What Keeps People Honest

Never take anything that's not yours,
something that you haven't earned;
somebody worked hard to get that,
so put it down and think of a better way
to lift that weight off of your conscience!
If all followed your example,.
and in front of God they'd tremble,
we would have less crime today!.

What keeps people honest
is the fear of being caught
and dearly pay for doing wrong;
some laugh at your hesitation,
others foresee your frustration;
be stronger and wiser than them
by giving honesty another image:
truly genuine and truthful!

Would you like to imagine or really see
a world without danger or trouble?
Start cleaning up your act and be humble:
many will notice the sudden change
and begin their endless jeourney...
down a more righteous road full of wisdom;
what they'll learn from your new image,
can't be compared to what will come!

What keeps people honest
is the embarassment of being criticized,
or even worse of being alienated from society;.
and that fret state of mind
guards them against any attempt
to break the law as often as they could!
Then does the human spirit, indomitable and free,
have an imponderable conscience...
ready to violate all moral principles
that any law-abiding citizen never would?

Perfection is not found in humans,
unless they turn to spiritual guidance,
and they could have a soul
as dark as the Devil,
but with grace they are transformed
and made as obedient as angels;
you have a greater potential...
simply rise above them!

The Kiss

It has been with me my whole long life,
Wafted on the gentle breezes of the wind,
It's followed me;
Down the ragged pathways of my mind.

It was in the rain that washed the parched places in my heart,
And I found it yet again strewn all about;
In the forest of my dreams.
As I held a lonely vigil in the night.

It surrounds me and I reach to touch it;
But it flits away on vibrant, butterfly wings.
I cannot quite catch it, but it is there.
Circling always lightly round my head.

I see it looking back at me behind a smoky glass,
I press my hands hard against the pane.
But the shadow is all that I can see,
And the weakest flicker of a flame.

There is wisdom to be found among the stars.
Secrets hidden in the chambers of our minds.
We do not know, and yet we can't forget;
What we are we do not understand.

We are more than what we think or know.
And what we know our minds cannot express.
Yet through all our labor and our tears,
We hold the knowledge that we are more than this.

Poor human, tired, confused and weak.
Stumbling onward in a marathon of pain,
Cattle led to slaughter and alone,
Fodder for some Demon war machine.

What is it that we are?
What is this knowledge hidden in our hearts?
Whispered by the sirens in the storm,
Is it some charade or cruel Joke?

Yet somehow, we still believe,
For it is hidden deep within our souls,
We cannot know and yet we can't forget;
That we were made for so much more than this.

Earth Creatures, born from muck and mire.
Dare we lift our heads and view the stars?
For our hearts know it is our right to dream.
For once we were kissed by God.

Crushed beneath a heavy yoke
She passed out from the pain
A Gentle voice spoke, she awoke
                             Pure water washed blood stain

                               The burden had been lifted
                                   He'd hoisted it away
She blinked away her tears to see
A bright and hope filled day

Premium Member A New Reply to Hamlet

“To be, or not to be?” asks Hamlet's soul,
a mind transfixed between the depths below
and life's thin, airy hold: this desperate role,
I still play; although, from despair I know

that meaning consists neither in wealth, pleasure,
nor youth, might, thought: not even in great power!
But in the feet of this poem's solemn measure,
the answer is found: 'tis life, by whose Flower

the gift of meaning is through your love's labor,
the purpose for which you were made and reborn.
In this fact, take heart and faint not nor waver;
but seize at last your life's prize unforlorn!

Though Hamlet ponders still the sleep of death,
I breathe the Flower's scent with life's every breath.

Far and Away

Like love is the appreciation of another’s existence
Nature is a virtue of prospect
An adjective of outer limits limited
Space, the moon
Explorations of new frontiers
Nature is growth
The ability to process and approach
This well being is all around you
When there is sickness at sea
Shelter only flatters the cold
The chills only make your bladder seem old
If I was once told
That nature was us
A keep that we shelter in the category “Must”
Nature is trust
The trees, the honey, the bees
The harsh winters that evergreen sees
Nature is shorts, sandals, warm sleeves
Temperature, clouds, snow flakes
Murky to clear lakes
Climate
Nature is change that evolves into survival
Nature is life, death, the offspring, a revival
Hold on to yourselves, each other
And the elements that you have been given
Nature is you as long as the cycle is still living

Hope For Love

If I am with you in the day to come,
I will live and love the life that has become,
And sing and dance under the light of the sun,
When our souls come together in the marriage of one.

If I am not with you in the day to come,
To put a ring on the hand that will become,
And kiss and tell how I am blessed,
Then hum to the wind the song in my nest.

Cause, when alone our soul’s blazes like a star,
And to the night appear as the most outstanding wonder.
But when together we can make a star like the sun,
And walk in its light to see nature’s perfect plan.
So hope for that love that makes life so fine,
For to hope is human and to love is divine.

Yesterday’s Wishes

Yesterday’s wishes never grow stale,
Immortal dream walkers glint in platinum.

Fresh hope with wings, like moonbeams in a mason jar,
Nudges wrinkled wishing stars
To capture a prayer implored on the first star,
Slipping through starlight on a chivalrous quest
Determined to take destiny outside the ephemeral.

One fluttering penny never scarred by disbelief
Lives in moments of perpetual could.

A breath, ever new, kisses Heaven
On a still pond without wrinkles
With a heartbeat that shakes time and astronomy
By blasting beyond algorithms and black holes
Into the unexamined fantastical.

Ever youthful wishes charge past the iron will of probabilities
When heartbeats flutter outside of mortality.

Possible stomps on the impossible in resurrection
Grabbing Eden’s fragments, fancies of faith,
As yesterday’s wishes belong to eternity
And live in a forever dawn waiting to bloom.

Somewhere On the Road

He may not recall the faces,
or the names of all the places,
where he would play his songs until,
his fingers blistered and bled.

He still thinks about those long nights,
and the million miles he drove through,
where he never earned enough,
to pay for a bug-filled bed.

He remembers the cheap hotels,
and the even cheaper women,
the pills that took away his dreams,
and those that would not let him stop.

Between the tears that he’s crying,
and the loneliness of trying,
sometimes it makes him wonder if,
he’ll climb that ladder to the top.

He has left so many pieces,
of himself in empty bar rooms,
until it feels like his soul is,
being stretched out way too thin.

Tomorrow is another day,
of empty rooms and promises,
but he will still get up and try,
to do it all over again.

And as long as he is breathing,
he will never quit believing,
and if his heart is still beating,
he will keep on playing his songs.

If all the stars keep on shining,
and the words still keep on rhyming,
he knows that somewhere on the road,
he’ll find that place where he belongs.

Questions of Love Lost

Do you surrender?
Or will you be strong
Do you love him tender?
Or will you let him once again be gone
Do you feel with him is where you belong?
Or will you let your life forever be one sad song
Do you believe it was meant to be?
Or will you tell yourself the way you feel for him is wrong
Does your heart long to be free?
Or will you allow yourself to live in agony
Do you go after what you need?
Or will you finding yourself letting your heart bleed
Do you remember it’s his eyes you got lost in a gaze?
Or will you submit to the haze
Do you feel like you are going crazy?
Or will you let yourself think just maybe…it could be again
Do you long to be held in his arms?
Or will you be able to resist his charms
Do you want his lips to kiss?
Or will it be him you will forever miss
Do you when you close your eyes see his smile?
Or will you let the distance between you always be miles
So many questions you have in your mind building up by the piles
It’s up to you to find your answers and to survive
Hopefully again life and love with him can thrive
But you never know
What life’s gonna show
It’s him you can never let go
Do you admit to everyone how you feel?
Or will you let it be your sanity it steals

Premium Member Your Time Has Come (Prose Poetry)

Your time has come like the rising sun. Stand up for life created by God’s love as
the dove descends from above. He has a plan for you to be one with Him as He
is with you thus making you brand new. Your life should be more than just the
ordinary existence, let Him strengthen you as your soul runs the distance. Be
filled with His spirit and let your light shine. Manifest His joyful glory and
overcome obstacles in His name while unto Him you render an acclaim. Move
ahead and be the lighthouse of strength without relenting; thus ascending from
the bottomless pit into His eternal light of creation. Experience the fullness of
your destiny with God in the middle of your future. Build your foundation in His
word and spirit. Empower your soul with His tenacity; He will determine your
capacity. Be anointed by His grace and experience the reality of not just a
dream. A light lit for living liturgy. He has you covered with His Holy Spirit. Now
step out—your time has come!

Comments: A prose poem is written in prose form. It does not have line breaks
or varying topography as a regular poem. During the mid-nineteenth century,
Charles Baudelaire published Petis poemes en prose. Oscar Wilde, T.S Eliot
and others have written in this genre. The genre started in France and is now
worldwide. The use of concrete language and figurative speech such as
imagery, rhymes, personification, contrast, simile, metaphor, alliteration,
metonymy, synecdoche, abstraction and the like should be incorporated based
on the desire of the poet. The piece may focus on language, a story, or
something similar based on the choice of the poet.
