Covid-19

The World was in a turmoil,
the situation dire.
Corona Virus broke out in China
and spread the World like wildfire!

Covid-19, as it was called,
had the upper hand for sure!
Our country was faced with a virus
for which there was no cure!

Medical experts around the World
were working twenty-four hours a day
to come up with a medication
that would put this virus away!

We were at a virtual standstill
as we tried to get ahead
exercising self restraints
to slow down the covid-19 spread!

The president took forceful action
to try and turn the tide.
The pressure he was under
was tearing him up inside!

There’s never been a global crisis
with this kind of chaos before!
The number of countries affected
was approximately one-hundred-eighty-four!

It soon became a pandemic!
So reaction had to be quick!
Thousands of people were dying,
thousands more were getting sick!

Social distancing became essential
as well as washing hands and wearing masks!
Many courageous people risked their health
performing dangerous medical tasks!

Quarantine and lockdowns
became the order of the day!
However, for those that must go out,
stay at least six feet away!

The economy was at a standstill!
Socialization, a thing of the past.
Most businesses have closed their doors!
How long will this all last?

The situation is really dire
the likes of which, we’ve never seen!
Everyone is wondering,
what does all this mean?

To get our country back to normal,
politicians must unite
and with commitment and dedication
agree to do what’s right!

They all need to face the fact
politics is not the cure!
Name calling, hating, and blaming don’t help,
which goes without saying for sure!

It’s gonna take a concentrated effort
by each and every one.
Using common sense and logic
they need to do what must be done!

So let’s all hope and pray,
that they can get right to it.
Decide what action must be done
and then agree to do it!

That’s what it’s gonna take
which may be quite a chore!
Getting them all to cooperate
will be next to impossible for sure!

We’re hoping for a miracle
to get this all undone!
The country’s in such turmoil
back to normal, is priority number one!

So let’s all cross our fingers
and say a prayer and see
if we can get our country back
to the way it used to be!

Treasures of Your Soul

TREASURES OF YOUR SOUL

Just a reminder before I start…
This comes with Love from your Mother’s heart

It was Saturday September 1987
When my prayer specifications arrived from Heaven-
You see, long before I was your age I asked God to Bless me one day with a son
And that was how the thought of you had first begun
So, Twenty -one years ago to this day
You arrived…perfect and handsome in every way-

As baby and toddler you were way ahead of your peers
Showing wisdom and intellect beyond your years
Added to that a head of hair to astound
Made you without doubt, the best looking kid around
At 6 months old you said your first word-
Wait for it…”Ninja Turtle” is what we all heard-
This was hardly surprising in retrospect though
As your love of sword’s and sword -fighting started to show
You started to question us on everything in sight
No doubt in our minds, you were exceptionally bright

When your sister arrived you were almost three
Chat to Keelyn, and you will find she’ll agree…
That having a sister was no issue at all-
In fact you were her protector and mentor from the day she was born-
The love that the two of you share,
Is unique, very special, and extremely rare
As young adults you still nurture this bond with each other-
You make great siblings as sister and brother

I could write pages, so many things to relay
But here is the important stuff I need to say…
You care about your Faith, Family and Friends...
And still-- the heights of your Academic achievements know no end
From the day you could speak the sentence we heard most of all-
“When I grow up a Dr. will be my vocation and call”

Four years into your Medical degree
We realize how seriously you took that first plea
You learnt to discern from an early age between right and wrong
I am pleased to acknowledge in God’s Kingdom you firmly belong

I love you so much…a love that has no measure
To have you as a son - a gift from God I will always Treasure-
So as you celebrate this milestone age of Twenty-one
It goes without saying- you make us so proud to have you as a son

(Footnote: My son is now 25—a qualified Doctor, and firm in His Faith)

I Have a Blue Badge

>This must be my last poem today, as I must away. Plus I might get told off for posting too many. I have a Blue Badge, because I have difficulty walking distances, even short ones, sometimes. The novelty if that’s the correct word in having a Blue Badge, is you are allowed to park in special disabled bays, provided you are there at the right time, of course. These times can be found on notices, if you look hard enough, sometimes they are quite high on a pole sometimes on a brick wall. Others low down , but there’s always one around somewhere.

This happened on the 7th July 2016 to me

I have a Blue Badge

It is dull and damp outside.
Summer at last is here.
Kids had their school sport's day yesterday.
I know some were near.
Could I park anywhere,
by my local shops, want to know?
There is a brief answer,
and that is no.
I thought, well that is okay.
As I have Blue Badge, you see.
First there was a white van parked.
The wrong way, crossing two parking lanes,
right where I could be.
I did return later to see a black car parking there.
But of a Blue Badge, I saw nought.
And then I began to despair.
Just as well my hair was short.
Or I would have pulled it out just there.
I did find it empty space.
Not too far away.
Saw the owner of that black car in that disabled bay.
Fly along the path, I say.
I did not approach that high flyer.
I mean, why should I?
She was moving so quickly.
Might have been an angel spy.
You see I have some angel friends.
Who keep watch over me.
Sent two recently to a relation.
As she needed them you see.
So, just in case that fast woman.
In that black car yesterday.
Was an angel spy, or someone else’s angel,
I kept quiet the other day.
And that ladies and gentlemen.
Is all I’ve got to say.

It goes without saying if someone can float along the pavement as fast as that lady did. She must have been an angel. And with mine you must not kid. As they fly above me. And like them birds you see. High up in the sky, you never know what they might drop, on me. Best be safe than sorry. Now, where has that sun gone? (the mad Author.)<

Don'T Forget To Press Record

Press record and create a scene
No second take, she just looks mean
Confront her, she will cause a scene
She's not the one for clothes, know what I mean

I mean just press record and create a scene
She's in love with the lens, replay that scene
No lunch on that set if you know what I mean
The relationship she has with that camera is just mean

I mean just press record and create multiple masterpieces
I love February.........on that calendar shoot that's what I mean
She teases the age restriction into ten pieces
Police holding off parents as they make a scene

I mean press record, no clothes is the point of this scene
Beliefs and morals are nowhere to intervene
The sight of a bible can cause a scene
Each cut is like a pause after a verse causing them to convene

I mean press record and you'll see what I mean
Her body is a regular show.........not the cartoon I mean
That has to be the emptiest wardrobe I have ever seen
Please don't provoke further, she's absolutely keen

I mean press record she has the attention it seems
Someone call the press this just in
Her age just revealed, she's young it seems
Called her mom at work they said she's not in

Press record leave a message her daughter is making a scene
She's on her way to the scene it seems
I mean this girl is acting out her dream on this scene
While malicious names are shot from the crowd bouncing off her shield it seems

Press record this will make the evening news it seems
Journalists happy to get the story never mind the kid if you know what I mean
Her mother does not get the warm reception as it seems
Her disappointment goes without saying if you know what I mean

I mean press record just to record over this particular scene
This generation has much more to offer than this it seems
You mean to say the past leaders led movements for this? That's just mean
Request them to clean up their act and create a new scene

Don't forget to press record.

The Road Less Traveled

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took *
The one I wanted, because, I’m a strong person
Of course it goes without saying that my strength
Lies in the grace of God, and that is all well and fine,
But each has his individual path, because each
Is a unique person, a unique spirit following a unique
Spiritual journey, which starts with spirit,
And I was given loads of it by my mother.
It was all she could give me.
We were the poorest of the poor
In England in the days after World War Two
She was unwilling to see me pushed down
As she had been by circumstances.
She showed me how to overcome circumstances.
How to find a positive way of looking at each event
How to use events to the best advantage
She always told me I could do anything at all
If I only put my mind to the task
And she was right, and most of the stuff
I have put my mind to has been very successful
People will say well if you’re so able
Why has your path not made you rich
The question is as silly as the questioner
For not everyone is in search of riches
I have turned down high-paid jobs and
Contracts because they were
Not what I found interesting.
I have moved to several
Different countries to live and work,
Because I wanted a variety of stimulus
For my spiritual growth and strength.
And I am certain that spiritual life
Does not exist exclusively in churches,
But largely in doing the best you can for people,
And placing yourself second.
I have no idea if heaven exists
But if it is filled with the people who ask
Why are you not rich
I’m afraid it would not be the sort
Of stimulating place my spirit is seeking.
God keep me on the path which avoids
The people who ask such questions.
God keep me strong. He always has,
And that has made all the difference*

Flower Plateau

It's pretty late, isn't it?
The day's done, Midnight draws near
You mischievously glance at me
I carry you away to our room

Along the way, I think
Of all the last four years have given me
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Warheads all rusting in peace

Four years ago, I was still so innocent
Fresh eyes, clear mind
Chasing some distant dream
Through a lush, lovely forest

And in a massive clearing, I found the dream
And took her in my arms
She ripped herself away before I could blink
And dragged me down into her suicidal spiral

It took months to escape
To pull us both out
My eyes became jaded
And her innocence was given to another

Latching onto a beam of light
I clung to another
Treating her emotions like a toy
And feeling that I was making her stronger

I became addicted to her quickly
I lived to repent my sins
And repent I did
As I became the toy to her

And in that time, I headed west
Trying to ease the pain of loss
Dragging yet another soul down
And running when it became too much

I've yet to apologize for that
Maybe it goes without saying
But if it doesn't
I send my prayers and sorrow to her skies

And as I walked upon the plateau
Where nothing but weeds grew
I found a single flower
Weakly blooming under the dust

That flower would change my life
And alone I sat on that plateau
Blooming alongside it
Blooming alongside you

And as time passed
The plateau began teeming with flowers
As my life and yours
Became increasingly intertwined

My sorrows melted away
Every loose end that caused me strife
I went back to tie up
And close another chapter of my life

My thoughts come to a halt as I look upon you
Your body under mine, our heartbeats in sync
I take you in my arms and press my lips to yours
Here atop this flower plateau

Take a Moment For God

Time can be your enemy, that goes without saying
To make the most of your time, hit your knees and start praying
God made no mistakes in this world he created
You can be “juice” to get others hydrated
He died for our sins, he’d want you to live
Read the word and believe and learn to forgive
Start your future now, come on have no fear
Take some time to be positive and have a good year
To have a good year, you can start with a quarter
Grab the hand of your spouse, bring your son and daughter
Find a house of worship it goes without saying
To improve your life get on your knees and start praying
To have a good quarter it’s easy to see
You must begin with a month, two, and then three
To have a good month you must start with a week
A good start is to watch the words that you speak
Take note of the way you get out of bed
Do you hit the floor running or wake up with dread
Start the day with a smile and not a blank stare
Read from the bible or say your own prayer
Everyone has a place let’s start from this minute
We all can make a change if our faith is in it
Be sure to live by the values you preach
Don’t say you’re a giver then act like a leach
Set an example, be strong, and take the lead
Need instructions? They're here in the bible..just read
Time can be your enemy instead make it a friend
Be the person on whom others depend
Offer words of encouragement don’t be quick to condemn
You’d be surprised at how you make a difference to them
God’s omnipresent, his love is divine
Get to know Him today there’s no better time

Apple Pie Lord

This apple pie is delicious! What a nice treat. What a simple pleasure. Lord, I wish you were sitting here and having a piece with me. I mean no disrespect Lord but I must ask you, have you ever eaten a pie of apple pie? Maybe a slice with some ice cream on top?

I wonder Lord, where do you find pleasure in your existence? It goes without saying you can do all and everything. There is no scenario that is impossible for you. But I wonder, can you enjoy a piece of pie while over seeing the rest of the universe? While considering all of the prayers that come to you constantly, while setting up everyone’s opportunities, while feeding the smallest bird and the biggest whale, while doing the multitude upon multitudes of things you do. Can you enjoy anything while worrying about the lost souls of this world?

The Bible says that we are made in your image God. So God you must love a beautiful sunset, a cool breeze in your face, or a child telling you that they love you. God, we must, like you, have the capacity to enjoy the good things in life while still worrying about and taking care of our children.

God, you feed baby birds while smiting an advancing army. God you showed us how to live and set priorities. You show us how to take care of the small things and stand up for the just things. You showed us how to love and forgive while hating evil and its works. You have showed us that while you are running the universe you can still be with us when we need you.

So I am thinking Lord that while I am enjoying this apple pie that you are enjoying it with me. Just as I enjoy watching my child eating ice cream. Thanks for the pie Lord.

The Political Party Not In Power

>It is very late at night, or very early in the morning. Whichever way you look at it. The date is 13/07/2016 and a time 01:34 AM. I cannot sleep and was listening and still am to hospital radio Ipswich. When a certain item of news caught my attention and the following I had to write, and post on BBC news Facebook page.

Stanley Harris Tut tut I hear the voting rules have been changed.. The goalposts have been moved. Just heard it on the Hospital radio Ipswich. Don't fret fans I am at home. However I tune into them for the soothing night time music. want to know in a poetic way what I heard? No! Well tough, read no further lol. As I cannot sleep and am in poetic flow. And yes have taken me meds before you ask lol

The political party not in power

The political party not in power.
Has moved the goalposts, you know.
You cannot join the club and vote straight away you know.

But bless, they take your money.
You donate straight away.
But of a leader's vote, there is now no sight.

They altered the rule book for six months from today.
So you don't vote for Jeremy.
And that's not right, I say.

MPs can do almost anything.
That we MPs, (Members of the Public,) cannot do.
But just remember they are like us.

All have to use a loo.
And that fact is, the blinking truth.
I am telling you.

(The mad author)

ooo0ooo

Of course, it goes without saying it will be in my poems book 10. And I have just heard Elvis singing, 'are you lonesome tonight,' which took me straight back to my military days in Germany, where we listened to it repeatedly every night on a jukebox in the NAAFI mess.<

time in between

27-12 was a long day

The Christmas began with a labor dispute at the cafe in
our building the chef didn't want to come in and cook on a Saturday unless she received extra pay.
The cafe owner thought the cook was asking too much money and refused to pay, but his wife donned a white hat, and we were all served a good meal.
The chef's hours are from ten to three, I think to prepare
she dislikes if she has to work half an hour more and is
quite vociferous about that.
I think it has an unspoken racial thing because another
server from Luanda refuses to work after 3 o'clock
the other server, a white woman, gladly stays to four if needed latecomers tend to be forthcoming.
There is a holler from the kitchen where the TV is on
the pope is talking I hope when he mentions the slaughter in Gaza he will condemn the Jews, but he is too bland to tell us how he really feels like the rest of us
The Swiss guards are there in splendid uniforms, I'm told they have to be Swiss and of the same height, which rules out a black Swiss guard unless Hollywood is making a movie about them and Denzel Washington as a heroic
sergeant, saving the pope from bearded, burnous-wearing villains.
It goes without saying the producer is Jews
Fish lunch today, homemade bacalao, that is OK by me, I eat any fish as long as it is not sardines
As children, we had sardines every day, boiled fried, and made into sardine cakes pretending to be hamburgers
