A Conversation In Autumn

There were silence and stillness in the autumn air
Foliage adorned the trees like fair auburn hair
The stream did not bubble; the pond had no ripples
The garden seemed uninhabited by people

But the garden was not void of good company
On a bench was seated the little girl and me
‘You look quite troubled. What could be wrong?’ I asked her
‘Is there any way I could make you feel better?’

The little girl looked at me and said, ‘I feel lost…’
‘There is a debt that comes at much too high a cost
I cannot meet the price; it is just too hefty
This unmet debt unsettles me; I feel guilty…’

‘Debt? Hefty? Guilty?’ her vague statements puzzled me
‘What you are saying to me is a mystery!
What hefty debt could come at much too high a cost?
Is it greater than the price Christ paid on the cross?’

‘I understand what you’re saying in my mind’s eye
But my heart condemns me; that I cannot deny
For Christ, my Lord, tells me to love my enemy
But I can’t show concern to the one who hurt me’

I could not find the proper words to comfort her
Guilt burned within me like hot, ignited sulfur
Since the one who hurt me is not my enemy
Why does it repulse me to show her some pity?

After some silence and reflection, I asked her:
‘My dear, have you brought this struggle to God in prayer?’
‘Prayer?’ the little girl fidgeted uneasily
‘Well, no… I can’t…’ she sighed and bowed her head sadly

‘Well, why not?’ I pressed her for a clearer answer
‘I’m afraid… Afraid to pray about this matter
I’ve locked it up in that dark, familiar closet
It is something I want to, but cannot, forget’

‘Why would unlocking the closet bring you such fear?’
‘I don’t want to go to that room… I’m happy here
I was once held captive in that dark, dreadful room
Confined in a closet where despondency loomed

What if my return holds me captive forever?
What if the closet recaptures its prisoner?
No, I will never set foot in that room again!
Dear Lord, please spare me the trauma; save me the pain!’

Lost for words, I reached out and took hold of her hands
‘Our fears and struggles, our Lord Jesus understands
Though words of prayer may fail us, He knows our frailty
Entrust our guilt to Him; our load He will carry’

indeed attending continually upon my soul
Thank You for keeping me in Your care, away from covetousness-pole…
Here am I rendering unto You my all, fully whole
Always help me prioritize You most as I fulfill my heavenly goal.

Lord God, You are my ordaining Power,
indeed loving me with Your compassion
Thank You for keeping me in Your care, away from carnality’s oppression…
Here am I praising You for Your granted salvation and commission
Always awaken me to behold Your light of divine vision.

Lord God, You are my ordaining Power,

Thank you disillusionment

Thank you frailty

Thank you consequence

Thank you silence

introspection and contemplation
let go of something burdensome, which ultimately leads
to personal growth and transformation

A pivotal moment, represents as a turning point
where she gains a new perspective and begins to understand
the value of forgiveness, living in the present, and embracing her own divinity

How 'bout me not blaming you for everything?
blame the moon, release unriquited love and like a bird that doesn't know where their home is, fly away
How 'bout me enjoying the moment for once?

How 'bout how good it feels to finally forgive you?

How 'bout grieving it all one at a time?

Thank you frailty

The moment I let go of it was the moment

I got more than I could handle

The moment I jumped off of it

Was the moment I touched down

How 'bout no longer being masochistic?

How 'bout remembering your divinity?

How 'bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
signifies emotional release and catharsis,
suggesting that facing and processing emotions
 is crucial for personal evolution

How 'bout not equating death with stopping?

The Danger That Religion Presents Too Humanity

In shadows deep around the world,
here and there where thoughts converge,
A poem stirs, with words emerge,
To shed light on the dangers found,
When religion's cloak is tightly bound.

Religion, a force both ancient and grand,
Can unite hearts, make spirits expand,
Yet in its depths, a peril hides,
That can fracture love, and reason divide.

Humanity's quest for solace and hope,
Gave birth to faith, with ways to cope,
But zealotry lurks, its venomous fangs,
Injecting discord, where harmony hangs.

Dogma's grip, relentless and tight,
Blinds eyes to truth, distorts the light,
When beliefs become walls, shutting doors,
Exclusion breeds hatred, igniting wars.

Throughout history's tapestry bold,
Religion's bloodstains, their storys told,
Crusades, jihads, battles untamed,
Innocence lost, lives forever maimed.

Divisions deepen, as doctrines entwine,
Judgments and bias, no room to align,
Oppression thrives, on fervor's flame,
Suppressing freedoms, tarnishing each name.

The dangers lie not in faith alone,
But when control seeks an iron throne,
For those in power, the righteous few,
Manipulating truths, distorting views.

Science's wonders, held at bay,
Reason and progress, they seek to sway,
When dogma prevails, stifling the quest,
Innovation falters, and growth is suppressed.

But let not these words condemn the whole,
For within faith's sphere, great hearts console,
Compassion and love, its bedrock true,
When used as tools, can heal renew.

Let us embrace the wisdom we find,
In the essence of faith, to bind,
Not to divide or claim supremacy,
But to uplift, and set our spirits free.

The dangers that religion presents to all,
Lie in the hands of those who install,
Their narrow visions as eternal truth,
Neglecting the essence, and its golden youth.

So let us tread with care and insight,
Embrace the sacred, with minds alight,
Seek unity within diversity's grace,
Embrace the beauty of every faith.

For in the end, it's not faith alone,
That causes the dangers we've ever known,
But the frailty of hearts that sway,
From love's true path, thus led astray.

From The Heart To The Cross

The burden to carry on a journey slated,
Weighs heavily on an outcome known fated.
When faith is the belief in hope for deliverance
Where humanity’s destiny hangs in the balance.
In mirrors dwell prisoners angst desperate rot,
To lay their heads in the bosom of Madonna.
One way leads to the Saviour, the other does not.
Be it by choice, from the heart to the cross.
Comfort and joy. God will provide sanctuary:
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Though Mary mourns, her anguish is temporary.
Unbelievers throw stones, yet His Word lives on.
His last hour on Golgotha shook civilization.
Angels triumphantly trumpeted The Lord’s salvation.

A madman with hammer thrashes the Pietà 1
To eradicate the sculpture from history,
That Michelangelo chiseled out of Carrara marble, 2
Seating the Madonna larger and profanely stronger,
Cradling Jesus, whose appearance projects frailty.
As if having been chastised for allowing crucifixion.
A mollification for theological credence,
Unreinforced nor inspired by biblical writings.
By appeasement, the sculptor admits conspiracy
With dogma, misrepresenting Christ to the living.
Mary’s demure as she looks upon the contorted figure,
Supports the illusion of her lordly stature.
                            ***

Notes:
1) Pietà: The ‘Pietà’ is a sculpture by Michelangelo (1475-1564) depicting the Madonna cradling Jesus after His crucifixion. The sculpture was completed in 1500 and is housed in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, Italy.
On May 21, 1972, an Australian citizen vandalized the Pietà with a geologist’s hammer. The individual was not charged with any criminal offence but was hospitalized in Italy for two years; and then released and deported back to Australia.

2) Carrara marble: Carrara marble is stone quarried in Carrara, Tuscany, Italy. The three most common types of Italian marble are Carrara, Calcutta, and Statuary (aka Statuario). Michelangelo is reported to have said that this was the most ‘perfect’ block of stone he ever used.

At dawn of a place cocooned once in avarice
silver-haired savvy savor sweetness
serene symphony of silliness...

Each echo is adorned
in mirrors of moments whilom
Still, the illness remains a threat
Silhouettes shaped by streetlight gloom.

Luigi Mangione delivers an arcane calix
crestfallen at awe-in junction of cathartic pain,
mark of jeopardy, spirits who stumbled
amid intricate twists of a complex web
where wellness waltzs whimsically as demon
sibylline, errorless, and suave
flimsy fusion of flux and mellifluous maunder.

Let us linger in lurched odds of yeender,
covenant, of concept, and courtesy
firm freedom fetching fairness for all.
seeking serenity in the scripts of statutes.

Yet we wonder, wrapped in a
whirlwind of wearying red tape
frailty of fitness, a puzzling paradox
where reviews reverberate as an epiphany
as doctors and designs decide the merit
yesterday's valiant victors,
confront morrow's troubling disregard.

Oh, the convoluted challenges of continuing!
a clock clicks constantly in the foreground
each tick teases the transience of time
whilst systems swirl swiftly shift and shape
to the tempo of transition, a thrum of turmoil
In a society that shuns, or selects to shun,
figures featuring fervent faces, fates at stake.

We stand strong, side by side, in such a struggle
amid a wave of apathy and regulations
the price of wellness is presented plainly
a burden of broad-based break bears our back
yet, we discover dynamism in togetherness
a steadfast strength of souls have survived storms
in chuckles of cherished seniors, once more liberated.

As we ascend from the abyssal katabatic,
let us linger on the lessons learned
a frailty of life, a grace of guardianship
and let Luigi’s manifesto heard an odyssey
a clarion call for a fairer future
where the weak are warmly welcomed
and the whispers of a wretched world
weave a wondrous wave of wellness.

My heart sometimes trembles
As I remember…

All the ways He has blessed me
The times He has helped me
All the ways He has comforted me
The times He has reassured me
All the ways He has sheltered me
The times He has upheld me
All the ways He has corrected me
The times He has accepted me
All the ways He has brought grace to me
The times He has supported me
All the ways He has filled me with peace
The times He has called me His disciple
All the ways He has enlightened my soul
The times He has strengthened me
All the ways He has silenced my worries
The times He has brightened my thoughts
All the ways He has brought hope to me
The times He has relieved my grief
All the ways He has directed me to light
The times He brought me out of the dark
All the ways He has colored me in kindness
The times He has rained down joy for me
All the ways He has lightened my load
The times He has calmed my soul
All the ways He has consoled my spirit
The times He has eased my depression
All the times He has left me with a smile
The times He has loved me like His child
All the times He has promised me hope
The times He has erased all my doubt
All the times He has given me a chance
The times He whispered pleasure through me
All the times He made my heart beat wildly
The times He brought me laughter to cheer me
All the times He sent His spirit to inspire me
The times He urged me to know Him personally

My heart sometimes trembles…
As I remember…

All the times His grace persuaded my faith
The times I was lost when He found me
The times when I was confused…
And He reminded me His word would bring me…
Out of the shadows to the awareness of a love…
A love that restores each heart with the miracle
Of the One who came to deliver souls from anguish
Repair torn hearts and return spirits with hope
That knows, because He is alive, we can survive
The pain and sorrow, the struggle with worry
Every frailty and weakness that interrupts peace

My heart sometimes trembles…
As I remember…

His love is the answer… His love is eternal!

Perhaps

I am not sure I feel pain anymore
Perhaps it is the numbness in my soul
Stricken by the frailty of my heart
That has mercilessly been an object
Of exhibition from dry bones
Perhaps it is the gruesome discord
Between reality and my will to accept
That failure is not only for the faint
That it is also a subject of vicious patterns
That slowly engulfs a vivacious mind
Like the early stages of a malignant tumor

Saints wonder why my heart never bleeds
Perhaps no blood runs in my veins anymore
Only the colorless liquid from morning dew
That hugs my skin with fresh new dawn
Yes perhaps the hope of yesterday
Will be my rhythm for a new tomorrow
Perhaps the epilepsy in my life will pass
Yes, it will disappear like a fleeting dream

Friends ask why I don’t cry anymore
I tell them it is not the stiffness of my heart
But the pain beyond endurance in my soul
A pain so excruciating it can handle no tear
Perhaps I must live so others can live beyond
Perhaps I must fight that others may win the battle
Perhaps I must catch a glimpse of glory bright
Perhaps I must blink away the restless winds
That others may settle in the bliss of heavenly truth

Heavens asked why I pray no more
Perhaps my life can no longer be a museum of eternity
Yet at the same time be manipulated
By short circuits of shame and outright rejection
Perhaps the bullets of abrupt loss
Have left too any holes in my life
Perhaps my heavenly possession is more abstract
Perhaps I am not sure what to tell daddy anymore
Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day
And perhaps tomorrow will never come
Perhaps I will wake up one morning
And all this will be but just another dream

They all ask why I am always smiling
Perhaps it’s the little girl in me
That never lost her innocence and simplicity
Perhaps it is the little voice in me
That always wants to sing jingle bells for Christmas
Perhaps it’s the little faith in me
That still wants to see the promise of heaven
Perhaps I am still waiting for the best of times
Perhaps I am the best of times
