How Quickly It All Passes

To know dark and deep eyes of them I dream
Of rendered days and nights where love won't mourn
Where honesty blossoms complete the theme
And its fragrance is a scent to be worn
In silent tender pause, I'll grasp your hand
And find a warmth and comfort lovers seek
With a gracious smile, we both understand
It becomes a habit that's not unique
We'll count days and years when we stop to think
And wonder how quickly it all passed
To notice evenings turn a softer ink
Before the years turn gray and overcast
I shall claim nothing more than to love you
With a desire filled life until it's through
