Empty Spaces

Where you used to live is now empty loneliness is beyond a lack of oxygen  your scent lingers as candles ~ a blend of spice and sweetness you bestow steady impetus day or night...   Chart a course in seas of vagueness, a murky future, a hazy doubt I wish time could be reversed An empty bed fills my empty room, sorrowful reins, uneasy mind no rainbow, no colors, just a grey sky... everything is made out of stone, upon walls dressed in cobwebs!! Memories we vowed would last, vanished in a blink of an eye This bare space in my heart, in which you used to live flooded with sorrow ~ How much I miss and adore you how you've beautified my world!

When we lose a dear one or is separated from someone close, through death or absence, we feel plunged into loneliness. From the poem, your sense of emptiness is clearly discernible. Everything is empty including your heart in which she once reigned as queen. A very touching poem on the emptiness created by a dear one's absence. Congratulations on your win, dear friend.

Dear Sotto, your impassioned pen burns with sizzling sorrow upon the poetic page. The heartache of your verse is palpable, the loss, like a choking sensation as "loneliness is beyond a lack of oxygen" - wow! Such great sensory imagery! A potent, expressive piece on "empty spaces"; the empty room, the empty bed, your heart empty but for the sorrow that floods it! A deep, rich, emotional piece.. simply superb! Congratulations for your win in Craig's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

SP, this expression of grief and sorrow does it with a lot of passion. This makes me want to know more about the person who is missing. It makes me think that there is no time like the present for whatever we need to do...before it's too late for sure.

Hello Sotto, what an exquisite expression of heartache my friend. In me it truly evoked an overwhelming sense of absence and loss which many can relate to. I especially enjoyed the closing lament of missing the one who brought such light into your life. A really wonderful write with such deep emotions. Blessings, My Friend. Daniel

I can feel the yearning, the need and it is always a good feeling to embrace. When things don't go as we envision them, it hurts because that's all we've ever wanted but we sometimes need to come to terms with the harsh truth and find a better solace or at least create one. "Memories we vowed would last, vanished in a blink of an eye." Life happens and I hate when it does.
