HEART THAT WALKS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from worldly understanding and its vanity
By His words of truthful verity
That strengthen us of eternity’s certainty
Surely establishing our faith toward His values of eternity.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from ungodly knowledge and its vexation
By His principles of clear instruction
That uphold us against brutish perilous sanction
Surely keeping our steps toward His direction.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from humanistic wisdom and its craving
By His teachings worthy of learning as well as receiving
That instill in us doctrines for spiritual thriving
Surely filling our minds with His precepts toward righteous serving.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from habitual slothfulness and its misery
By His proddings worthy of diligent story
That move us against indolence-caused worry
Surely prompting our will toward His work’s labour-victory.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from pride and its foolishness
By His reproofs of humility-meekness’ effectiveness
That abase us against selfishness’ haughtiness
Surely leading our submission toward His authority’s graciousness.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from earthly perception and its endeavour
By His purposes of heavenly fervour
That guard us against temporal ambitions’ savour…
Surely guiding our commitment toward His divine favour.
Our heart walks in the law of the Lord…
…from carnal convenience and its enticement
By His exhortations for holiness’ engagement
That drive us against futility’s detriment
Surely encouraging our stewardship toward His rewarding fulfillment.
