neurosis
?nj??'r??s?s/
noun
MEDICINE
  1. a relatively mild mental illness that is not caused by organic disease, involving symptoms of stress (depression, anxiety, obsessive behaviour, hypochondria) but not a radical loss of touch with reality.

She has a neurosis, a mental disturbance, Whenever things aren’t as they seem, Whenever she’s caught in a tight little spot, When her mind wants to let out a scream, And she dissolves in her mind, alone out of sight, Curling up in a ball in her head, Where she rocks back and forth, with her knees to her chin, Where her rational had got up and fled. Her neurosis arranges in alphabet order, It’s a shape where that shape shouldn’t be, Her neurosis is ordering all of her life, It owns her impulses, her wild and her free. But on the outside her body says calm and collected, Her eyes say “Total Control”, Because her brain put a barrier up to the world, Hiding the world away from her soul.
