Fragmented Treasures and Tears

"FRAGMENTS AND CRUMBS OF LIFE, ALL THE LITTLE PIECES"
                                                             - John Ruskin, 1853

Sunlight gleams in fragmented rays
Phantoms flash in tormented ways
Memories drown my downcast mind
Fantasies make my eyes go blind
I cling to those little pieces
Hold on dear as heartbeat ceases
You and I walking down the road
Lost in each other's wrangling mode
Talking of love ever after
Mixed with our euphoric laughter
Who knew you would be gone so soon?
Leaving me lone under the moon
Tearful I look back in sorrow
Mourning for illusive morrow
All our love that ever matters
All our dreams and never afters
Thinking of you, walk to your grave
Fighting tears, I try to be brave
Hanging onto lingering crumbs
Reminders of love as it comes
Intimate moments that we shared
Discussions had, heart to heart bared
All these and more come to my mind
Cherished treasures you left behind

Opening My Door

Trapped within a bud of a thorny rose
Escaping and running into the night with you - where to nobody knows
Broken and bareback - we ride 'til we weep
Forever still watching my back - the demons will creep
Mistletoed kisses hung in the doorways and arches
Studying these sentences I form on parchment
Never too serious - I'll never let them in
When I'm equal - they have no clue where to begin
Poisonous corners - shadiness gleams in the dark
A bonified witch with a devil's mark
A copy, a clone - synthetically built
The patience and peace still left in my veins begin to tilt
The saddened eyes make a saddened disguise
They're crashing me down - forbidding me to rise
Darkened diamond in this ember-burnt sky
Awful regrets - wondering why
Without my rock, my stone, my gem
I can't feel comfortable within myself without him
Tedious reasoning - stupid and vague
Every fiber of my infinite soul you did raid
Sparkling unrequited - fake and false dismay
Stuck on believing inside your mind that there's only one way
The pain of these wasted years you forced me to participate in
Were rigged and corrupted to ensure that no matter what - I'd never win
This whole time you wouldn't let me go
You have this whole manifested idea of me - when you truly don't know
You thought I'd just put myself in your
And even if it's literally killing you and me - you still want it
You had this idea you swore you thought you knew
From the fact in the beginning - you admitted it was just to screw
You led me on 8 years - and we're counting even more
'Cause you refused to believe I was different when to you I opened my door

The Magnificence of Pen

though pen whispers its words,
even echoes perceive its poignant allure,
beyond the scratched surface, it breathes deep,
percolating the senses with its aura—
sniffed as the fragrance of rose.

in thought’s depths nib probes,
to uncover the truth hidden in words—
splashed on the parchment of beasts,
gleaming like stars through the night’s dark sky.

it lifts chaff from the winnowed grains,
to plant in great minds the beauty that grows,
and gleams in billowing beacons as hope despite gloom,
winning hearts, garnering accolades in droves.

still it purifies ponderings and erases errors—
not with force but with subtlety
of persuasion, illumination, and quiet candour—
to rejuvenate and kindle weary souls.

I am the wind
the textured curl of clouds
those specks of glitter
silver and gold are my
illustrative gleams

the foiling wings
that flutter and flap
feathers ripe with color

complementing all rosy hills
a rolling kiss a splash of
blush a dash of spicy dish
the pepper and the salt
of a morning's stirring serving

see me in the meadows
there where wildflowers overflowing
bees and butterflies how they gaily
bob take lick like little children
at the serving tops of apples candied
making funny faces where those more
tart chasing rainbow tails the
fond remnants of showers

I made this day for you
now do me honor
save some acres from your cities
and roads
one or two at the least
as I keep sacred
your plot through the heavens

Premium Member Beauty Walks the Street

“Raindrops fall down with blisses, sent from angels kisses.”

She walks down the wet street with her chic style
Catching eyes of passers by with her smile
Captivated by her sheer elegance
In spite of the down pouring elements.

Her skirt sways with each step that she does take
No denying she's a beauty with grace
Moonlight and lamplight embrace all her charms
The yellow flowers she holds are enhanced.

Hair that’s flowing down with golden highlights
Illuminated in gleams of starlight
Beneath that hat, sat most elegantly
The crowning glory of resplendency.

The click and clack of her stiletto heels
Adds to her lovely engaging appeal
The pretty lady cannot be discreet
As off she goes walking along the street.

Premium Member Golden Girl

Golden oak, the banister gleams,
its clean waxed surface lightly
touched by her soft, soft hand as she
descends the green carpeted stair,
tossing her lustrous, long blonde hair.
She is modishly dressed, in a casual way
(a green twill frock) and she is
eating an intense red, crisp apple,
which she carries aloft in her left hand,
left elbow resting on left hip.
The apple aroma precedes her to the door
and out, into the bright gold light.
She closes the door, engages the lock,
firmly bites into the crisp apple flesh,
flashing her strong white teeth;
her pink tongue licks a dribble
of juice from the left corner
of her red, red mouth. She shakes her head,
gold in the golden light, and she tosses
the half-eaten apple to the lush green lawn,
laughs at a soaring greenjay, passes (unnoticed)
a flight of fluttering golden butterflies,
and blithely continues on her determined way
to her beauty appointment, her club luncheon,
and the rest of her busy, busy day.

How did we get here

In the depths of impassioned passions we drown,
Emotional storms raging, a force unbound,
Love's essence elusive, a poet's mirage,
Today's love filled with pain and rage.

Words on a page, a love once pure,
Now consumed by flames, lost allure,
Evanescent, fleeting, love's fragile hold,
A tide that ebbs, a story untold.

How did we arrive at this precipice of pain?
Where promises of forever are made in vain,
Love's sanctity tarnished, a stain on the heart,
Once held so dear, now torn apart.

In this world of fleeting love and broken dreams,
We search for the truth, the love that gleams,
Through the chaos and the strife,
We seek the essence of true love, the essence of life.

LUMINOUS a potd

Luminous
lights appear
in my long dreams,
as my soul, so it seems, holds high
a periscope
for my heart and mind to see
every surrounding scene

beyond the heavy, seamed quilt of history
laid over my long sleep,
my long night — as deeply
black as the pupils of my eyes
mirroring a moonless, starless mid-night;

yet my soul floats
within this ever-amassing eternity —
wherein gleams an airglow for some sight
of the softly glistening atmosphere’s heights…
arising
    heavenward
and shimmering
~ while here within me
longings emanate
   (for a communion with God
         and a complete life)
appearing luminous and divinely embossed
— comprising my long, impassioned prayers
— all into making
the long necklace
  of gold-linked
    wishes and psalmed gratitdes

I kneel to sing
on these long nights
before my long sleeping…

GUIDING LIGHT

I once believed my yesterdays were born of sin,
That every misstep carved my name in shame,
That fate, austere, had turned her face from me
And marked my path with sorrow’s iron flame.

I wore my errors like a crown of thorns,
Each memory a whisper of regret,
Until the hour your gentle presence came
And taught my wounded heart what grace had meant.

For meeting thee was never born of chance,
Nor fashioned from the recklessness of fate;
And thus, if thou art truth, then all before—
My faults, my falls—were never truly weight.

What once I named a failure, dark and vain,
Now gleams as stars that led me through the night;
For every tear I shed in silent rooms
Was but a flame that kept thee in my sight.

The roads I cursed for twisting far from peace
Were pilgrim paths ordained by unseen hands;
Each sorrow shaped the soul I bring to thee,
Each wound a vow thou alone couldst understand.

Had I been spared the bitterness of loss,
Or walked untested through untroubled days,
My heart, untempered, might not know the depth
Of reverence with which I speak thy name.

So let the past stand blameless, reconciled—
For none of it was squandered, none in vain.
If thou art love, then all that came before
Was but devotion written first in pain.

I would not dare revise one grief, one scar,
Nor steal one shadow from my former sight;
For every broken hour conspired as one
To lead my soul at last unto thy light.

Thus here I stand, unburdened by remorse,
My history made holy in thy view—
For I was never lost within my sins,
I was but being shaped to come to you.
