A Waiting Shadow

In ravaged lands, where war's dark wings do spread
A child lies weak, with hunger's heavy dread
Kwashiorkor's grasp, a slow and painful fate
A tiny body, worn by conflict's cruel weight

A vulture watches, with calculating gaze
Awaiting death's dark whisper, in life's fading haze
A shadow cast, upon the parched earth below
A grim reminder, of life's fleeting, fragile glow

Oh, heartbreak's heavy toll, in this desolate land
Where innocence is lost, and hope's last ember's stand
A child's bright smile, now faded, lost to pain
A future's promise, shattered, like the shards of broken grain

The vulture's patience, a cruel, heartless thing
A symbol of the darkness, that war's destructive wing
Brings forth the worst, in humanity's dark design
Leaving behind, a trail of sorrow, heartbreak's heavy shrine

In this bleak scene, we find a heartbreak so profound
A sorrow that echoes, across the desolate ground
For in the end, it's not the vulture's waiting gaze
But humanity's failure, that brings us to our knees in heartbreak's daze.

Midnight Pearl

Floating, dreaming, waves lapping, slapping playfully on the rocks
Turning over swimming gently, diving under water, sighting a delicate box
Holding breath, diving deep, pushing with all my might
desperate to reach the box, not could not reach it, chest too tight

The sea is tidal; I work it out, that when the tide is low
I’ll swim back out at lowest tide and give it another go.
It’s late, the moon is shining, just enough to see
I take the plunge holding my breath, and dive into the dark cool sea.

I reach the box my chest is tight, I grasp and kick with all my might
I reach the surface gasping; the moon now smiling down its silvery light
To reach shore, shivering slightly, with apprehension and the chill
To open this box so delicate, the thought gives me such a thrill.

It opens so easily, I am surprised, now my thoughts are in a whirl
I lift the lid, it reveals to the me what I now call the 'Midnight Pearl'.
The moon glances off its pearly skin too beautiful too behold
As the hand come through the water it grasps the pearl so bold.

A voice whispers eerily into the night time air
'Leave the pearl now go - don’t come back you will not dare.'
The moon is now mocking, the pearl gone from my grasp
I see it back in its box as the hand closes down the clasp.

'You are very lucky a life is normally required to see the pearl.'
Fear then engulfed me as the short story did unfurl
'The only exception to the rule is a glance under the midnight moon'
On the night of the lowest tide, so I grant your life - as a boon.

Premium Member You Turn My Lows To Highs

Don't know what this guy would do
Without you peeps to brighten my day
You're worth more than all the gold in the world
Just to hear what you all have to say

The difference between a happy and sad day
Between sunshine and cloudy skies
With each of the loving words you send me
You turn my lows to highs

Happiness is free, it's there for the taking
Reach out and grasp the brass ring
Though some days we lose sight of this fact
And we lose our desire to sing

It doesn't take special talent or knowhow
We all have the ability to laugh
But sometimes though, life has a nasty habit
Sending negatives right off the graph

So when this happens, grab hold of the ring
Hang on for dear life, I implore
Till whatever's causing you grief and despair
Disappears and your faith is restored

Premium Member A Slate State of Mind

Cobalt stained whispers
dye darkly indigo the iris of my mind
as my dulled lapis essence
drowns in deeper depths of navy -
dragged down by steely emotions

Beyond my grasp
is the ultramarine humility of the Virgin Mary’s robes -
I am lost
to the impure algae of this midnight abyss

Gone is the denim scab that patched my soul -
cast with the spindrift of tiffany dreams --
jaded,
I sink into afterlife
protected by my Egyptian prayers

Premium Member Strong Winds In This Faraway Land

The ooze ought to bestow fear on its forms.
The torrid heat of July gags your sacred calling.
It holds inside you, humbly inviting storms.
Singing in the gentle light of root caregiving.

Their activity heedfulness is vanishing.
Hanging pixie wings are sharp, yet blurring.
Daffodils, once joyful, are now luckless.
This late gap is bred by the deity endless.

Each one should heed this hidden tone of truth.
Earthly grief openly evokes settled insight.
Eschew sinking sand in blurring tracts, youth.
This area's lands grasp a waning and fading sight.

When we omit our inner tone, we get a breeze.
We've joined a so barren and chaotic apostasy.
Deep murk, sluggish heart, stifled worries ease.
A moving, rolling wind minds us on our life story.

Bear not the soul to untie ruin across each plain.
As the world deems you, you expect likely to rain.
The culminating bashes are quick and hastily thrown.
Each day gains betterment and outgrown.

That Lonely Ache

Every time I think of you, a smile runs across my face
The moments that we shared in part, can never be erased.
It may have been at a haggard pace and now there's just an empty space,
my world has shifted out of place, as I long for your embrace,
to grasp your waist
your lips to taste

I opened up, i was vulnerable, you seemed to be amenable,
and now I feel incapable of moving on irrecoverable,
my sadness is insufferable this feeling is uncomfortable,
my intentions only honorable, my love for you unalterable.

I hope im not making mistakes, by holding on, lying in wait,
this love I have... I cannot shake
she made me feel so awake,
alive inside a creative take

it’s her love I cant forsake,
its why I feel this lonely ache.

I’ll persevere, I'll move along
but deep down... I’m holding on,
even as I write this song,
hoping our hearts truly belong,

I know my love cannot be wrong
its hard as hell to stay so strong,
the suffering may be prolonged,
I wont deny my love lives on.

I wont give in, I wont give up,
Im realistic in my thought.
I've learned the lessons I've been taught,

I know a love can be caught
and just as fast, rendered-naught.

Its just my soul, it’s tied in knots,
It’s tough to prevent a hardening heart
But a love like this, a fight be fought.
Just to be sure... just for the aught.
A love so special should be sought.
to its end... it’s natural force,
remaining friends, no remorse
for letting that love run its course

Let love stand tall! Let the chips fall!
‘Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never have loved at all.

Let love stand tall! Let the chips fall!
‘Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never have loved at all.

Premium Member To Die For

You don't really know the pain
You never hear the hurt, grasp for breath
See the torture through the eyes depth
Their face you tell beneath their silence
Ready to go, acceptance to death is easier
Than the pain of the world we leave
Through love we share times passing
We grow, drift away life of our own
Sickness all around, danger just partake
We die each day killing ourselves

Our souls, what hurt that it still cares
The evil from within darkness depths
Like woman scorned, revenge is seek
No responsibility, looking point blame
Everything we touch has word kill
Heart of one wicked as the next
We die, just to live or purpose walk

It comes quickly, comes lingering like a fog
Devouring flesh, eating from inside
Reaper, few steps beyond journey path
Its breath, breathing like constant wind
We know no day, death be certain
Our dying days, we live without thought withering away
To die for, to be or not to be
Or unto death our last breath to the grave

Premium Member How Quickly It All Passes

To know dark and deep eyes of them I dream
Of rendered days and nights where love won't mourn
Where honesty blossoms complete the theme
And its fragrance is a scent to be worn
In silent tender pause, I'll grasp your hand
And find a warmth and comfort lovers seek
With a gracious smile, we both understand
It becomes a habit that's not unique
We'll count days and years when we stop to think
And wonder how quickly it all passed
To notice evenings turn a softer ink
Before the years turn gray and overcast

I shall claim nothing more than to love you
With a desire filled life until it's through

Premium Member Father's Day

He taught us to work hard and be counted
We may have been delinquent yet patience he mounted

He was strict with us and with himself as well
We were bit scared but it made discipline in us dwell

As we grew up, he chiseled our rough angles
And always warned us of impending tangles

He himself was not fortunate to have gone to college
But was wise to grasp progress went with knowledge

Dislocated from native land, he had to struggle to raise family
Fate was also unkind as he lost his life partner fairly early

Not a loser, lone he waged his battles hard
Protected us children like a rock boulevard

One by one we all settled well and wanted to take our turn
Alas, it was not to be, as he did not accept the favor return

Old, he still works hard and goes about his daily chores
Wishes to be independent, our request to help he ignores

Hard times have perhaps taken a toll on his softer self
Pray to lord he finds peace and happiness in his shelf

We respect him from our hearts for all his cares for us
Why he does not take our help is still a mystery for us

I have learnt, dear father, now that I am myself a father of two
Lots of patience is essential to raise a family without much ado

Your virtues of industry and self-respect I try to pass down
Complementing firmness with touch of love that we all yearn

We do not underestimate the values of the times you had faced
Between father and his progeny, paternal love remains glazed.

We respect your solitude and your intent to do it your own way
I want to say you are in our hearts and shall always hold sway

WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN

At first, he, smells her sweet perfume, eyes curves,
long bashful lashes, smiling eyes, red lips.
He, falls so hard for her – unsteady nerves,
and moves to grasp the sun, the moon – he flips!

On knee - he bows, proposes on a whim.
He will find, life is hard – he screams, they clash.
Each storm, he tethers faults – the light grows dim,
but then he questions mind - has he been rash?

She’s so fun and he laughs at her smart joke,
adores the wrinkles on her face – they smile.
His heart beats strong, beneath his shattered cloak.
old man’d do all for her - his domicile.

He was drawn, at youth, to her beauty fair.
Autumn’s aged wisdom, breathes, of love’s affair.

WHEN A WOMAN LOVES A MAN

Her muscled hero, working strong, and cute.
He lifts her high, with just one hand, in use.
With windswept hair, a toothy smile – to boot,
he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

A ring of solid gold, at first they thrive.
Invasion of stiff habits - trying, rude!
Aglow his balding head, his hair deprive!
She opens eyes, asks self - why dost thou brood?

After all he is human, she proclaims.
He takes out trash, mows lawn, provides, is kind.
He’s always by my side, thus she reclaims.
He is the best! None better she will find.

And strength is found, in given years of life.
Blind eyes, love opens wide. She, smiles – his wife!
