Heave Ho! Aweigh, the ship’s anchor,
Lads, climb-up, the tall ship’s masts!
Unfurl the sails white billowed,
all pray, the stiff trade winds blast!
Men briny from white-capped oceans,
Terra firma’s, a distant quest.
Feel the salt spray, stinging the faces,
of the ship’s crew, tossed fore and aft.
We’re compelled to sail the oceans an’ seas,
with a plumb compass an’ a ration’s tack.
Tattoos an’ a gypsy squeeze-box melody,
the gale blows on our ruddy backs.
All hands scramble, to assemble on deck,
for the Captain rings-hard a muster.
Churning waves in our rudder’s wake,
luminous, with a strange glowing luster.
Land Ho! A calm, deep harbor,
a smoke filled pub an’ a bonny lass.
But the sea’s, our only steadfast lover,
an’ she beckons, to call us back.
We stand proud to call ourselves - mariners,
Men without fear, we tame the high seas.
Bright stars as our comforting beacons,
fair weather with God’s given speed.
By moon beams an’ dawn’s faint daylight,
we’ll turn our ship’s namesake back.
Heave Ho! Aweigh, the ship’s anchor,
Lads, climb-up, the tall ship’s masts!
Anchors Aweigh...

At sea since time immemorial
I relish being alone
upon oceanic expanse
yours truly doth bemoan
me gal Sal (one among
numerous female confidantes),
no matter, she easily
mistaken as a crone
magical powers keep
her manning far aloft drone
as surveillance hovers above me
(to intercept encrypted
communication maintained
courtesy bluetooth earphone)
the two of us sol survivors
I feel like a foreigner since
global thermonuclear war
bombed webbed wide world
into pulverized power
vaguely similar landscape
to age of Fred Flintstone
and Barney Rubble
recurring memories redolent
of yesteryear, whereby I groan
though simple living
such as me and the missus
did Potschke coaxing homegrown
organic fruits and vegetables,
though, I attest we did
get violently angry with each other
and unwittingly cross interzone
where brickbats exchanged,
especially after she discovered
an illicit extramarital affair
between myself and Joan
since kindergarten her I known.
Weather beaten cap'n,
and watertight bewitched craft
time tested since maiden voyage
(circumnavigating the globe
back in the day of my youth),
I ranked tough as a pitbull,
when severely pitted
against raw elements
of swiftly tailored,
harried stylish nature
against leathery faced
reptilian skin, hard drinking
(actually as corked
poetic convenience - vermouth
arbitrary bottle of choice
if for no other reason,
than to rhyme
with the above line),
and tobacco spitting, while
colorfully swearing as an uncouth
Furies (of Agamemnon)
fighting (tooth
and nail) Pirate,
where rickets, scurvy,
and thrice unconscious,
currently ample proof
could not forsooth
bring me to Davy Jones's locker,
cuz I never wanna
get relegated to an underwater
whale schooled booth,
this raconteur can nonchalantly,
glibly, and blithely attest,
with braggadocio, despite
no warm welcome will
ever greet mine tinnitus
pained ears, I can plainly
imagine acrimonious retort
upon me behest
his far more'n lifetime
bobbing (like a sponge)
square pants float
buoyed atop crest longing e'en for
(carping, caviling, hen pecking,
or shrewish) wife.
There is a reality in mortality
That eats away your soul
As life slowly passes I get the urge
To feel those high seas roll
Taste the salt on my tongue
Just like when I was young
Hear the boatswain call anchor’s aweigh
Set my own pace
With the wind in my face
See the sunrise come over the bay
One more time let me be
On a white dog at sea
Feel the waves crashing on her port side
One more time for a while
On an uncharted isle
Watching the evening tide
Set my sails once more
For that far distant shore
Make love on a secluded beach
One more time may I go
Where the harbor lights glow
Paradise within my reach
Admiral Farragut sailed into Mobile Bay with his reluctant crew!
The bay was strewn with tons of torpedoes and apprehension grew!
"Sail on! Sail on!, ye mighty Hartford ship!" was Farragut's battle cry!
"We'll blast them Rebel ships to 'ell! Men, 'tis yer duty to do er die!"
'Twas then he uttered those immortal words that'll live forever and a day:
"Damn the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!" - and with that it was 'anchors aweigh'!
Tars fearing for their souls exclaimed, "That's easy fer that ol' poop to say!"
But with clenched teeth they dashed ahead and won the Battle of Mobile Bay!

will experience glee

fraternity, harmony, jollity, levity,

wishing no ill will toward
former forty sixth president.
The eye-to-eye association flick life away.
Pretty natural tones ring out in my flyway
Light, invisible hands bait me to the clay.
It's excessively captivating of a grasp to assay.
Blissful lyrics led me to find my way to an archway.
I heard a sublime newly birth beat straightaway.
This soft, serene sparkle enlightens my allay.
Light stream is drawing me closer, yet I'm splay.
Bright rays awe me as I convey a lovely hallway.
My body, then again, lies on the chilly, acrid clay.
It feels incredible to be released of such a weigh
I was bare and defenseless, alike a newborn aweigh.
Steady heartbeats draw me near my doorway.
Once I hand up control to virtue, I can utterly inlay
Still, I'm alive, and I enjoyed doing it anyway.
I can't ponder anything when I stare at the Milky Way.
A dyed eye-to-eye correlation feature is held at bay.
Why should we fear death? Because of doomsday.
All were created by God, the sole crucial soothsay.
We are all born to die, thus is no need to yell or dismay.

Noah welcomed his passengers aboard the ark two-by-twos,
For a trip ordained by God, a hundred and fifty day cruise.
It rained steadily for forty miserable days and nights.
The waters of the deep lifted them to towering heights!
His manifest listed an assortment of strange bedfellow,
Ever whining with a din of roars, screeches and bellows!
No one was pleased with their meager accommodations.
The captain's purser was pressed to quell all frustrations!
Elrod the elephant wanted a stall upgrade ere the trip had begun.
Brian the lion was always on the prowl, snapping at everyone.
Gus the hippopotamus complained about the poor cuisine.
Mr and Mrs Wildebeest were bored with the whole routine!
Lena the hyena annoyed all with her constant, raucous laugh.
Low ceilings and doorways irritated Mr and Mrs Giraffe.
Amanda the panda was agitated about the quality of bamboo.
And hopping mad about everything was Mister Kangaroo!
The six-hundred year old Noah handled things with great aplomb,
Meeting all challenges with great restraint and calm.
He would be well-qualified to command a cruise ship today.
Two-legged critters he could soothe ere he said, "Anchors aweigh!"

==================================
At last I have been cast away...
You've set your sight on newer shore.
My sail's right at half mast today
and there might stay forever more
Though in the past you shone for me,
at last I have been cast away...
Lost in the dark, alone at sea,
tossed like a stone into the bay
You promised you would not betray
but I was made to walk the plank.
At last I have been cast away,
while you take shade upon the bank
So now the anchor that you drew
you think you took too fast aweigh...
Go sink your hook in someone new,
at last. I have been. - Cast away!

Written April 10, 2015, using homophones from various lists.
Note: I did not use letters, for example, U for “you” ; they were not on the lists I found.
Neither was “hee” which I was going to use for “he.”
The main list used was The HOMOPHONES LIST of John F Troutman and Joy A Miller
* these are a few more homophones I found on Wikipedia’s list.
** these homophones appear on Homophones.com, perhaps the most comprehensive one.

A conch shell idles
on a serendipitous shoreline
a nearby sea furthers
as an ebbing tide yields its hold
a sudden breath
of mountain freshness
swoops through the meadowlands
then out to sea
merely ere it brushes
a fortuitous shore
indulging its way about a conch shell
breathing a chord
of harmonic bellows
in suite succession
of a favorable staging
a retiring star
aweigh to setting
yon receptive horizons
