Good Old Time of Inflation In Brazil

We in Brazil we were from time
   of instantaneous inflation... !
   Prices varied by minutes...
   We would "steeplechase" inside
   of the markets, chasing
of the price remarker and its
   machine...!
   We had to run faster
than everyone to reach to the cashier
with the price without further readjustment...
   The morning we received
   the salary, we were "rich"...
30 million cruzeiros in my pocket....
In the morning we could buy
2 shopping purchases, 2 pairs of shoes, and 2
pants and 2 shirts... in the afternoon everything
half... ! the other day, well
another day, it was already agony...!

Premium Member Sea Turtle Point of View

Coral reefs are dangerous some entities say
Not to me maybe because I know of no other way
The corals are gorgeous, but can hurt your toes
I swim through these reefs loving their glows.

I am comfortable in these waters so deep
Predators are about, but I know where to sleep.
I love the beautiful waters of the South American sea.
If you want to experience life, come and visit me.

The colors will be so dazzling, they will hurt your eyes.
You will have to wear goggles, no big surprise
I am eagerly waiting to introduce you to my kind of sea.
Just book a flight to Brazil and come follow me.

Not Always True

May England be
     a enormous ship called:
     "Queen of the Seas"
      And that doesn't sink ...!

        May Portugal be
      a grand winery
      in Lisbon or Funchal,
      live on wine and
       Codfish...

No ... it is not true that Italy is, just and only ... Pizza, a boot and a
     crooked tower ...!

     Brazil, Brazil ...
     It's not coffee, and football
     nor wonder beans ...
It is not true that It is
     only that ...
It is not just corruption ...
     Only actions, and ...
     and gasps ... Petrol and
     soya ... also
      water and car wash ...
But, O mother, you are further ...
You are a manly homeland ... and
     your son doesn't run away

     fight ...just fight BRAZIL ...!

Premium Member A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To My Hanging -Part Deux

Dedicated to a fine poet on soup, Lin Lane
-------------------------------------------------

I shook hands with my brother and bade him farewell
Then set off on my journey away from this hell
Mexico I’d head for and buy a small farm
Meanwhile back in town the guards raised the alarm.

A posse they assembled to help track me down
But saw some Apaches and hightailed it back to town
It was far from over, the Pinkertons were brought in
Determined they were, to carry out the hanging.

After three days riding my horse became lame
It slowed down my escape that made me fair game
Sold my horse at Santa Fe and boarded a train
Vowed I’d never come back to America again.

Two whole years went by and I was living free
Thought they’ve given up now, they’ll never find me
Bought a farm, met a girl, a beautiful senorita
Had two children both girls, Anna and Conchita.

One day I went to town to buy some supplies
The Pinkertons were there, I couldn’t believe my eyes
They arrested me at gunpoint and they took me to jail
I strongly protested my innocence but to no avail.

Spent a week in the jail while they sorted deportation
Paperwork completed, headed for the railroad station
After a long journey we arrived back in Colorado
They had the noose ready, they were raring to go.

All over the state the news was all about me
The Pinkertons just loved their new found glory
The night before the hanging I heard guns blazing
What happened after that was truly amazing.

About a hundred desperado's invaded the town
Burst into the jail and told me to lie down
The sound was deafening as they shot at the lock
The Pinkertons stood speechless, they were in shock.

I went out into the street and a voice said to me
“We only found out because of the publicity”
Then out of the shadows came a face I knew well
My twin brother once more had rescued me from hell.

He said “join our gang and we’ll ride far away”
I said “crimes not for me and one day you’ll pay”
Rode back to Mexico to round up my family
Then headed to Brazil where I now live and I’m free.

Lin suggested a part deux so I was inspired to write a sequel, thanks Lin.

Adroit

11/29/20

Working toward forgiveness
With god as my witness
An occasional grimace
So much more than a scrimmage
And beyond what I ever envisioned
Helps to stay ambitious
Even when it seems so far off in the distance

Minding my business, hardly looking
No being pampered, for myself and others I'm cooking
Towards the end, I'm booking

I Keep pushing
Maintaining footing
Working on turning it into a good thing

My heart is really in this
I can still win it
So long as I never stop until the finish
Otherwise my chances will diminish

What the foik
You keep on talking shoit
And I will prove my point
By being adroit
From here to way beyond Detroit

All crap
B.S. is what I call that
Ya'll better fall back

And chill
Before it gets ill
On either side of the hill
You think you do, but you don't got the skill
To get the job done like I will
I'm coming in for the kill
Not for the thrill
Never going to get my fill
I'm still
With it, you don't know the drill
Blood continues to spill
Over money in the form of a bill
Anywhere, not just in Brazil
People act like they know a lot, when they really know nil

Now and Then In 2017

Now and Then in 2017©

There was a time when I was younger
That there was this constant hunger

Time has passed and the years have flown by
Sometimes joy and laughter, sometimes a good cry

Vows kept under the stars we met
A grandson that keeps me young without regret

Where once I had a great left hook
I now rely on Facebook

I could compete at a track meet
What I do now is Tweet from my seat

In lieu of at the rink with my team
I’m Linked In to the latest dream

Before, at the diamond with a bat
After, I share the world with Snap Chat

Amazon was a great river in Brazil
Now an eCommerce site with a bill

Past, hanging out at the mall looking for chicks
Present, replaced by watching Netflix pics

It used to be four on the floor
Instead my best friend is an I Phone more

Many hours once spent polishing chrome
Replaced by Google Chrome in your home

Parallel parking used to be a real pain
My car parks by itself again and again

At the pumps no more
The car is electric and less a chore

I find myself often saying
Is there an “app” for that, and then playing

In conclusion I have no dilution of days gone by
The days of yore are long gone and I’m on standby

To give it all a try

Premium Member Thank You

Whether you are in Osaka or Tokyo,
the right thing to say is “arrigato”.
If you ever get stuck in Moscow,
“spassiba” will help you out somehow.
When you are in Mumbai or Hyderabad,
you can always say “dhanyavaad”
In Turkey along the Eurasian rim,
getting by is easy with “teshekkur ederim”
In Bonn or Berlin, in order to gain,
you can always do it with “danke schoen”.
If you are in Paris or Montreal,
just saying “merci” is saying it all.
When you are in Madrid or Caracas,
gratefulness is expressed as “muchas gracias”
If you are in either North or South Korea,
you can make friends by saying “komapsumnida”.
If you have a rather steep climb in Brazil,
“obrigado” will get you over the hill.
Wherever you go in the world today,
just remember that “thank you” is the thing to say.
