In the Grass
Lush green; thin leaves; tiny veins; almost stem-less; soft;
These concepts creep into when I think of grass, oft;
Seldom do I think of what's with or in the grass,
I sit, lay, sleep, walk over them, and gently pass...!
Have I ever reflected on the grass notion,
As a divinely given natural potion...?
Protein and carbohydrates full in the grass lead,
The animal kingdom, on them, to gladly feed;
Calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur,
Selenium, iodine, cobalt, and copper;
Treasures, as they lay within the womb of the earth,
Within and around the grass kingdom, have no dearth…!
Storing water, air; cleansing mise-en-scène;
Breeze, within and around the grass kingdom, flows free;
Entwined with lace-like monocots and fibrous roots,
Spike, panicle, thus goes floral rhythm in all shoots;
The grass fruits nourish the taste buds of animals,
Isn't this why, betwixt them, there's a tittle-tattle...?
Armyworms and fiery skipper butterflies hide,
Ants, mosquitoes, fleas, and snails abide side by side;
Even human beings gain power and vigor,
As cooking herbs or medicine, strength does trigger;
What creature hiding within it for its solace,
Is denied of its shade and sustenance flawless…???
