Premium Member It Started with a Blank Canvas

I picked up some words,
From an over heaped pile,
Words which impressed me most.
Put them carefully onto a blank paper,
Like a practiced player placing,
Rooks and pawns on a chequered grid.

Seeing page after page getting filled
With a deluge of words, I felt thrilled,
Viewed it casually from a distance,
Like an artist looking at a painting.

I saw words become colors,
My prodigality with words impressed me.
I gloated over my ability as a writer.
Lo! A work of literature in crude form,
Stood ready, willing to be chipped and shaped.
All left was to give it a form,
A stroke here and there,
Some finishing touches!

“It’s all so damn easy,
I shall keep the thing aside,
Ample time lies ahead.
I can now relax, take a break”.
I said to myself, complacent.,

Days slipped by and months rolled away.
One day I took out the scroll,
Wiping the dust and cobwebs away.
Read through it slowly,
My former illusion just faded away.
Its stale familiarity repelled me.
Words stuck out here and there,
Making no coherent sense.
All I found was a jumbled, jotted mass.

To me, ere they looked like lovely dames,
Colorfully dressed up for a mega show.
My eyes were dazzled by their costume,
But now when I wait for them to fall in line,
Gyrating in rhythmic steps
They stand still as a disorderly mass,
Refusing to budge an inch,
Unwilling to sway to a rhyme.

Lost in a barren desert of words,
With each grain of thought
Looking so similar, lacking uniqueness,
I set aside my empty new canvas,
Which I had kept ready for re-entering.

Until the artist in me comes up
With a new configuration of colors
Let it rest in the drawer of my shelf.

Premium Member My June Jewel

I d r
  e a
   m away
from the golden-laced drapes,
tracing smoke-veiled cloudscapes,
reminiscing rainbow reveries,
raining with musical laughter,
mirroring the sun within
  my maternal spirit,
drawing cerulean smiles
across the kaleidoscopic sky
with initials of my
      beloved June child.

As in acrylics, I find happiness,
and in palettes of pastels
I feel the twilight twinkles of time,
revealing rosemary reasons to rhyme
in rhinestone radiance,
releasing runes ~
ricocheting colors
of my hibiscus heartbeat…

O kismet constellations,
I breathe glitters of gratitude
to the sapphire stars
and swirling sparks
drifting through shifting monsoons,
cradled in the
blissful sighs of my son.

For in his presence,
murky mists of melancholy
fade into neon nothingness;
in his words,
a thousand gardens glisten and glow;
in his eyes,
I see hues of hope ~
ballad of a seraphic summer.

Perhaps, the voice of this
unconditional love remains
the synonym of happiness,
the syllables of zen,
and the metaphors of euphoria,
bound to the skin ~
of rooted truth,
truth of a mother
dressed in the dulcet dews
seized from the dawn
when he learned the light of life…

So let me rephrase,
in redundant dialects,
to write in coherent cadence,
of the warmth I weave,
of the peace I paint,
within jeweled lines of lavender…

I smile not because I see no sorrow,
but because my existence
is a mere iron-arched
gateway to guide astral rays
above the island shores
where his footprints echo,
porcelain patterns,
erasing fringes from
the blemished blurs
         of grieving moonlight
caressing the sanguine sea
rippling with turquoise tranquility ~
         a tale of teal tomorrow...

Coherent Whole

You've read it correctly,
that's what the directions said directly
but
it's not some innate random homogeneous gift
that encourages and displays these internal poetic rifts,

we are somehow blessed,
betrayed, besieged, bestowed, beleaguered and bemoaned
by words, phrases, unmatched rhymed teasers enthroned
upon some grandiose display of mismatched garble
a picture, an image, a brain's ensemble, quite remarkable,

the integral, seamless agreed-upon selection
of who or what could be prisoner to our dissection,
there within the confines of heart, body, and mind
lay hidden pseudo images soft, hard, vile, and kind,

therein those coherent enigmatic systemic wholes
buried, shaped, unseen, rhythmic whispers of our souls,
the center of our individual, molded, subservient whole.

marooned maestro
floats frustrated
    with
waned creative craving
    in
sensual lyrical stream
    of
impeded passion
faces jaded
stodgy scenario
   of
monotonous mélange
   of
temporal template
   in
bleary platitude plateau
  of
consumed composer’s
blasé bearing

it seeks
  for
algorithmic arousal
  of
styled stimulation
  within
captivating cauldron
 of
coherent fecundity
  but
dismayed downright
  by
lamentable nothingness
  of
Promethean depth
lacking buoyant upwelling
  of
imagination impulse

snapped strings
  of
violin heart
don’t resonate singularity
  with
impassive articulation
  of
simulated strokes
  as
ephemeral echo morphs
  into
emotive melody
  of
congruent cadence
distorted disarrayed
  in
convoluted concerto

Premium Member Crazy Inside the Beltway

Oh, for a while it’s been crazy inside
the beltway,
no telling what insanity arises each day,
with a seemingly psychologically challenged
Prez,
for crying out loud listen to some of the
gibberish he sez!
He cares nothing for the environment,
he takes a wrecking ball to it, I’m spent.
Grocery prices can’t go down,
with our poor Earth’s global warming,
you clown.

Hey, the shutdown is hurting many
Including veteran troops,
as government workers are your target
you nincompoop.
We need to find migrant children who
disappeared,
not you worrying about suspending
late night hosts you jeered.

What’s with the bizarre hairdo,
and the orange makeup that looks
like you’re a new species in the zoo.
It’s crazy inside the beltway,
can we as a country find coherent
and thoughtful candidates, not goofs,
instead of a real life Mad magazine spoof. ~

Deep-Pressed

Hanging at the edge of depression
Since, never I've known a face of expression
A thought of a depressed overthinker
Is just like a tear in a river
  It haunts!

For they say am a fey
  What's left to, but bray?
  Nothing, did I not adore?
  But now, everything I abhor?
  It haunts!

  Left tormented in a void
  By friends who alike avoid
All I speak, quickly they chide
  Still not enough, they deride?
  It haunts!

They say am not in form
Can I? When am out of the norm?
  Always, am trying to battle
Can you? What you can't handle?
  It haunts!

Then, I was warm and did glow
Now, so cold and empty as snow
I espy only my friend nature
And conjure with rain's enemy azure
  It haunts!

This abyss a bridge to death
So dense and dark to breath
  Sucking you caressingly to drown
You ought to know, you down
  It haunts!

  When it's time to behead
  Try too to befriend
  By being coherent to understand
Only shall we start to withstand
  It haunts!

Premium Member Conflicts Void of Maturity

Ten different toes are got from two feet
hence diversity and differences are the exact definition of man
exchange of ideas has come with great heat
but modesty and maturity can compensate like a running fan
even in the face of conflict, the human mind should be kept neat
can we disagree and smile? Yes we can!

No digesting of other opinions, just swallow and eat
after by-passing deaf ears to face fury’s pan
reasoning not coherent; opposing views treated as rotten meat
anger rising, sense of humanity diminishing, all these should face a ban

Standing, raising voices, bringing shame on each other’s seat
pride holding the pipe against acceptance, ready to tan
objective discussion-the actual purpose, ends up like dead wheat
taken away to be burnt, by a forgotten van
yet another opportunity, suffering a heavy defeat
as ego and arrogance execute their deadly slogan

Premium Member Our Own Little Oasis

Aww love sweet love, is there anything finer
Than to snuggle and cuddle and coo
No need to be coherent or form real words
Your moaning will create the mood

You really could be quoting last night's results
Of the latest big-time sports events
Could even be reporting on a horrendous fire
Or a country impeaching a president

In the midst of each torrid lovemaking session
All else becomes actually secondary
Until that big moment, that moment so sublime
And it ends up as anything but ordinary

Now this is reality, have I kidded you before
When it comes right down to the basics
Everything's about satisfying our personal pleasures
And creating our own little oasis

Borrowed words prayers and time

Borrowed Words, Prayers, and Time

The dissociative tendencies
started far before first tragedy.
When my heart beat ceased
I began to vibrate on a different…
Frequency.
I’ve died before, but nothing like this.
You’d think it would be the last.
When my consciousness began to lift
I watch from above and below,
My body slowly convulse .
But the colors…
Pulsing, swimming, gliding through the room. Filling every space but never crowded.
Everything went quiet,
Calm and consistent.
Seamlessly coexisting.
And there was plenty of room for me
There weren’t many thoughts. No flashbacks. No memories.
Just me and the energies. The entities?
Maybe it was every junkie here before me?
I always thought of my mind as a place of chaos.
though I heard no sound, the static was palpable in every atom of my being.
And I begin to surrender.
“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure”
But this can't be it.
‘Goddess why now?’ I ask her.
The only coherent thought I had that didn’t come in the form of a feeling.
But I knew why.
And maybe it was that.
Or just was pure luck,
Or the narcan and shock pads,
Or cute EMT who really fought.
Fought for me have a yet another chance.
A Chance at amends..
A Chance to choose me!
A chance to clean up in more ways than one.
I’m not even close to done!
I still have so much healing,
So much progress,
Suppressed feelings,
Subconscious trauma.
I’m not who I’m supposed to be yet.
I know that for a fact.
“You don’t have nine lives princess, you’re not a fuxking cat”
I know mom, I use humor to cope
I’m immortal silly!
Long as I stay away from dope.
