WHEN MY WORDS ARE MORE THAN HEARD
When my words act as proverbs
When my verbs are heard.
When the simple become wise
When my people listen to reason
And no longer follow folly.
When my adjectives invoke action,
Instead of reaction.
When young eyes are opened
To the riddles of the wise.
When a mother's words are adhered to.
When exhortations, means more than mere suggestions!
Recognizing it as a calling forth, a coming near.
Till' those who have ears will no longer hate knowledge;
But embrace my words as wise sons
And daughters. Children of my proverbs will
Use my words to form shields against the wicked-ones.
Ones who seek to destroy you.
So, gather together as sticks In a bundle.
Noticing what we have in common, as we
Are stronger as one.
When my words call you away from harm,
And you ignore my warnings.
There will be some who will take my words as trill...
And throw the solutions in the garbage, as wasted verbiage
My proverbs need now be heard and heeded.
Not wait until you realize they're needed.
Do not look for me in the midst of the storm...
For I and I shall be gone.! leaving the sirens on.

Thank You for shielding me from worldly understanding and its vanity
By Your words of truthful verity
That strengthen me of eternity’s certainty…
Surely establishing my faith toward values of eternity.
Thank You for shielding me from ungodly knowledge and its vexation
By Your principles of clear instruction
That uphold me against brutish perilous sanction…
Surely keeping my heart toward Your direction.
Thank You for shielding me from humanistic wisdom and its craving
By Your teachings worthy of learning as well as receiving
That instill in me doctrines for spiritual thriving…
Surely filling my mind with Your precepts toward righteous serving.
Thank You for shielding me from habitual slothfulness and its misery

Absolutes
1
Darkness dominates
the earthly cycle at year’s end.
This is true
no matter how many fools
legislate otherwise.

Dogs have unerring internal clocks
and finite bladders.
Taken together,
these absolutes of nature
guarantee that I’ll witness
every dawn from November to March
regardless of my
preferences or exhortations.
I don’t have a problem with this,
although I’d much rather be relishing
the warmth of bed and wife.
I trade comfort for being part of
cold quiet pinking toward sunrise,
snow blowing horizontal,
rain sometimes gentle,
often thrown hard against the ground
heaped upon the poor dogs
answering the call
of another of nature’s absolutes:
when you gotta’ pee,
you gotta’ pee.
Now* is the time to assert God’s truth-verity
Affirming the Lord’s love of mercy’s certainty
Especially His salvation along eternal life’s security.
Now is the time to avoid falsity and deceit
Abiding not in discouragement defeat
Vanquishing unbelief with Scriptures’ heat.
Now is the time to attend to the Lord’s warning
Heeding to divine admonitions for attitude-refining
Thus, from selfishness and pride … abstaining.
Now is the time to appreciate the Saviour’s grace
Accentuating thanksgiving for His goodness-brace
Worshipping Him sincerely, bereft of guilt’s trace.
Now is the time to apply Bible instructions
According to the Supreme Commander’s exhortations
By His wise guidance toward worthy service-directions.

LORD GOD, YOU ARE MY OFFERING RECEIVER
Lord God, You are my offering Receiver
Who requires my sacrifice without blemish
Thank You for Your righteousness devoid of any tarnish
To wash me from being filthy and selfish
So I can be holy; and in sinfulness, I will not perish.
Lord God, You are my offering Receiver
Who corrects my constant doubting
Thank You for Your guidance toward Your wise directing
To bring me to Your forgiveness for my sincere repenting
So I can be cleansed; and Your Word, I keep on trusting.
Lord God, You are my offering Receiver
Who chastises my iniquity
Thank You for Your perfection against my impurity
To sanctify me with Your blood’s purging certainty
So I can be consecrated; and in Your will, I find security.

Who disciplines my negligence
Thank You for Your instructions that uphold my faith’s persistence
To guard me from worries and unbelief so intense
So I can be prayerful; and in Your fellowship, I enjoy Your presence.

for His eyes that:
Watch our worship
Wake us from wavering
Warn us against worldliness
Witness our worthless waywardness

children are special treasures
carved with love; polished with care
learning great lesson of compassion from parents
since babyhood when they were welcomed with serene bliss.
Prospered in their nourishing home
children progress with gracious nurture
along growing up pains and mirth-filled adventures
bracing adolescence might of curiosity-driven pursuits
to optimize freedom-driven exploits, guided by parents.
Prodded toward challenging choices
children radiate wisdom they have gained
exhortations on virtues, reflecting parents’ faith-prudence
admonitions for good manners, fortified by training and discipline
vis-à-vis imparted kindness indeed marked with sharing of blessings.
Propelled beyond carrying family name
children continue to expose parents’ legacy
verily endowed well, by the bounty of the Lord
around sweet partnership and harmonious relationship
midst exercise of truth, forgiveness, justice, gratitude, and appreciation.
*Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
