Premium Member Twinkle Gets New Wings

November Twinkle fairy was feeling very low,
to the Giggle Night Ball she had wanted to go

But her gold fairy wings were all tattered and torn -
she’d landed in a thicket, they’d caught on a thorn

And she got into a tizzy to escape from the bush,
when she cried out for help fairies came in a rush

Twinkle was so upset, she’d had her wings for years
no amount of tissues could stem her flow of tears

Her mother said Twinkle ‘please listen to me,
you’ll grow some new wings, just wait patiently’

‘Use this special lotion and rub in some fairy dust,
for the magic to work, you must stand still - you must!

Twinkle looked in the mirror, her back was quite bare -
her old wings had vanished, she was all too aware

All of a sudden her back got a terrible itch,
as her body contorted she began to twitch

Magic dust filled the air, new wings started to sprout,
it took nine nano seconds for her wings to spread out

Twinkle stood motionless until her new wings had dried,
they glistened like dew drops, she beamed with such pride

With her dazzling new wings she was the belle of the ball
and she spread rainbow dust as she flew round the hall

Used to be we'd pay to see freaks on the carnival way.
Now, for free at the mall we can see some most every day!
Kids (and adults) with tattoos, purple hair, nose and eyebrow rings,
Navel rings, tongue studs and other self-mutilating things!

Now, of course, we didn't do such things six decades ago!
Our parents would have disowned us - besides we had no dough!
Sure, guys wore zoot suits with baggy pants and chain.
I just can't comprehend today's modes, they seem so arcane!

Gals wore battered saddle shoes and one of Dad's old shirts,
With tails flapping in the breeze over their poodle skirts!
They wore bras (or so I'm told), hair coiffured with bangs,
They didn't bare their navels and hang out with rowdy gangs!

It's hard to discern who is who when viewing them from the aft.
Two long-haired kids, holding hands, and acting rather daft!
Is it the "he" on the right or is "he" the one on the left?
It's none of my concern, tho' it does leave my curiosity bereft!

I suppose it's all the rage to let the kids do their thing,
While they're young and carefree, let them have their fling.
I'll roll my eyes and shake my head, looking on aghast,
Wondering what's next after these current fads have passed!

Premium Member Empty Spaces

Where you used to live is now empty
loneliness is beyond a lack of oxygen
your scent lingers as candles ~
a blend of spice and sweetness
you bestow steady impetus day or night...

Chart a course in seas of vagueness,
a murky future, a hazy doubt
I wish time could be reversed

An empty bed fills my empty room,
sorrowful reins, uneasy mind
no rainbow, no colors, just a grey sky...
everything is made out of stone,
upon walls dressed in cobwebs!!

Memories we vowed would last,
vanished in a blink of an eye

This bare space in my heart,
in which you used to live
flooded with sorrow ~

How much I miss and adore you
how you've beautified my world!

Circled In Red

The young Marine had just arrived
To bare Nam’s burdens, there deprived
He’ll count each day one by one,
Until the day his duty’s done.

He’ll proudly walk along destiny’s path
A solemn prayer to protect from wrath
And though his life there defined,
His worries are of home sublime.

No mirthful days before each dawn
His joyous day long since gone
And dare he dream of such days
Emerged dusk the enemy’s gaze.

Upon his shoulders Freedom hung
In his hands a trusted gun.
Honor, duty commitment The Corps demand
Against his good name nothing stands.

For upon his first day he could tell
“Thirteen months of living hell.
On the calendar circled in Red
A rotate day if he’s not dead.

His honor withstood the gruesome test
For on those paths the taste of death
There upon the hallowed ground
His joyful days no longer found.

Onwards Men,Victory

Onwards men
Let us succumb

Like a lion with its pride
We shall certainly play our prey

Off we March
Into the fray

Hold your rifles to your heart
Squeeze and muzzle out your fears

Hold the line
Let's reunite

Release the gas of integrity
Let our quarry   bleed in peace

Out from no-mans land to the Isle of doom
The Pen will prevail us lasting victory

Onwards men
Let us succumb

Such are swarm of locusta
We'll devour to all ends

Down we go
Cradle your Spears

Invoke the senses of your being
Crush, destroy no confessing defeat

Out beyond  the missiles range through the cordoned plane
We Hum a hymn, our salvations whistle

Onwards men
Round up the troops

Sound the cymbal and it's tears
We shall taunt our ears with courage

Drop those shields
Vibrate your throats

Far and wide we'll spread these tales
Historical legends they'll bathe in our eminence

Far to the darkest dreads into the deepest trenches
We'll bare the boast and eternal throngs of peace

For which must be
Repaid

See I Know I ain't been perfect
I have faults to
Those times I spent with
Others

Premium Member The Haunted House

It sits well back away from the road hidden by bushes and trees.
Even the lane that leads from the gate seems colder than late Fall's breeze.
The grounds are vast and overgrown, the house is weathered, bare.
It used to be a grand estate, now no one seems to care.

The wind blows 'round the house's eaves giving a mournful cry.
Some say it sounds like a long lost soul who in this house did die.
There is a rumor in the town of things that happened here.
Most folks say the tales are true and shun the place in fear;

So it's a good place to settle down if you wish to be left alone.
Far enough out in the woods where we will feel at home.
We can prowl and we can hunt to our heart's content,
And we won't have to worry 'bout what they think of our intent.

Reflections of a Sour Drop - SK

A white tear bled from the foil seam,
a cold, lactic rot sliding down her woven leather heel,
drawing a pale, sour map across her instep.
I watched the porcelain skin of her shoe drink the milk,
and in that quiet curdling, my entire small frame snapped.

A choir of jagged iron shrieked beneath my skull,
tearing through the bone and behind my eyes:
a ruined child deserves no sun.

I did not wait for any reflex.
I dragged myself by the throat,
spat curses into my own ears,
and ran.

I bolted past the garden gate,
past the tall, unbothered grass,
my bare feet slapping the dirt in a rhythm of
self - contempt and fault.

In the damp dark behind the compost heap,
I pressed my face into the stinging nettles,
scraping my knees against the jagged limestone,
offering my own raw, bleeding shins to the air
to pay the debt for what I had done

praying the earth would swallow the wretched thing I was.

Distressed Village, Lamenting Nature

Hamlet developed in stillness, stillness torn by warfare,
Warfare ricochets through jungles, jungles drop their brilliance,
Brilliance once lit the skies, skies now propagate blur,
Blur cries hangout the basin, basin bewails inside.

Inside the aggrieved acreage, acreage naked of its emerald,
Emerald fields turned to debris, debris wound the prospect,
Prospect of broken streams, streams dry and bare,
Bare mounts stand as spectators, spectators of desolation.

Desolation mists the firmament, firmament once peaceful and azure,
Azure dreams now are devastated, devastated hopes fictitious,
Fictitious peace feels gone, gone by the fire,
Fire of unending animosity, animosity leaves its tag.

Tag engraved in regret, regret pigments the terrain,
Terrain longs for rebirth, rebirth seeks renaissance,
Renaissance of mild restoration, restoration calls for nimble,
Nimble shall patch the village, village recovers its picture.

Poem by Mugisho N. T

Life Beneath the Skin

It begins with a touch of despair
Traveling solemnly... quietly
Aspiring he who do not care
Hiding, anxiously awaiting silently

He is blind
He cannot know
No one draws the line
The world simply flows

He ask for a touch
But he cannot feel... inside
Living is too much
Will dying have a guide?

He hear whispers whispering
Thoughts to never be
There is life beneath the skin
No one can ever see

“As I close my eyes... I imagine
Living a life... living a dream
It wasn’t easy, neither was it hard
Simply a no one asking what....
Voices, I hear... they speak
Choices I fear... I’m weak
Yet... I’m unable to convey what I’ve heard
Whence given the choice to choose words
To only say... to only listen
Oneself in total synnnification
Will I listen?
I’m just as broken?

It begins... with without a care
Quietly...
Beneath every skin laying bare
Silently
