Not so long ago your heart was irreparably broken
You didn’t want to hear his name spoken
Your misery was so all-consuming -
And you were full of dooming and glooming -
That the threat of self-harm was bandied about
Just for attention, of that I have no doubt.
Yet here we are just a few weeks down the line
It seems to me that you’re doing perfectly fine
Professing yet more undying adoration
To the object of your latest infatuation.
I’ll give it a couple of months at best
Until he works out that you’re an unbearable pest
And like those before him (me included)
He’ll realise that you are emotionally deluded
He won’t want you clinging on like a limpet
He’ll be wanting, quickly as possible, to forget
That had the misfortune to learn your name
And became embroiled in your sick game
Because a stupid game is all it is to you
It’s the way you work; it’s what you do.
You create drama in your sad and empty life
And engineer all the stress and strife
To garner all the sympathy you can get
Whilst painting him as the worst one yet
Oh, the pain, the hurt the misery!
It wasn't how it was supposed to be...
Until the next unsuspecting guy comes into view
To be zeroed-in on by predatory you.
Then the whole charade will start again once more
But your game is tiresome and you’re a bore.
There’s a chance that one day the tide will turn
And that you will finally come to learn
That love and relationships are a two-way street
And that you will somehow, someday meet
Someone who will refuse to play by your twisted rules
Just to end up on your List of Fools.
To see beyond your artifice and manipulations
And develop for you true and strong emotions
It may come to pass, who can tell
Meanwhile you’ll put through hell.
Your latest beau has yet to experience
The depth and extent of your malevolence
When you take umbrage at an imagined slight
And manufacture yet another fight.
It’s not down to me to save him from his fate
Besides it’s probably already too late
But, what the heck, he’s made his bed
He’s believed everything you said.
You’ve dug your claws in, good and fast
Which guarantees that this relationship will not last!
I must now learn how to laugh!
Does it start with a smile?
Maybe not even,
A tilting of the head
Or a gentle sighing nod
How does it feel to know happiness?
Only misery lives here
My address is well known
at DEATH's Valleys Inn...
Check in for the night
and depression is guaranteed
While I cannot teach you the ways of joy
Would I need to though?
I have experience in the many
and ever so varying
arts of sadness.
Come learn from me,
Feed me your grief!
A stir and a bow,
A framing of a frown.
Glooming in despair
ghostly nightmares
The dread and despair
that filters the air
is the feeling I'll
impart to you,
My desperate
and very
lonely
friend.
The breeze you know
and have come
to cherish is the
stillness of disgust.
The peace you have had
to deny, to disguise your
Demons
There is much joy in my
shared misery and so I hoard
it for myself.
this whineful disposition
in my soul;
brewing
bitterness
to
its
maturation.

Sizwe Hlabisa
Lurking, reaching, twirling your calling.
Shaking, waving saw you smiling.
Look so happy, you look so strong.
Stand up tall, then sang a beautiful song.
The wind was blowing north to south.
Staring at you as i sat on a couch.
Gentle and grace you danced like swan.
Like ballet dancer, what a man!
Felt so envy I closed my eyes.
Dreaming of something, can't think twice.
Flew in the air up above the sky.
Like nobody can, i felt so high.
Swinging and swirling up and down.
Aren't you get tired? I really frown.
Can't you stop? I'm resting here!
Open your eyes, do you care?
One evening, you said to me.
The Lord has spoken he whispered gently.
The time has come, it's time to go.
Are you coming with me? But i said, no!
That day you said, i went away.
Your tears were fallen, looked so astray.
Did not look back, as i left.
I am nothing... but like a wanted theft.
Days had passed, all were empty.
All were sadness and loneliness in me.
Can't forget a friend who gave me home.
I have to go back, i'll never be alone.
Excited and overjoyed, i rushed.
Far from a distance, i crashed.
Can't see you clearly, you were not there.
Oh my dear friend, have you flown in the air?
Your leaves withered and dried.
Can't forgive myself... i really cried.
I lost my dearest friend,
I had no one to lend.
I flew and flew up to heaven.
I beg you my lord, don't let it end.
Down on my knees, i prayed and bend.
'I'm so alone, please bring back my friend'.
The clouds went dark and there was lightning!
The rain was chasing while i was flying.
The place so dim, saw it's glooming.
Can't figure it out, where i'm heading.
At the end of the sky i saw the light.
So bright, so clear didn't knew what it might.
Flowers and trees looked so lovely.
I reached the heaven... i flew slowly.
From the distance, i saw a single tree.
So sad and still he didn't see me.
My friend forgive me, please don't be lonely
I will never leave you. I'm here to stay.
The glass temple stands at a frightening height
Beautiful crystal panes there was a breathtaking sight
Across the sacred meadows and through the glooming trees
There purched the Temple, above any of what a single eye sees
Crowned on the hill, guarding the dusk sky
We journey through the meadows filled with Ergot Rye
The light is slowly setting
Obscured by great clouds, as if it were shy
The forest travels fast as the dark creeps slow
The shadows of trees were no longer cast
While the fractal beauty lights of the temple were the way to show
As we climbed the seven hundred stairs
And travered the fiercely humble bears
We stand facing a herculean yellow door
A deep bellow voice shocks us to the core
"Who stands upon this golden door?
Scared, trembling at the sound of my roar!
Who dares to enter my holy temple?
Cast upon the, to the hellish shore!"
"It is but us, seeking the refuge of your alluring glass Temple
We do not wish harm upon the rugged truss
Or to argue with the voices
Enough to drive thy mental"
"I laugh at your self pity
Your incompetent scores
For you come from the city
And the city does not belong through these doors!"
"But you see Mr.Man, we are the Village folk
Capable of handeling many, even of what the Temple spoke
Now allow us entry to the sacred Temple
We have powerful minds and surely we aren't broke"
"This is not a matter of coin
Nor the strengthiest brain
I see you are no leader of a shroin
Rather of the sugar cane!
You have lied to me peasent
And for that I grant you a present
The gift of common sense
To tell if the moon is a crescent
Now rid yourself off thy land
I banish thy band
There is no room for liars
So go forth as you may ran!"
Die Rose,
die im Stillen mir schon blühte,
vertrocknet war sie schnell im Morgenlicht.
Und auch ihr Duft,
verging zu schnell,
Wie kurz geträumter Traum,
der leicht zerbricht.
Wo dürre Zweige
sich verworren zeigen,
im Dickicht,
hinter frischem Grün,
zeigen sich Blüten bunt
im Farbenreigen,
bevor sie schnell
im Sommerlicht verblühn.
Die Rose,
die ich meine,
sie blühte nur für mich alleine,
im warmen Sommerwind.
Doch blühte sie vielleicht auch nur
zum Scheine,
um mir zu zeigen
wie die Zeit verrinnt.

The rose,
which flowered sectetly for me,
had dried up fast in early morning light.
And hence its scent,
which did not last
had passed too fast,
Like dreams too briefly dreamed
and easy break at last
Dry branches twisted
in the thicket tight,
behind fresh green,
and brightly painted blossoms show
a coloured round dance,
yet be seen
before they quickly wilter
in summer's glooming light
The rose,
I mean,
blossomed only for me,
in this warm summer wind.
But also might have bloomed pretenced.
And nothing more for me to say,
how quickly time trickles away.

aparecen flores colorados
en colorido baile de la ilusión
antes que marchitan
en la veraniego luz
La rosa,
de que hablo,
floreció sólo para mí,
en el viento caliente del verano.
Pero floreció tal vez de farsa,
para mostrarme sólo así,
cómo tan rápido el tiempo pasa
Some way to be
When the next thing comes along
To find some way
To explain what we think we need
Is it an excuse to blame the world
For what we refuse to see
Unhappy
Unhappy
All the erksome things which count so much
All those things which then cost so much
Come to lay out your heart
In thier ditch of troubled speach
Unhappy the lie which hides behind
The smile in every greeting
And there's the blame
It keeps on accusing
The sorry selfs
hypocrisy
And no-one else can see
A buried bone
Is one to exhume
When we feel the need
A bitter seed
Of judgements reprehensible
Impropriety
Do we feel its greed
Consuming all the moments
When from its glooming addiction
We are freed
Be
Unhappy
Unhappy
It kick starts all those reasons not to smile
Etching your days with its denial
Never been
Not ever when
Can't remember if you can
Happy
Unhappy
Swirls around the reasoned why
Taints the edge of tears we cry
Infiltrates and burdens now
Changes every cause to be.........
Having to believe in its reality
So involved in what you think and feel
Unhappy
Not the compass of any other persons
Point of view
Not of something
Which has anything at all
To do with you
Unhappy
Is written in our face
And it writes itself into our eyes
A slow motion response
Wanting to define our lives
No moderation of its sadness
As it alters the breathing heaviness
Curling up its tightness
Within your chest
Unhappy
As it kick starts all the reasons not to smile
Unhappy echoes on the irony
Languishing in its contemptuous laugh
Scratching at the days with its denial
Never seen
Not even when
Forgetting that ever once could be
So
Happy
Can you hear the sweet sound?
Of care-free birds all high
Singing unknown pretty tunes
If you can… please
Lend me your ears so I can embrace too
I heard the sun was out today
Shining its rays into the skin of men
Warming soul and hearts all around me
I woke up to darkness
If you can… please
Lend me your eyes so I can witness daylight
My beauty I have or so I believe
Lies beneath these clothes I bear
The pure, deep simple yet true smile
I know naught, hidden by the mask I stole
From nature to hide myself
Pretty. I hear them say, they don't know
I'm different in me, beneath my face
People have skeletons in their closets
I have masks, yes I laugh now
When reality strikes I die
I live by faith but it fails me @ times
I eat and breathe hope for a better tomorrow
Still it fails me @ times but I keep it somehow
The make believe world surrounds me
Still I laugh knowing tomorrow bears the same story
The people I hide in me
I believe, can roar a roaring lion back in amazement
Can make a child see love on another level
Mountains can bow down @ my heart
Yet these roads I travel are built on the people in me
If those eyes engraved on your face
The ears blooming on your head
The true smile stuck between your glooming cheeks
Can be spared just for a day… just for me
I'll kindly and freely trade them for my masks.
If not… take my hand and walk with me
For fear surrounds my loneliness
Sorrow clouds my judgement on each day I bear
Patience is a forlorn memory built in my head
Love exists only in my imagination…
Shyness, more than usual, had been my core kryptonite!
Innocent me! Like a panda bear, in my boyhood! Bright!
Girlish, the grown-ups crowned me! An inauspicious floret!
Praying: May boldness breathes in me by the Holy Spirit!!
Youthfulness, like a peacock, expressed blissful boyishness!
Cherished, as in a colorful garden, in joyousness!
There entered, as though foul eagles, the puritan grown-ups!
Blowing up every flaw of mine in colorful close-ups!!
Then, the kryptonite of my unwillingness to marry!
As I felt, I need not have heavy burdens to carry!
There crept in, the vultures, questioning my male potency!
Laughed! Abandoned me at the hands of divine destiny!!
A fallacy, like an unknown big bug, entered my brain!
Or a mess, hell-like, hidden by grown-ups, for greater gain!
Link of truth, broken betwixt my, fantasies and person!
Or elements, like messy knots, leading me to treason...!!
All these kryptonite, were not like black kraits, life-consuming!
But something unknown went within me was very glooming!
Though the meaning of life, like permanent flowers, blooming!
Dejections... despairs..., day after day, dignity dooming!!
Heavy drinking, nay, my drunkenness, lo, held its head high!
Like a fallen man’s land-hit-head, looking up to the sky!
Friends, angels of greed, no gain from me, left far from my sight!
Alcoholism, though an excuse, became my kryptonite!

YOUR KRYPTONITE Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Anthony Biaanco
A poem I wrote to my English teacher when she retired.
One amongst the multitude would gaze up in awe
And in his sight he would capture
A moment as unique as it is rare
A hovering globe
Overflowing with gold, showering the multitude with its unending contents
Inspiring envy within the rivers of El Dorado
Each droplet would sink into the soil beneath
Birthing glimmering auric trees from once mist enshrouded seedlings
And so did more of the multitude come to gather
The mulling throng stood dazed and gazing
Mesmerized by the omniscient presence looming above
Until one day
One by one,
The multitude disappeared, receding into the ground
One by one did sprout shimmering trees
Till one day did appear a clustered forest
Swaying to and fro in the breeze
In tribute to the sphere of imminence above
Swinging more frantically in the anticipating gust
And with glooming realization
They noticed a fading orb
Something is amiss, they thought
And with heart aching comprehension the trees stretched themselves to the skies
But before yearning could defeat reason
Unleashing its lassoes as the agent of reality
Gravity pulled to its mistress what still shared their roots with their mother’s womb
And only could they stare, limbs strained, as their sun faded away
And found its long awaited place amongst its unreachable companions
Stars in our distant past.
She said his grin was as charming
as a Shoebill Stock.
Warning others of his lack of
beauty and handsomeness.
His presence caused others
to feel spooked and haunted
creating a situation hard to ignore
and forget.
Nearing 3;45 the clouds
overtook the sunlight
a chilling darkness
took it's place. Glooming the
edges of daytime
a start upon her face. He stood there
watching and waiting
with no expression on his face.
I gazes toward her to gain my
composure, his ugly face looking
at me. He dropped his head
might I may see him,
there the things of nightmarish
stories ,stood before me.
I refused to gasp or
insult him he acted cool and cleverly.
leaving we gave him distance
before we talked about abou him
and his gasping entity.
Yet which in his presence
bad omens flush the veins
to the soul, and chill you to
the bone.Giving way to how
it is easiest to understand
why the have carny him into
legend. Tweed suit or frock coat
a costume that creates his
character. Elbarote groans and moans
they say they hear.
A story were he stood
in a doorway durning a storm.
And lightening striking when
the door creaked open. She said his face
looked as charming as a Shoebilled Stork
and spooky as cold chilled cloudy day,
his haunting persona is meant
to unravel: to pertrfy your
unluckness away.
