On the first part of the journey,
I’m chewing nice toasty bread
all my toys down below me,
dog’s ripping them to shreds
This new world’s a mixture of fun,
stitched together between dread
And with happy ever after endings,
hard to see any troubles ahead

Days appear to get longer,
empty space grows and spreads
Old people I know disappearing,
as monoliths pop up instead
Time for a proper education,
my hands are swollen and red
Teacher beats me badly each day,
says be better if I never bred

Carpet frays beneath my feet,
so I decide to follow the thread
path’s becoming ever clearer,
like all halfwits I’m easily led
And the priest keeps on rocking,
I think he’s glad Elvis is dead
Dad shouts your getting a job,
lazy bastard get out of bed

In the abattoir each morning,
I spilt blood til my fingers bled
DANGER! sign above the kill box
no way the cow’s could’ve read
On my way home at twilight,
a bomb goes off inside my head
Stroke of luck your right vision’s left,
the optimistic doctors said

Time heals all except aging,
chairs turn into curved sleds
Rocking away on the porch now
unaware about being misled
But I don’t care cos I’m happy,
a side effect of miracle meds
Sublingual strips, work wonders,
journey’s over, again spoon fed

It's a Teen's Passion

Whenever teens gather for an annual concert in Central Park,
they can't wait to swing their bodies hypnotized by wild music:
it's the irresistible charm of their idol...it's the rhythm and beat
of the song they'll shout until they can sing louder than a lark!

Then, wouldn't we admit it's a teen's passion, or another trand?
Today's lyrics mesmerise, but to us they are ludicrous and blank!
We had ours when Elvis was king of the land,
let's understand them...we were just like them!

It's a teen's passion arosing an undeniable desire for a franzied, youthful living!
And if some songs promote rebellion and encourage promiscuity:
it's their choice to listen to what they like and project it as reality!
So why deny them all the fun...didn't we think that swing and rock were thrilling?

A Whiskers Tale: Watching the Detectives

"A Whiskers Tale: Watching the Detectives"

Her whiskers tickle
when the lights go out
hormonal huntress
on the prowl
Moonlight chasing
itsy bitsies
up the wall
a silent investigator
tap dancing silently
soft as mink and sibilant
paws poised
across a different kind of
polished slippery dance floor
criminally inclined
researching minds
a baby in her
isolation crib
for sure

soft-shoe shuffling
never bored.

" I shut my doors on that dark guilt,
I bolt the door, each door I bolt.
Blood quickens, gonging in my ears:
The panther's tread is on the stairs,
Coming up and up the stairs..."

Champagne reign of Shane

It’s been 3 years since the low blow of nadirs

As we said hooroo to you..goodbye to our top guy

Still feeling...reeling from the pain

Of all the polished veneers of careers

Which is the best palimpsests of Test contests..conquests

The class...VIP pass..no glass ceiling

Why..has to be the insane arcane Shane gravy train

You know they’re in the hall of fame..like Elvis

When they just get called by their first name

Palpable fears cricket will never ever

Be quite the same game again

Cricketing Gods above showered their love.. on an upstart..

Who didn’t just play his part but resurrected

The respected but sadly neglected.. leg spin art

Vision of befuddling precision & derision lingers

The dawn of Warne

Muddling aplomb of his first ball against a Pom

Fingers flipped…it dipped..gripped..ripped

Nipped..skipped..clipped off stump

Leggy bomb….under the pump

Down in the dump chump

Plump Gatting slipped..pipped

We quipped..ill equipped..standing sentry for

The outstanding ball of the century

Shane twirled & quite simply

Changed the world of batting

Gandalf's celestial staff...walks the walk...talks the talk

On some extra terrestrial path

And at tother end..you're having a laugh..where

When there's then the zen

Of his old friend Glenn McGrath

Warnie’s masterplan of..flair…elan and despair

Devious...mischievous...had plenty of previous

Alright unfair trite slights about hair implants..highlights

Off the square delights…did revel with rare

On another level.. seedier devil may care flights

Done like a kipper by a ripper

Wannabe chipper skipper's flipper again

One of the game’s greatest readers & media feeder

Should've been.. hallowed.. not fallowed leader

Memories never wane of how

Shane did forever entertain

A whizz doing the biz with such fizz

Legendary larrikin of sin & spin

So let's ordain the Champagne

Campaign & Reign of Shane!

Egypt An Ancient Culture

Poet: Otieno Elvis Gikoi

 *EGYPT AN ANCIENT CULTURE*

It's a ring,
A ring of Egyptian culture,
Where people lived together,
Optimism, confident, kind-hearted
Generosity and sense of humor,
Is all they are known for.

Egyptian People:
Had a wonderful nature,
With a welcoming heart,
Used to live happily even after work,
Were self-sufficient on the poor.
Peaceful they lived.

The wore undyed clothes,
Respected the laws of the land,
Believed in a happy life,
Clothing were so descent,
Respected women rights.

Their culture,
Gave power to man,
As the head of the family,
As women, the head of the home,
Taught their kids on their culture,
Which was full of harmony and balance.
Making them different from other cultures.

Egyptian culture,
Believed their land was intimately,
Hitched their distinctive salvation.

Ooh, what a wonderful culture,
That was patriot,
Which served their country army,
And encouraged,
Which is still immortal in history,
With simple behavior and living.

Premium Member Ode To Three Rock Stars

There once was a crooner with sideburns
Whose lips howled and hips churned as he turned
   His first name was Elvis
   They called him "The Pelvis"
Until the day he flamed out, crashed and burned

Jimi Hendrix sure wowed 'em at Woodstock
Created a new form of acid-rock
   He performed Purple Haze
   In a drug-induced daze
Star-Spangled Banner in permanent shock

And lest we forget Janis Joplin
Whose songs really kept her fans hoppin'
   She went on a spree
   With Bobby McGee
Then she OD'd, which ended her boppin'

These three heroes all met similar fates
Thinking themselves immortally great
   They took liberties
   With their minds and bodies
Canceling their remaining concert dates

Are You Following Me Cause You'Re Making Mr Nervous

I see that you started following me
Did you click the gold star on a whim
Are you now sitting back, trying to relax
Waiting for it all to begin

Did you come here looking for answers
Or simply to be entertained
Should I now bring in the flamingo dancers
Arriving daily on the boogie train

Are you here to share in some laughs
Or looking for a shoulder to cry
Maybe you felt a pull to follow this fool
And you have no idea of why

Did you read the fine print..."If you follow me"
To closely it might drive you insane
I have dozens of lawyers waiting in the wings
That can expertly shift all the blame

So whether I hang out with the head of Johnny Depp+
Or start belly button lint dust fires+
Even digging up the body of Elvis +
All would be true if it wasn't a lie

Just remember that whatever happens
When I open the door to my soul
And give a slight peak, inside to see
It's not like you haven't been warned

Premium Member What Shall We Celebrate Today

We Americans are very creative when it comes to conquering malaise,
By founding specific times in which to celebrate any wacky craze!
Legal holidays are well established and we honor Father and Mother,
But each day, week or month we lionize some silly thing or other!

There's a "National Bubba Day" and "Check Your Batteries Day."
There's a "Poem In Your Pocket Day" and a "Clerihew Day."
A "Dump Your 'Significant Jerk' Week" and "National Rabbit Week."
A "National Scoop The Poop Week" and a "Cockoo Dancing Week."

I'm thrilled to know about "I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore Week."
For the pudding aficionado there's a "Bread Pudding Exchange Week."
I can appreciate "Hug Your Cat Day" but not "Appreciate A Dragon Day."
I will eagerly celebrate "Eat What You Want Day" and "Act Happy Day."

There's even a "Middle Name Pride Day" and "Upsy Daisy Day!"
I can forego "National Go Barefoot Day" and "National Licorice Day."
'Twould be well for all to observe "Be Kind To Humankind Week!"
There also happens to be an "Elvis Week" and "Cookie Cutter Week."

Church attendance seems to rise during "Bingo Month" in December.
Dog lovers, be aware of "Responsible Dog Ownership Month" in September.
I pray your life has been edified by all of this meaningless information,
But I felt it my obligation to further enhance your education!

Mid-Western Taco Stand

I frequent a little taco stand
Every time that I'm out west
With Elvis behind the counter
Dressed in his leathers best

Janice Joplin doing dishes
With Southern Comfort breath
Arguing with fry cook Jim Morrison
Over the best way of cheating death

Jimi Hendrix works the tables
That they have set up out front
Recommending the mushroom taco
With the psychedelic crunch

Marilyn Monroe...the entertainment
Nightly serenades the gents
While wearing her favorite T-shirt
Bobby Kennedy for president

I highly recommend the little taco stand
If you ever find yourself out West
Who's going to show up to take your order that day
Could be anybody's guess
