The Odyssey Pantoumimed - Ii

We let loose the untamed winds
As boulders crashed eleven ships were lost
With storm unabated into the Laestrygons we ran
T'was one lone ship which hit Circe's land

As boulders crashed eleven ships were lost
Fair isle it was of verdant green, of misty hills
T'was one lone ship which hit Circe's land
Warm welcome and viands was Circe's fare

Fair isle it was of verdant green, of misty hills
Odysses, Circe's love was spared as we were turned to swine
Warm welcome and viands was Circe's fare
Spell broken with Herme's help we all were back on board.

Odysses, Circe's love was spared as we were turned to swine
Thence we sailed to Hade's land where roam the souls about
Spell broken with Herme's help we all were back on board.
We were counseled on how to beat the odds

Thence we sailed to Hade's land where roam the souls about
With beeswax we stuffed our ears and Odysseus was tied to the mast
We were counseled on how to beat the odds
The Sirens' serenade was in vain

With beeswax we stuffed our ears and Odysseus was tied to the mast
Next Scylla and Charybdis were sate with six of our doughty men
The Sirens' serenade was in vain
Our last misfortune as a crew was on Helios shore

Next Scylla and Charybdis were sate with six of our doughty men
We tasted off succulent meat and were struck by Zeus' bolts
Our last misfortune as a crew was on Helios shore
Of twelve ships and their crew only Odysseus survived the sail

We tasted off succulent meat and were struck by Zeus' bolts
Past Scylla and Charybdis again, Odysseus floundered all alone
Of twelve ships and their crew only Odysseus survived the sail
Bedraggled and beat, a weary man he was trapped in Calypso's thrall

Past Scylla and Charybdis again, Odysseus floundered all alone
For seven years did Calypso's arms embrace the valiant hero
Bedraggled and beat, a weary man he was trapped in Calypso's thrall
Finally, on Hermes' plea Calypso let him go.

For seven years did Calypso's arms embrace the valiant hero
Great heroes we consigned to flames
Finally, on Hermes' plea Calypso let him go.
We sailed the seas from Trozan shores

His light shone brightly, like a beacon on a hill
shining forth for all the world to see.
Boldly did he proclaim the gospel, the good news
the very heart and soul of Christianity
Jesus, the Way, the Truth, the Life!

He was a man of conviction, a man of faith
a man of integrity. A man whose words
lit up a fire, a stirring, in the hearts of the masses.
Words from God, Words from the Bible
Words inspired by the Holy Spirit.

He came from humble beginnings
a farmer's son from North Carolina.
Yet God had His eye on him
no ordinary man would he be.
God had a plan for this young man's life
a plan that he could never even imagine.

God raised this man up to become a
preacher among preachers
a modern John the Baptist.
His crusades packed multiple coliseums
the world over, as the words would ring out...
"Repent and be saved! Believe the Bible!
Confess your sins! Ask Christ into your
heart, and He will save you!"
And they would come...

I was a young teenager in the early "70's
when I attended his crusade in Oakland, Ca.
with my family and my best friend.
I had already received Jesus, but my friend
the daughter of a Baptist minister, had not.
But she did that night. She heard the call.

Yes, the call went forth mightily from
that powerful preacher, ringing out,
strong and sure, with conviction.
Many people rose from their seats
and poured down the aisles.
My friend also went down, and I with her.
The choir sang, "Just As I Am".
There were tears, there were praises!
I will never forget that night.

For years, he continued to preach the
gospel message all over the world.
He counseled many generations of
US Presidents, he met with world leaders.
He was truly a man of God.

Today, he finally met his Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, face to face.
He had said in the past how much
he looked forward to this day.
And the only thing he wanted to hear
from His Lord was this...
"Well done, thou good and faithful
servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord."

Today, that mighty, yet humble servant
Billy Graham, heard just that.
Today, he is rejoicing with His Savior
in heaven! Praise the Lord!

She should have been Hera, goddess queen of heaven, the sister-wife of
Zeus, king of the gods; she would have caught him one Friday night tipping
Out while she sleeps to visit one of his plumy wives and over 100 relations.
She would have said, “Sit down Zeus; let me inform you about the laws of
Property settlement and child support in heaven with a concrete poem.”

She would have straightened up Aphrodite, goddess of love and lust.
Especially when Aphrodite was caught red-handed making love to
Her son, Ares, the God of war, she probably would have said, “Now look
Here woman, quit messing with my son and creating all this rumblings in
Heaven with the gods.” I could see some Lanturne poems floating

She would have acted as the sister of Demeter, goddess of fertility,
Agriculture, and harvest, a sister of Zeus. Because she would have
Blessed women with children who need them, and also farmers
With great harvest and crops to feed their families and sustain the
People across the land, by waving a haiku poem in her healing hands

She would have screamed as the sister of Hermes, the crooked cattle-rustling
God; son of Zeus and Maia, who stole his brother, Apollo’s cows, then
Lied, and swore before Zeus, their father, “That even if I knew who stole
Apollo’s cattle, I would not even accept a reward for finding the thief.”
She would have gave her crooked brother, and son of Zeus, a flying senryu

She would have been with Athena, the virgin goddess of wisdom, reason, and
Heroic endeavors; the daughter of Zeus, and Titan goddess of wise counsel
Métis, especially when Athena appeared onto Swift-footed demigod,
Achilles, and told him, “Sheathe your sword and defeat Agamemnon, the
Greek king with words of wisdom.” I could see some wise epigram poems

She was probably counseled by Apollo, her brother, god of music, healing, and
Poetry; the son of Zeus and the Titan goddess Leto. Because she has cared
For the sick in hospital emergency rooms, and has also stimulated us for years
With her poetic muse. She has counseled many along the way and has calmed
Many storms with loving charm. “Hail my sister in Christ—Karen O’Leary!”

Happy birthday angel and wishing you many more for years to come!

Premium Member God Saw a Prize

My world a chasm of utter darkness
Dreariness enveloped me like a cloud
Bound by chains in an abandoned fortress
Tormented body - a field freshly plowed
Accomplishments ignored; voice never heard
Wondered why on earth was I even born
Treated like clipped wings of a fallen bird
Ripped to shreds, I could no longer be torn
Unsettling to be taunted by others
When all you do is exemplify love
Why is it so hard to love one another
As commanded by the Savior above
I tried so hard to find favor in their sight
All efforts were unfavorably received
I began to pray and was bathed in light
Chains started falling, my sentence reprieved
God looks at me and sees a worthy prize
The Lord loves all of his children the same
I’m no longer concerned about man’s eyes
Ill-conceived judgments nor secular names
The name of the Lord is a strong tower
His mighty name is worthy to be praised
I thank him for his redemptive power
For being my light on the darkest of days
In times of despair God spoke from above
Through His Word, He counseled and He advised
Keep His commandments - Keep walking in love
I am His, I am loved, and I am a prize!

This Old House

This house was part-founded by the nobles
Who counseled the monarchs of our land
Then strengthened by the Magna Carter
Signed by King Johns’ royal hand

At first its foundations were rocky
As house and monarchs just couldn’t agree
On decisions, and who had the final say
From time to time, it would end violently

As in the 17th century with civil unrest
Between the Kings’ Cavaliers and the roundheads
The house, led by Cromwell, won the war
King Charles alas, ended up dead

The clash between house and Kings ended
With the ‘Glorious Revolution’,
And the passing of ‘the Bill of Rights’
Giving rise to our Constitution

The house since then has seen changes
At the passing of each new decade,
With the Constitution amended
As each new bill has been made

Today the house has elected officials,
The peoples ‘voices’ to represent
Standing proud in the name of democracy
This old house that is our Parliament.

Premium Member The Stranger

Above the decay that feeds this ground
A Destroying Angel strode and gazed around
His carrion birds careened in flight
Above the broken, spectral sight
Of the lost, abandoned city.

An ancient prophet counseled from his mountain,
"Drink not, my son, from the tainted fountain
That flows within that city's walls.
The blood yet wet within its sunken halls
Will poison all who walk its silent streets
With whisperings and dark deceits,
From Furies there shall come no pity."

The Stranger knew, and yet he came
To deliver its Infernal name.
Its people, strong and scornful of the Fates
Missed the traitor at their gates
Who for his price let in their doom
Turned their palaces into tombs.
As yet the air sings songs of violence.

Reflected in his empty eyes
There moved above the bloodied skies
Of sunset or of dawning.
His dusty boots rang through the yawning
Desolation past the city gates
Through which Hope fled to other states
To leave behind this awful silence.

Premium Member Tiresias, the Seer

The tale now starts to fling enchant,
Let mind and heart surge piquant pun.
Seer of Greek lore strides in time lost,
Reminds of yore what foresight costs.

My eyes have seen the goddess bathe,
Spy the unseen this foolish knave.
Yet Zeus gave me sight in insight
To live more free than in the light.

Once I could see, now I am blind;
How could it be? this strange design.
I am a male cursed as female;
The telling tale forged and unveiled.

I Tiresias, blind seer and sage
Glimpsed all but fear till ripe old age.
I counseled kings who sought my gift
In sorrow's fling to tend uplift.

Wisdom can cure the ills of pain,
Yet it's allure fails my constraints.
I can give aid to those who find
Me to lift dread yet I am blind.

For seven years I was woman,
Changed to appear for offense panned;
Penance did bring a sensuous mind,
Yet bore offsprings for kin and kind.

Oedipus sought my advice then,
To ease vain naught to right attend.
Odysseus asked for a path home,
To bear the tasks, no more to roam.

Tiresias walks with blindness yet,
For poison talks in waters set.
Now in Hades, this seer of old
Strides still ready to speak so bold.

Mister Eliot did consult this gaze,
In Wasteland midst as chaos filled maze.
So you and I see spectacle
In weary sighs sans oracle.

Now tale is bought as fancy frees
That simple plot that helps us see.
Such modern times seem squalid pale
With awkward rhymes in frigid tale.

Tiresias gropes the underworld
Waiting to scope insights that swirl.
Sense new affairs that attend here,
Dense breathe of air can cloud our fears.

Premium Member A Wind Storm On My Beach

Life is a beach but not too sunny when cancer comes along.
The day it came to me, I never could imagine the obnoxious waves
that would come rolling onto the beach I so enjoyed.

With tests, surgery, eventual radiation treatments,
and with each new rolling wave of depressing information,
it plunged me deeper and deeper into despair.
Being told the lump inside my breast
was probably benign - then learning it was not.
Being told I should not need chemo - then being told
indeed, you do need chemo- you are “genetically at risk.”
Each wave was one of helplessness, uncertainty, and dread.
Turning down chemo and opting “only” for my 34 days of radiation
was not what my surgeon desired, but I am considered now a survivor,
albeit one who whose next possible encounter with a wind storm
would be that of an encounter with a tsunami.

I plant on my beach now beautiful trees with fruits' nourishment
to combat rare effects of unnecessary treatments in my storm's aftermath.
However, I thank God for the sage advice of the few professionals
who counseled me intelligently in the time of my wind storm and also
in its aftermath, and I thank God for every sunny day on my beach.

Premium Member LEGEND THAT'S COMMENDABLE THROUGH PARENTS' LEGACY

Gracious fortress of caring fortitude
Guarding by their compassion’s latitude
Governing to soar through faith’s latitude
Guiding with attitude of gratitude…
God blest our parents’ love-packed magnitude!

Daddy’s chromosomes in his fatherhood
Blended with Mama’s genes midst motherhood
Nourishing fully healthy babyhood
Toward fruitful nurture of adulthood…
Yes, we salute their faithful parenthood!

With Dad and Mom’s steadfast, sweet partnership
Around strong and endearing fellowship
We, their children did learn wise stewardship
With glad followship and joyous worship…
Creating in us servant-leadership!

Good provider always – that’s Father
Gearing housekeeping skills of Mother
Indeed complementing each other
With their home-craftmanship together…
They’re role models to me, Sis and Brother!

Along their driving mentorship force
We’re trained to enjoy our daily course
To work well, shutting slothfulness’ doors
Warned against problems brought by debt-source…
Around contentment and commitment discourse!

As masterpieces’ molders, so clear
Dad and Mom with guidance, very near
Kept us counseled midst precepts we hear
To face functionally pressure-tear…
Oh, they propelled us with righteous steer!

In their consistent life-building zest
They sought God’s instructions for what’s best
Shaping behaviour toward finest
For virtues crest, inside values’ nest…
Praying for our future, vibrantly blest!

Championing kindness against hatred’s pain
Dad and Mom let us savour pardon-gain
With forgiveness pursuit, sans guilt’s stain
Freeing our hearts from bitterness-strain…
Making our home thrive in heaven’s domain!

They’re not perfect since we saw them pout
Sometimes, their assertions made us doubt
But they never failed to reach us out
With beware cautions against wrong route…
Now, we are on right track; “Thanks so much.” We shout!

As great heroes in their own right
My parents* radiated truth’s light
Constructing sturdy legacy-height
Victorious by the Lord’s grace and might…
Along priceless name yon treasures’ delight!

*Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Living Under the Influence

It was Pentacost Sunday when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus' men
all gathered together in one place cloven tongues bestowed to them
it was a glorious sight to see everyone on one accord
now under the influence of the Holy Spirit sent by the Lord of Lords

The gift of the Holy Spirit will make a difference in your life
to be under the influence now as a true disciple of Jesus the Christ
redeeming the time that you have now full of the things God desires
to be not drunk with wine but under the influence of all He inspires

Don't get it twisted God wants us to be happy, live fully and have fun
He doesn't want us to be miserable as Christians but to live life like His Son
to always be praying, never straying from the Holy Spirit which dwells within
for as Humans we are those leaky vessels that need replenishment again and again

The gift of the Holy Spirit is that indispensable possession we need to hold in
for its under the influence of the Holy Spirit that halts from falling into sin
the Holy Spirit will convict you and let you know that if your behavior
is not of a godly nature and doesn't line up with our Savior
the Holy Spirit will convert you and change your perspective and outlook on life
the Holy Spirit will counsel you and show you how to live godly in Christ
for you to be the best witness of the Living Gospel
now under the influence knowing that nothing with God is impossible

As the world has nothing to offer you that is good, godly or right
and eventually may lead one to steal, to kill and destroy everything in sight
let the Holy Spirit correct you and guide you under its spell
let the influence of the Holy Spirit come in and kick out all the hell

To be convicted, converted, counseled, corrected
and now comforted by the power of the Holy Ghost
now a disciple, a witness, a child in Christ
living under the influence of the Lord of Hosts
living under the influence, under the influence of the Lord my God
living my life as He requires with the Holy Spirit entrenched in my heart
