Quadroon

Quadroon

An African journey through Hawaii, Haiti, a detour north
settling in between the extreme, where summers are hot
and winters are bearable.
In a country old that has an Arabic tone in the tonal voice.
Her epidermis is almond milk drunk before a spring’s dawn
with the mystic of the exotic.
Even slow her movement, a rush was not her concern
but her eyes, dark brown tiger eyes, told of passion set free
Healthy, her black hair shone brightly in nights of love.
She is old now, her hair still black, her eyes not dimmed by age
handles her walking rattans with customary stylishness
Time has been kind to her as she lives on and on.

The Hardest Test

There comes a moment
when all appears dark,
thoughts aren't as clear
as pure running water
while we travel in an ark
where nothing is seen;
nothing is heard in between.

How can a spoiled guy,
 who has been given everything
be put to the hardest test?
It's the one who makes a tight fist
and challenges life with true motivation and feeling!

Put your unpleasant past to rest,
bury its darkest moments;
have the will to start over
and tell yourself, " It's a crossover
from sadness to gladness! "
Be advised: it's the hardest test.

How can a spoiled brat who has been given everything
be put to the hardest test?
It's the one who makes a fist
and challenges life with true motivation and feeling!

Salvation can't be promised
to anybody guilty of betrayal like Jude,
strip it of any cheerless mood;
replace it with the kindest word
and be ready to face the hardest test:
you are bound to be the greatest!

How can a spoiled guy,
 who was given everything:
be put to the hardest test?
It's the one who makes a tight fist,
challenging life boldly
with true motivation and feeling!

Doesn't Christ tell us we must be reborn
to enter glorious Heaven?
Who can be whole without being torn
into pieces, looking down
at the Earth below that
doesn't have the strength
to pass the hardest test?

How can a spoiled guy,
who was given everything:
be put to the hardest test?
It's the one who makes a tight fist,
challenging life boldly
with true motivation and feeling!

Nonbelievers

Little church in the middle of nowhere, empty car in the parking lot.
Hundreds of empty souls and their memories have wandered in between halls and pews; teeth gnashing lies, angry hands signing love while simultaneously forcing their words down your throat like a medicine syringe to an infant but what have you done to be deemed sick, nonbeliever?
The trees are pink and the house is purple and when you put them together the sky turns lilac
The butterflies in the bushes don’t flutter into my hands anymore and they say it’s because I have not found god
Little girls in purple houses are losing their innocence and the pink trees are losing their appeal because demand out runs supply and, couldn’t we say the same for faith?
What haven’t we done to be deemed as sick, believer?

I have noticed
all my daily educational journeys
begin with,
Where do I come from?
And how do I feel today
about my journey so far from yesterday?
Our journey so far,
and yet not far enough?

I come from living waters
as profoundly liberating as the air
we would soon learn to breathe.

I am feeling sad
for all the opportunities I avoided
to escape all the risks
invited by my shortages of curiosity
and patience,

Sad for settling into my most intimate low commons denominator
lack of commitments
neglecting my healthiest potential connections
with other living waters,
natural spirited inspired inspirational experiences

With those who might have had ears to hear,
surf to ebb and swell emotion's wane and wax,
with low-bar instructions
to stay out of troubled oceans
seas and seasons,
lakes and swampy ponds,
waiting to be industriously drained,
rivers and endless wondering wandering tributaries
of wet extracted nutrition.

Sacred water murmurs more active hope,
a spray tickling across a lucid lupine stream
speaking mountain voices with and through rounded
risky
stones

Actively seeking sights higher
deeper
wider
narrower
there
here
then flowing on into higher water marks
now threatening to swamp organisms
and organizations along the shore
of change in all relationships of Earth.

I feel sad
I have not set my well-watered sights higher
than do no harm
to those living waters
flowing forward into time's healthiest
transparent
vulnerable,
curious and courageous future sluggish currents of nutrition,
prophets of soon to come malnutrition,
and all climatic hopes and fears
angers and sadness
in-between drowning risks
and strong-flowing currencies of win/win
wellness watering opportunity

To notice
all my daily educational journeys
begin with,
Where did I come from?
And how do I feel healthy today
about my journey sufficiently far from yesterday?
Our journey so significantly far,
and yet not far enough?

The Time

You are so quiet,
Your appetite doesn't clash with your sight,
Your wisdom doesn't match your boredom,
It is no longer your freedom.

Your absolutism is the snowball,
Your cross is searching for the remedy for your downfall,
The curse will be broken sooner,
The new life will be greener.

This life is nothing but built on your fragile memories,
Frailty peeps into the stiff tweets.
To live is to bear a double-edged sword,
To die is to fulfil the prophecy of the unknown Lord.

You are never nothing,
To predict your intent is always thought-provoking.
Words cannot always tell the tale,
Because words are flaccid.

For your mistakes to be undone,
For your profanity to be cleaned,
In between the vivid lines,
I will wait for your redemption,
And will look for you in your false solitude.

The Crazy One and the Spelling Bee, Oh I Mean, Queen

In my quest to escape monotony at work I stumbled upon this poetry site
Little did I know I would excavate a gem with a zest for life
She is also a lullaby songstress; in between my spelling and grammar blunders,
We’re a recipe for madness:crazy blogs, even stranger emails, our laughter and tears
I unearthed Nikko aka Missy, "the spelling queen" my friend with a gracious soul!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I went to have soup at a table atop a mountain, when who should I meet there?
A very pretty, sassy, missy; she did a 3/4 turn--CrAsH! (2 cabs, fender bender)!
Her laughter and madness, just totally contagious...even strangers want to kiss her!
Through her wonderful words, each petal revealed a bit more sparkle, a stunning gleam
I was so right! Wilma, "the crazy one", she's my true gem of a friend, a vivacious soul!

I dread summer

I dread the summer
I don't know why
I love the flowers
And the warmth

Maybe I don't dread summer
Just the idea of not talking to you for two months

I think I dread the idea of getting too busy
One of us always doing something
Both of us just out of reach
Like the ocean stretching for the shore
Or the moon chasing after the sun

On second thought
I don't dread summer
I dread not seeing your beautiful face every day
I dread sitting around all day
Reminding myself of just a few weeks ago where every word you said made me smile
And everything in between
I'll miss that

I still have lots to write about you

Brass windchimes
ring melodic time
backed up
and down,
back
and forth
by boisterous breeze voices
blowing somewhat more silent choices
below

Before benighted rejoice
reprise to rise
and fall
wounded fail
yet again

Melodious inside intentions
to ring true
love's restoring stories
of local justice circling
dynamic spirals inside
looking resounding out
virally
conspiratorially
anticipating healthier life within
Mother's sensual gusts

Overpowering peaceful chimes
global resting
arresting rhymes
with powerful enculturing space
enlightened green spring out times
up happy,
healthy

Driven by bountiful breeze
and this northbound tidal
grey-blue iconic river
flowing drifts back
and surging forth,

Downstream
yet again back up
in-between
indigenous natured out
spirits in

Chiming outside colonizing industrial windows
noticing
re-connecting stressful winds
and anxious tides
of not so well chimed
compassionate green change
loudly rang

While icecaps,
empowering South
and enlightening North,
silently
soundlessly
melt integrity's just right divine
dividing humane left

Eastern Earth greets Western Sun
chiming resonant hospitality
of eco/theo-logical nurturers
nourishing brass rounds
of resighted
respited
holy sounds.

October, a lament to love and heartache

October breaks my heart
When it ends, begins
And the days in between
It never lives up to my expectations
I am often disappointed in the weather
And other various things
It is anxiously waiting for the days to draw colder and the Earth to paint her face only to be met with countless days of continuing heat and an ever drying landscape
October is the month of my departed sons birth and the month of my mother's last breath
Its remembering the last time I saw the sun on his skin as he walked out of the doors of the school for the last time, the first time I experienced the death of a friend
October breaks my heart
Into a million pieces
Yet I'm always sad to see it go

Open the Heavens

Open the Heavens

In between stardust and moonbeams that shine
Leaving a trail on the sky
Open the heavens, this angel is mine
Wonderful dreams soar on high
~
Emptying sadness along with the pain
Yesterday’s sorrows to leave
Only a whisper shall come with the rain
Until the time we believe
~
Asking the questions that speak from my heart
Needing a place to begin
After the moments that kept us apart
Sending my love from within
~
Offering all that this man he can bring
Pleasures I hope you can feel
Happiness flows in the verses we sing
No longer love to conceal
