April 2 Walls
Trump wants a wall
Between America and Mexico
A wall against the southern hordes
A wall based on fear and hate
A wall to make America safe
A wall to make America great again
And yet I wonder
Will his wall fall
Like the Berlin wall
And the great wall
And all the other walls
They all failed
All of them
Walls divide us
Walls make us
Into different tribes
Between the pure
And the impure
St Reagan
Said Tear Down this Wall
Will future Presidents
Tear down this begotten wall
Or will it become a tourist attraction
Another great wall
Against barbarian hordes
April 2 Trump’s Wall Against Reason
The President wants to build a wall
Against the southern hordes
Another great wall
To keep the barbarians out
He wants to build a wall
Against reason
Against science
Against the modern world
Hiding behind the wall
On the southern border
Desperately trying to keep them out
The unwashed masses
The undocumented
The illegals
Streaming across the border
Seeking to wreck the pure land
Murderous hordes
Rapists, drug dealers
Coming to take our land over
As he stands on the border
Trying to stop the hordes himself
April 2 It Has Been Done Before
Before Trump’s Wall
There were many other walls
The Berlin Wall
The Great Wall
Hadrian’s Wall
All the walls of the ancient world
All failed
To keep the enemies out
The enemies of freedom
The enemies of the state
Still came across the border
To loot, steal, rape and plunder
And nothing could stop
The flood of history
April 2 Walls Divide Us
In Modern America
We all live in gated communities
Trying desperately to keep them out
Out of sight
Out of mind
And out of our lives
And yet we fail
Fail to accept the others
Are human beings
Are our fellow creatures
As we wall ourselves off
Into our separate communities
We loose our humanity
And we loose our selves
As we hide in our walls
Hide in our bubbles
April 2 Mr. Trump
Please tear down this wall
Please open up your heart
Please stop this madness
We are all Americans
We are all one people
And your wall
Will not stop us
From becoming one people
Please tear down this wall
Please build bridges to the future
Please open your heart
And let the love shine through
Clouded by doubt and pain,
Failure slithers in.
Cutting old thick skin,
Down on my knees again.
Just feel like quitting,
Admitting defeat.
Retreating,
Shedding my skin.
Brush away the tears,
You faced those fears,
Layered through the years.
Scraping by The obstacles,
Fed through the ears.
Limits to my existence,
Awaken the chance.
A vessel of resistance,
Keeping distance.
Patiently mending,
Becoming Complacent.
Sliding adjacent,
To the Way Things Are,
We don't slither far.
Hiding in the dark,
Afraid to Shed the skin,
Of who they think you are.
Fitting in,
And Failing,
Again and again.
Scraping and peeling,
Feeling Exhausted.
The old is falling,
The past is withering,
As you slither into your new skin.
He wore a hoodie, she had an attitude
He wore a hoodie
So you immediately assumed he had a weapon
He wore a hoodie
So you immediately assumed he was on the way to a drug deal
He wore a hoodie
So you thought he was hiding something
He wore a hoodie
So you thought he was a good for nothing criminal
He wore a hoodie
So of course your racist self would assume he was a thug
He wore a hoodie
So of course your racism is showing
She had an attitude
So you labelled her as rude
She had an attitude
So you saw her as aggressive
She had an attitude
So of course you called her ignorant
She had an attitude
So of course you called her uncivilised because she paid you no attention
She had an attitude
Because she didn't smile at you
She had an attitude
So of course your racism is showing
He wore a hoodie
Because he wanted to be invisible
He didn't want to be judged
He didn't want people to 'mistake' his facial expressions for an act of violence
He wore a hoodie
Because racists criminalised his skin colour
He thought he could hide
He thought this was the best way to survive
That was until they shot him and then he died
She had an attitude
Because she was instructed from when she was old enough
To not make eye contact
To be emotionless
So they wouldn't see her as a threat
Which could possibly end with her death
She was exhausted
She had an attitude
Because earlier that day on her social media
She received a comment
Calling her slurs
Using the hard 'er'
She had an attitude
Because it didn't matter if she was smiling or frowning
They would always label her a threat
She was tired
She knew no matter what she did
She would probably be followed and murdered
He wore a hoodie and she had an attitude
For protection against racism
But not matter how hard they tried to please the system
In the end they couldn't win
All because of the colour of their skin
On this desecrating Earth

Cassie was a daughter full of love;
But now she's resting far up above;
She was brutally murdered with a gun;
It seemed like the shooters were having fun;
She was killed in a horrific way;
She will never live to see another day;
I am her mother, I love her so dear;
That long day I felt such horrible fear;
I had to bury her body in the ground;
She will never make another sound;
I used to be troubled teenage girl;
Who gave weed and alcohol a whirl;
She hung out with the wrong set of peers;
She ignored me as if she couldn't hear;
She hated me - thought I didn't care;
I didn't care for the clothes she chose to wear;
Then one day, she met a new friend;
I truly hopes that my fear would end;
She taught her that she was loved;
By her savior and God above;
Cassie became a happy wonderful teen;
Like I had truly hoped I ever seen;
But then came the day of April 20th 1999;
When two teenage boys shot up Columbine High;
12 teens were killed and 24 more were injured;
Hearing the deafening shots that lingered;
In the library, hiding under a desk;
Which was now a total mess;
One shooter talked in with as gun;
He seemed to be having so much fun;
He threatened Cassie and her friend;
Cassie hoped this wasn't her end;
"Do you believe in God?" he said;
Putting the gun to her temple;
Her answer was quite simple;
"Yes" she says in her calm way;
He pulls the tigger - and she lived her final day
They move in secret, cautiously,
these people of only one way.
Trusting in the blinding dark suspiciously
defiling the hopes and dreams of yesterday.
Detours they avoid abruptly
retracing every step, too fearful of today.
People of darkness live secret and alone,
what are they afraid of?
Trembling at discovery and being found and known
they chose a path different than our own.
Whispering from displaced forgotten ghettos
hiding truth in an unrecognized libretto.
Their fears are all they have.
They breathe quietly, as lost and angry old and young,
devourers of life while on the run.
Speaking cryptic radical determined thoughts
as in their minds, the world's battles are fought.
Agony,distorted faith, they claimed they’ve turned it on
and when least expected, they are in hiding ,gone.
They are the lost and found in every town.
They plan and scheme in their restrictive silence
not saying aloud but veil what they really mean
Resting only of necessity to remain alone and hidden
as they cry and shout hypocrisy but spread inhumanity,
A condemnation for all eternity
drifting on the seas of ideological emptiness and deeper lies.
I hid in plain sight
Mocked the censors
Defied the preachers
Chuckled
At their ineptitude
Took refuge
In the blank page
Hiding myself
In swirling lines
Dancing
Along the borders
Of truth
Cursed them
In muted metaphor
Defied them
In metered verse
Challenged them
In rebellious rhyme
Laughed as they counted
Syllables and iambs
Punctuated
My verses freedom
For they were frozen
And I a seething cauldron
Of love and hate
Struggling youth
Battling
The lunacy of life’s
Illusions
Thus I wrote
And hid
In plain sight
On a blank page

As I gaze upward searching the amazing Universe in the darkness of the night.
I can feel the summer heat ascending, reaching the firmament and leaving an opaque covering over the phase of the full moon. Beams of soft lights reflect in my eyes as a delightful experience. And yet a gruesome finding hiding in the shadows. My eyes trace an outline of an oval monolith imagery standing as a pillar in a museum. Frightened yet annoying by awful vibrations traveling through the air towards me. I become shaken and a grim feeling overshadows me. I give a long, loud, piercing cry, as this vicious darkness will not withdraw from me. An unexpected prelude, a source of illumination stimulates my sight, making things visible. Dawn piercing through an opening of dimness and gloom reveals the fall of darkness demise. Vindictive fear of my own consciousness had been crushed by the light of day. As I patronize my aged notions I feel a deep sense of pride at the victorious achievement for overcoming the darkness. The mystery of the dark has exposed its secret counterfeit of shadows. Rays of light kiss my cheek with warmth. I now stand fortunate to have faced the darkness and live in the light.

My heart lay in a murky room
Unseen and unheeded
Motionless and bleeding
Yearning for when it shall meet
Its twin,
In the guise of a flame!
Then, while it slumbered
It was whispered of love
And it started beating ecstatically
Knowing that somehow
The curtains hiding it
Will get drawn,
And its windows will be opened
Allowing scattered dandelions
To fly in
And to surround it
While singing songs in ode
To the powerful angels
While it shall burn
In its own twin flame!
But it expected not to meet
With disgust and disdain
It expected not to be spat on
Or to thrown in thrash
It expected not
That love,
As it has dreamt of it,
Would hate it
As if it were an infectious disease!
Hurt,
It has now retreated back
To its own murky room,
With the lights switched off
And the curtains well drawn
As,
If love be repulsive
Then better it is
To avoid it!
It minds not its loneliness
As it knows
That it shall create memories
In the guise of dark and brooding
Poems that it shall leave here
Someday
When the skies shall deem it
That it be its time
To ascend towards them!

What am I doing wrong?
Everything is blowing up
Losing my mind over this
Can’t help but feel helpless
Hiding behind a facade
I’m scared to face my feelings
I don’t want to talk about this
Rather sink back and disappear
In the end it’s all my fault
Tried to lead and things failed
Always wanted to be a superhero
Instead I’m just acting cowardly
Didn’t expect any of this to happen
I knew my actions had consequences
But I didn’t expect things to hit hard
I should of just been more aware
I know the right answer but
I’m scared to answer the problem
I don’t want to hurt anyone
With my actions and words
I’ll do what I can for now
And take a step back from now on
