Don'T Get Me Started On Milk

So is it just me or is toast weird
bare with me so
bakers train for years
To produce these
beautiful pillow bouncy castles of air caves
surrounded by mouth crumbling battlements
crusts that disintegrate at a tremble
they learn to knead and squeeze and shape
they have timings calculated
and portioned preparations
each grain of accounted salt well grain
Through clear logos
its ribbed edges
flex
So we take these baskets of art
Take them home
and sinisterly cut them in
coffin oblongs
and place them=wait for it in
machines that will burn them
until like slightly corroded
stone tablets
we have made them crunchy
wait too crunchy
lets slather them in gold drips sun bloomed fat drops

how many times have you had a toastie
which is only toasted on one side maybe
we should call it a Toa lets call it a tie
which toast came first
the bread or the raising of the wine

and why do we always cut it smaller
people you cant live with them
but you can hide within them
and wait for them all to die

now
they say that we clink glasses
because if your enemy has poisoned your drink
any foamy overspill
it will poison them
friends so easily turn to fiends

that softly hue of amber embers
dripping with oil slick sunbeam strokes of summer
bye
going to make some weird toast

"Alpha Mnemonic"

without the image
no word

Language
a disease
communicable
by mouth

Alpha from brain
Omega passed
on her tongue
to yours

Ancient codex
genetically kissed
dispersed with
music intonation

gutteral
romantic
cerebral
never rehearsed

language
a virus formed
Mnemonic
from where exactly,

Within?

ad lib
ad lucem
ad libitum

from somewhere
other birthed
codex ancient
Alpha alien

genetic
hive driven
we are observed
writhing in our smalls

amphibian brained
we are still
loud embryos
clashing and clinging

unjust
we are

just learning exotic
movements
within our
blue pitri plate

circular in motion
we are agitated
not calm, chasing long versed
pre-recorded, re-rehearsed tales

a breath blown over us
language divides us
in love and belief
a disease

we are
we think
we speak
we spread

our languages

communicable
by eyes that
envision dreams
of others within

we are not knowing
with clandestined
futures and
over-ripe mouths

to succour
we simulate

ad lib
ad lucem
ad libitum

sensual
cold
science
hot and feverish

we lie
in bed
with irreverent
romantic fate

Omega
ohm resistant
high voltage
across the conductor

Always equal
Metaphors of unity
become
the Sequel

Blissfully ignorant

Ripe Red currents
juiced up and
Blue buries itself
warm palmed
on a soft beating breast

Ideology and
Romance
arrive
late

Memory
lost in the
Alpha
Mnemonic

Stuck in
the warm
and sticky
we grow cold

Premium Member Snow Globe Refreshment

Presenting to the emergency room, patient "BB,"
a dad who swallowed a snow globe carelessly.

Out of ALC, voices crying, "YOLO,"
PO, he took a big gulp of fantasy snow.

NAGI, his stomach churned immediately.
He could hear little elves dancing with a BEG.

Brought to the ER unconscious with HBP,
HAGMA, and tachypnea, unfortunately.

A CT scan revealed a kidney infection.
MDs dispensed an antibiotic injection.

Dialysis was administered, but he was still KO.
His kidney's were decorated in crystals of "snow."

Ten WKs later he could walk again (to the bar),
but will likely need dialysis 4EVR.

You are what you eat, (BB made a recovery)
but don't be a snowflake, the moral of the story.

(Watch the attached video for the full story.)

ALC- alcohol
YOLO- you only live once
PO- by mouth
NAGI- not a good idea
BEG- big evil grin
ER- emergency room
HBP- high blood pressure
HAGMA- high anion gap metabolic acidosis
CT- computerized tomography
MD- medical doctors
KO- knocked out
WK- week
4EVER- forever

Plink. Plink.

Drip...
follows drop,
follows drip,
follows drop.

Plink. Plink.

Resolutely, incessantly,
each precious globule
snakes, languidly, along
labyrinthine tunnel.

Plink. Plink.

Seemingly-innocuous fluid
conveys crucial content
and necessary nourishment:
sole source of sustenance.

Plink. Plink.

Life-affirming droplets
are welcomed, eagerly, into
damaged vessel's system.

Plink. Plink.

Naught but air to pass lips,
"NBM" had been decreed.

Plink. Plink.

Temporarily,
    but indelibly,
        branded.

Plink. Plink.

COMMONPLACE V
A feeling od desperation,fleeting impressions
a never ending quest susceptible to misfortune
sounds hanging in the air akin to a
tempest conspire to frustrate.The ignited
by the most mundanr, ideas appear in
the mind,intangible,seemingly from
nowhere.A phoenix risen from the
ashes brings to light the oral to the
aural, adds value by mouth to ear.
Surreal ,perhaps romantic,a feeling
of contentment of being there at
the point of soft promise,of this
I never tire.This struggle,truth filled
by words mortality living in verse
to radiate into the reader’s eye& ear.

drowning by swimming

Far above your conscious, a bird beats its own wings,
on its own way,
to its own destination.

A sharp gust slices the air—still not catching you in its breeze,
but it’s enough to cool to the bird,
and release a feather.

It drifts down, falling mile by mile,
traveling mouth by mouth,
assumption by assumption
to your lake.

It’s a nice lake. Man-made.
It only goes so deep, so wide, so long,
and so do you.

The feather shatters the azure surface,
in doing so it glides just ever so slightly, below beneath you’re peace of mind.

Then you’re flooding because you can’t contain yourself,
and you’re chocking and clocking me,
waves rocking the shore,
feather floating above still.

Premium Member How Poetry Began

Two brain cells walked into a bar
one disagreed with what the other said
but both agreed he could say it.

One said: “What if you said it like this?”
and they argued the value of words,
those that were spoken, those that were heard.

Into the fray marched a whole brain of grey
asking: “What makes you say the things that you say?”
and “Why when you say them, do you say them that way?”

Then came the head with the eyes and the chin
said “I dare you to say the whole thing again.”
“I doubt that you could, not that you would.”

And so the two brain cells, over pizza and beer
repeated the sounds in an effort to hear
the pounding of hoof beats, the shriek in the night

the sound of the words giving emptiness sight.
Then they consorted with the head and the brain
comparing conclusions though none were the same

the hoof beats to rescue or battles retreat
or maybe the sound of a child’s dancing feet.
Was the shriek one of fear, or a mother’s surprise

the first time she gazed into babies blue eyes.
They agreed to the meaning of the words that were read
but couldn’t agree - what was heard, what was said.

Time would continue, the battle would rage
should the words be delivered by mouth or by page
could the speaker be brilliant, the audience dense

the reader confused, the words make no sense.
The bar is still open, though the patrons don’t know it
to honor the memory of the two brain-celled poet.

Sacred communion,
taken in by mouth
and nose
and ear
and eye
and touch,
compassionately felt in community,

Becomes left-brain anxious about competitive totalitarian communism
while right-brain celebrating cooperative win/win Green Commons
of ancient reproductive health,
bilaterally twinned,
binomially intertwined,
bicamerally belonging

Yet longing not to become entirely ego-absorbed
without remaining cherished interdependent identity,

Part yet whole;
Whole yet apart
holonic
holy
whole Earth polypathic
polyphonic
polyculturally communal,

Left secularly invincible
either/or powers of resilient thinking
with sacred resonant Right
both cognitive and emotive
pre-visibly invisible,
pre-auditory pregnant silence.

Transparent wombing flexibility
mixed with absorbing love,
together breeding Integrity

Coming of age,
Going of non-change

Viral spirals
downward viciously viscous
and upward
virtuously visionary,

Outwardly
inward,
anxiously
ubiquitous,
competitively
cooperative.

Identity discovered through relationship,
nutrition recovered through nurturing nature,
culture uncovered through history,
theology covered through ecology,

Transcendent revolution through immanent evolution,
communal experience through communication,
secular thoughts through sacred apparitions,
motions through emotions,

Here through now,
Space through time,
Community through communion.

Early Autumn.
Lazy Sunday morning.
Coffee cooling.
Reading poetry, writing pooretry.
Viewing artworks, editing photographs.
Eggs and crumbcake, long since
consumed.
Forgot by mind, by mouth
though not by belly.

Hawks foreground the
white puffery in the North sky,
circling.
Perhaps challenged by a corvid.
Something black seems to dislike its circling.
It’s presence.
    It’s self.

The birch showers in newly not-green and softly serrated
leafery.

Dropping into cappuccino.
Into coffee.
Onto keyboard and camera.
Into hair.
Upon the unused chair.
There, beside us.

A carpet to inspire the sole
of the barefeet we eat in.
We ate in.

The rustle seems to murmur something
about the season.
    The ages.
            The world.

The hawks cry out.
Continually.
                                                Distant.
They could be anywhere.
They are just there far over there
but
could be anywhere.
To place the call of a hawk is no
small thing.
To resolve them in the bluevast
no easier, true.

The leaves, seem to tire of the sky
and fall,
seemingly mostly,
on her.

She leaves them where they be.
A forest come home to its
Hera.

Premium Member Hero: The Pond

Beside the pond, they stand in fright
of what the neighbors brought to light,
in fear of what they now will find;
dark woeful thoughts in every mind.

Fire engine speeds to the park site.
Beside the pond, they stand in fright.
Without a thought, he dives right in
the murky depth- search to begin.

Then up he comes- small boy in arms.
At first, this calms their tense alarms.
Beside the pond, they stand in fright-
his lifeless body- now in sight.

He pumps his heart with hopeful hands;
gives air by mouth, to breathe demands!
He tried his best to win this fight-
beside the pond, they stand in fright.
