crafts of bronze now
At the backdrop with every frontlines bedecked
By remnants of exotic necessaries. Men, vehicles rush,
Scramble and stream Ringroad and Ramat
From dawn to dusk to the abyss of nowhere
And returning home at last to the euphoric solace
Of the mellow hit of Waifo highlife
And the scores of green, brown bottles that thrive.
Benin, where once the Portuguese trespassed,
The Dutch men trampled and the British overturned
Leaving behind their long evening shadows
A new self-image chained in the heart.
CHRISTMAS ELVES
Come listen to a tale of lessons learned.
How I now cringe remembering when I
Reached up and touched a red-clad elf and turned
Idyllic moments to a time to cry!
Such ignorance! My grandson told me that
To touch an elf will break the magic spell.
My pleas to be forgiven all fell flat
At first. I'm glad to say things turned out well.
Sweet letters to irked elves can sometimes be
Enough to bring their Christmas magic back.
Long flights to Santa Claus can guarantee
Victorious good kids. Gifts--they won't lack.
Each time I see that little elf, I make
Sure I don't touch it so no hearts will break.
The Elf on the Shelf, a book by Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell, tells of little elf figures that show up at young children's houses just after Thanksgiving, observe the children's behavior, fly to the North Pole nightly till Christmas Eve to report to Santa, fly back, and land in a new spot each time. The elf is NOT to be touched.
The allure of mused poems,
No longer visits this nonchalant psyche.
It trickles now, once a roaring torrent
Now a lazy stream
Am like a desultory jaded heaven
Where starry jewels once decked the night,
But are now drossy shadowy blackholes,
And sparks and dreams,
Are ripped in the accretion disc.
No longer avid, but seeking meaning in the mundane.
No longer enraptured by the she said, he said,
And all that jazz, no iota of care; for trifling muses,
Their short goodbyes or critique, no not one,
Their infighting and bad blood, no longer,
No nuts to crack, nor rain to flush, no iota of care.
It was never about who is better,
Neither has it been nor will it ever be,
About any Magnum Opus.
Like doors closing and skies descending,
Each visiting muse devoid of ardor,
Oblivious to the yawning dawn,
Or the scent of sprouting posies.
Jaded, without allure or sheen
And devoid of all its lustre.
Maybe one day soon a spark will reignite
And reanimate this frenetic mused madness
But until then...
I remain adrift in this sea of trivialities,
Worrying about trifling stuff
Like ad blockers and AI opinions
And irked...
By their emasculating knowledge
Poem Of The Week(POTW) -9/15/2024 To 9/21/2024
I or let’s say we, perceive outer form,
till feeling within, bliss magnetism warm.
Illusions seen are but an ego ruse,
trailing as thought forms, becoming our muse.
Irked by thought spirals, that twirl us around,
trading angst for joy, in love our soul’s drowned.
Impelled by a need to garner the truth,
tailwinds divine beseech God search forsooth.
Inked by hues of love, heart lotus blossoms,
tracing playfully, bliss in all bosoms.
Is not descent into life a wonder,
tilling heart till no one is asunder?
Ignition of love, awaits us within,
tango dancing to feel bliss on our skin.
In timeless time by grace, we vaporise,
tasting flavours of life breaths in surprise.
Intimate is touch of God’s love caress,
transfixing us in bliss, free from duress.
Immediate is granting of bliss boons;
toroidal mists, within which our heart swoons.
Instant nirvana’s ours for the asking,
taming ego’s urge for multitasking.
Illumination, to soul is innate,
thwarted yet on earth by desires that bait.
In the vibrant void of silence, let’s rest,
tapering thought, we find we’re at the crest.
