Premium Member The Scariest Stanza In All of Poetry

Numerous number systems beyond the real:
complex numbers, octonions, omnions which can eat whole black holes.
It's axiomatic that your personal history, preferences, how you feel
account for nothing at all.

$30 buys a flock of chickens for a needy family (International Rescue
      Committee)
$29 gets a girl a school uniform (CARE), for $300 you can stock a fish
      pond (Heifer International)
$69 can start a female entrepreneur in the sewing business (Mercy
      Corps)
$5 will buy a bed net that protects a family from mosquitoes (Against
      Malaria)

20th century experiments demonstrated that electrical charge is
quantized; that is, it comes in
multiples of individual small units called the elementary charge, e,
      approximately equal to 1.602
x 10-19 coulombs (except for particles called quarks which have charges
      that are multiples of
1/3e).

Why has the experimentalism of the avant-garde, which has failed in the
      novel, succeeded in
poetry? Because poetry is always experimental; while the novel, on the
      contrary, by its nature,
cannot be . . . which is to say that experimentalism is synonymous with
      poetry, and that applied
to the novel, it leads simply to the substitution of the novel with poetry.
      --Alberto Moravia

Man made the town, Fibonacci inflated zero to be the wheel
around which the universe turns and language is the soul
walking and talking quietly or going angrily to war.
"Counting is in its very essence magical, if any human practice is at all.
For numbers are things no one has ever seen or heard or touched."
      As are words.

Joan Didion thought the scariest stanza in all of poetry
begins Row, row, row your boat gently
down the stream. The elements, the material penumbra,
irresolvable for the mortal, readily dissolve in words and numbers.

Premium Member This Year I Wish

Grief and fear long held me too frail to welcome any new year.
An accident vanished me to despair where at best, I lived pail.
Then love’s light availed me with strength to befriend my limits
and grow my best self through, with and because of spirit.

I weep that ignorance can immobilize a good life inside stupidly
grown strife where blessings are cloaked and lacking in life.
This year, I wish for truth to be demonstrated under my roof;
this is a home where love steadfastly, eagerly flows
and it’s significance has more import and value than gold.
May harmony grow its hold of pureness in selfless family
hearts, and keep its stay steady in love’s uplifting mold.

I wish destruction upon my Mother’s held bag of nothing,
though quite saggy for weighty is the past when a toted bag.
I long for content moments that fulfill my Mother’s days
and her heart, leaving no residue of sad as falsely dragged.

This year, I picture energy lifting me into enthused activities
of accomplishment that best tend my home hearth fires,
my family, spiritual growth and the notes of my joy’s desires.

I have strong new year’s wishes for those in my personal care;
that I may activate, in accord with universal flow, all the ways
my love’s share might motivate desires in my disabled brother
and challenged son to be, do, feel, think, conquer, get involved,
learn, follow curiosity and all other turns needed to reach feels
that reveal their paths of purpose where fulfillment may evolve.

Premium Member The Power of Poetry

"Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words,
after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost,
something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry."
— Mary Oliver

I neither studied, searched for, nor found poetry.
Poetry found me as I wandered in the wilderness.
It was not a beautiful poem that I read.
It was a defining poem that read me.
I was angry, disoriented, confused, and lost.

In school, I was not fond of poetry.
I thought that it was of the abstract.
The pen, paper, and typewriter were already
friends of mine, but not for writing poetry.

Some 15-plus years ago, I wrote a poem that
was meant to help save a marriage. My friend
and his wife divorced anyway. The power of
the pen was too late for them.

The second poem I wrote demonstrated to me
that poetry is indeed a live and powerful tool.
Imaginary words from a dying one brought comfort
and embraced the family of the deceased. That poem
has led to more than 2000 additional poems.

Premium Member Instinctive

a cool breeze
caressing my skin
and then
she plummets into her own mind
deep
deep.. within
digging up old demons
devils who tried to denounce her destiny
friends she took in
as daughters
she demonstrated her dainty and her delicate ways
she has her ways
ways that are no longer destroying her
this dandelion is free
but.. this cool breeze
she made sure she kept some distance from her mind
something new caressing her skin
her dare-devil, melanin mixed with magic skin
skin cut and bruised with fake smiles pinned some where near her jaw line
skin
mysterious and intriguing and glittery skin
but.. this cool breeze
a breeze that penetrates everything beautiful
a free fall of the mind
her safe landing (for my sake)

all instinctive..

a happy day

A glad day

the morning started badly at breakfast when she reminded me, I had a doctor’s appointment at four in the afternoon
Breakfast was ruined, at lunch, I ate a little fretted about the storm and the rain I can’t possibly go out, drive in this weather, or risk getting a cold; we took a taxi.
The waiting time at the hospital took half an hour, when my name was called, I froze in terror, the way my dog used to when she needed a bath
I needn’t have worried, good news all the way The doctor also said I looked like a Viking, this pleased me so much, full of myself, I got up and demonstrated the exercises I do in the morning. I got my longed-for applause

At Any Given Moment Countless Thought Processes

Soundlessly ricochet to and fro
hither and yon
roundly bobbing within squarely donned
talking heads of psycho killers,
one pyromaniac burning
down the crowded house
sparking magnificent conflagration
towering inferno emulating

caterwauling, kickstarting, ululating
(think) stray cats on a hot tin roof
nsync with 10,000 maniacs
intense heat and duraflame
long since eroding
weather beaten soul asylum
strip mining away
vestial trace, hence impossible mission

rectifying purposeless existence
imputed to passive self sacrifice
upon cusp of prepubescence
mystified, mummified, modified,
stilled, lulled, andhushed
obsessively grammatically fanatical
oftimes feeble efforts yielded countless
corrective editing measures
subsequently rendering lame

resultant deplorable effort
despite NON GMO gluten
and monosodiumglutimate free
diet of (hooked) worms
limply tethered symbolic constructs
analogous to dangling participles
scraping, plowing, etching...
imperfect triangulated Hollywood squares

across parched stream of consciousness
former luscious cerebral riverbeds
long since bone dry
millennium since onset climate change
courtesy global warming
blowing in the hot torpid wind
sands of time elapsed
accepted biological demise

forever linkedin with his forebears
birth/death repurposed cycle
activated, demonstrated, gifted...
integration, narration, reincarnation...
biochemical, geological, paleontological...
legacy randomly begetting me
epochal, integral, orbital saga
since time immemorial
fifty plus shades of once ashen gray

well muscled athletic human specimen
oblivious corpse good n plenti
petrified, metamorphosed, coalesced
bleached skull and crossbones
grown brittle when blazing sun's
rays generated aforementioned disparate ideas
jangled, rankled, and zapped
in tandem with bared tiger (no lion)

slapdash pell mell, helter
skelter, higglety pigglety...
germane blitzkrieg rained down above
leaving writer, tortured, mortified, and benumbed
without either sense or sensibility
nor pride and prejudice
perusing discombobulated chaotic
kamikaze lobbed muddlesome nonsense.

Premium Member What's Going On - What Is It

Is it the West Wing is not the Best Wing?
Is it the White House is not the Right House?
Is it the President needs a New Residence?
Is it the Democrats the “New Aristocrats?”
Is it the Different Changing or Staff rearranging?
Is it the Many allegations leading to terminations?
Is it the Confessions? The firing of Jeff Sessions?
Is it the Twitter Sitter has gotten bitter?
Is it the Fast and fury of a President weary?
Is it the Things going on that’s so unstable?
You should all be able to resolve the issues and sit at the same table
Is it the CNN banning from the White House?
What happened to Freedom of the Press?
So many things going wrong, it is just a big, hot mess
Is it the Migrant caravan which is said to be an “Invasion?”
Is it the Diversity of the Black, the Chinese, Hispanic or Asian?
Is it our election process and how it was done?
Nine days after and still unsure who won
Is it the Provisional ballots and uncounted votes
That’s making other countries look at us and take notes
Of what it is that they should not do
What happened to being the country that the others looked up to?

When it comes to the friction, what's really going on? Everyday there's something new, but nothing better. Right now there is no control, so much is out of control, so many wanna control. The conflicts, disagreements, war of words... really yall??? We are so much better than the behavior being demonstrated.
To me personally, it's not about the Democrats winning or the Republicans winning if when it's all said and done, the country is losing.
The Constitution of the United States (Preamble) begins by saying, “We the People…” Which means, it’s about coming together, uniting and winning for The People! It is about us! FIGURE IT OUT!!!

The bickering and fussing, it all just needs to stop
Let's get this country where it belongs - And that is back on top!

Passion's Pull

I do NOT want to get up
I wanna sit here...in my sorrow
I do NOT, I WILL NOT hope
That things will be better tomorrow

I will not
.....do you HEar me!?!
..............HOPE

Oh, look, she doesn't have a coat
It's freezing outside and I am warm
I don't need this little jacket
I believe this will cover her tiny form

He's hungry, isn't he?
I've bought him food before
Again? even when he's writing his sign
He won't care that he's fed as he walks out that door

I swear if she says one more thing
About how I'm livin' my life
Fine, Jesus, I'll hold my peace
To keep free from stirring up strife

Look at him, he just hurt that child
Look at his heart...break
Daddy, don't you know you value him
With every inconsistency you take

Let me SPEAK, Jesus!
You made me a poet, yet demand I keep silent
Even worse, I can't judge evil
When it is clearly demonstrated in the violent

words and deeds....of others

My LORD, help me, for lacking the compassion
...............a loving mother

Isn't the point of being a mother
The unconditional love she pours into another

You have my heart
I'm sorry for my constant pull
Against everything
You want to rule
.....over

I know and accept your covering
I submit when you pull me to rest
But passion inflames my soul
The moment I lay my head upon your breast

....where I find nourishment for the famished
............and you pour me out as drink offering

Though I hate the constant struggle
I would not want to be anything other than a loving mother

Premium Member Significance of Easter

Organic form goes through birth and death
Thus man too did believe in death’s inevitability
Until Jesus practically demonstrated resurrection
Signalling that we too may so transcend, as did He
Upon lighting the three fold flame of Christ in our heart

Scriptures abound with similar miraculous illustrations
Let’s take the epic book, ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’
It affirms the resurrection of Sri Yukteshwar Giri
Likewise bilocation power of Anandamayi Ma
Validating truth that there’s no limitation

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus goes deeper
Being a channelled text of the Akashic records
Elucidating that at the beginning of each life cycle
Our Father in heaven sends His son to walk among us
Demonstrating the zenith heights of mankind’s potential

Recognising we are soul eternal, for a sojourn upon earth
With love alone as real, all else but a thought construct
We choose to exit the narrow cravings of lower mind
Living joyfully with all beings, in a borderless world
Respecting the soul journey of each life form

Easter then for humanity, a gentle wake up call
To glorify God with each breath inhaled by His will
Returned back to void, infused with pure loving intent
Each cell of mind-body slowly transfigured as living light
That we ascend, merging with God’s blissful luminescence

Premium Member 1960's Swingers

The great Elvis Presley stole the show
When it came to music, fast and slow

Patsy Cline could sing so sweet and fine
Without a doubt, her voice would shine

Hank Williams had a son with his name
Like father, like son – they claimed fame

Ray Charles played despite being blind
His listeners knew he was one of a kind

Aretha Franklin had a voice of pure gold
It was certain that her records were sold

Jimi Hendrix’s music would travel the world
As his listeners swayed, twirled and swirled

Elvis said Orbison was the world’s greatest singer
With a three-octave voice, his voice would linger

With Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash became world renown
His vocals rebuilt faith in those who’d been beat down

Me and Bobby McGee made this lady legendary
Janis Joplin was a soul who was far from ordinary

Diana Ross played for those who loved to hear her
With a voice like an angel, she made the soul purr

Cher demonstrated what it means to believe in yourself
With confidence and guts, she’ll never be put on a shelf

Stevie Wonder made the heart feel like it has been blessed
Without a doubt, he stirred feelings the heart would attest

The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and so many other singers
Knew the meaning of giving the 60’s its assembly of swingers
