Having been brought up in the country
we had a dog, cats, and hut full of hens
my job was collecting eggs each day
not realizing these hens would be friends
The first thing I tried to make
would you believe was scrambled egg
on my first few tries cooked a flop
but practise helped to gain an extra leg
Through the years I've enjoyed eggs
whether fried, poached or an omelette
but scrambled has always come out top
my mum's version left me in her debt
My favourite scrambled is nicely firm
don't like them when soft and runny
at early morn like an Americano
with scrambled egg roll, I would affirm
So that sums up my favourite egg
these hens produce a great feed
think of the effort they give to this
three cheers deserved we all agreed!
( I was thinking the other night ' how do I like my eggs?' so this is the result of my thoughts upon this question.)
There’s starvation in Africa,
In other parts there’s drought,
Putin’s still in the Ukraine
Throwing his weight about.
The Barista in this cafe
Is really annoyed with me.
I’ve ordered a black coffee,
Apparently that’s not PC.
Global temperatures rising,
Polar ice is melting down
America has a President
Behaving like a clown.
I can have coffee without milk
Or a thing called Americano
But by the look on his face
He’d much rather I just go.
Just across the road
A lad was killed with a knife,
A bloke got seven years
For battening his wife.
I’m the despair of a Barista
And others such of his ilk.
I asked a simple question.
What colour’s coffee without milk?
North Korea’s still being bolshie,
China’s threatening Taiwan.
Half the country’s under water,
Way over there in Pakistan.
In Hull I’m causing trouble
By not being sufficiently PC.
To ease an awkward situation
I ordered a pot of tea.
A school of whales beached in Florida
A few more species went extinct
And, here, honours being even,
They at last served me a drink.
Coffee's been a favorite for me
most of my life wherever I've been
in the majority of that time
white with sugar sweet since eighteen
Now you've such a range of coffee
Vanilla, Cappuccino, Latte or black
it really gets to confusing state
for so many on the coffee rack
Now in recent months stopped sugar
so now love Americano ever so much
just add little hot milk to taste
for me superb with special touch
Love to have something to eat
along with my coffee real strong
fruit scone and jam is so good
with that pair you can't go wrong
So on my way to coffee shop
to get my favorite Americano
such a taste really so smooth
down it goes just nice and slow!
windows
A cafe table by the front for light
people outside stop and talk, I catch bites
of their plans, their issues and moods, despite
the glass, and the curfuffle of indoor café life.
I’m having an Americano glacé
my preferred ‘pause-café’ focused break
a frosty iced-coffee sweet and sugary-brown
while this girl outside is having a full freakdown
I watch life’s tableau of complexity
through a café window, like a front row seat
Oh, the chaos I’m shown from my unobserved repose
“Ooo! the chocolat croissants, I’ll have one of those”
Are whispers magnified by glass?
you wouldn’t believe the secrets that pass
when people think no one’s listening
the gruesome details about lovers smashing
if it weren’t so titillating, it might be laughing
At some point I have to tune them out
with my laptop and AirPods, I shut out the crowd
but occasionally I pause and look up to see
my fellow students from the university
sharing their esoteric exploits unknowingly
I’m REALLY getting to know them - secretly
and these conversations are firing my libido
I’m very good at reading lips - lucky me.

freakdown = combination freakout and breakdown.
smash = to have - come on - you know.

-------charma
A stammer has been mine all my days
in recent months therapy again did take
but fear ruled through many a situation
what's to do? zero as it couldn't even shake
Many branches of Costa coffee shops
but always busy queued up made me fear
my tongue would block not able to speak
this my thoughts filled my mind like a spear
I wanted so much this to overcome
just to ask for a small Americano that's all
surely now having had therapy so many years
try to believe I can do this climb this wall
An incentive too, get a Costa card
collect points every time I do buy
so I had a plan, to get my goal
nothing to lose, you're not going to die
So the week of the attack arrived
I set to do three Costa in that week
this I did on different days by bus
asked for a small Americano I did speak
Victory had been truly achieved
confidence was gained felt so assured
the Costa coffee I had earned to drink
enjoy it so much better having endured
A tribute to the amphetamine of day
Caffeine in all its glorious forms
It’s legal it’s potent
Nobody hounds you
Scrutinizing your intake
Be it social or on your own time
Beyond espresso and the americano
My ultimate favorite being
Chocolate covered coffee beans
I can’t get enough
I love the jolt they give
Throughout the day
In addition to boosting energy
And stimulating metabolism
Caffeine reigns as a top effective pain killer
And that’s the story I’m sticking to

Woken up by my mindful alarm clock, as to not wake my house, I sit up and stretch, i make my way out in the living room, i dress, and put on my shoes, unlock the door, close it and step out onto the early morning grass, still wet from dew, the sun is just beginning to wake up still, as its rays is setting on the house across from mine, i wrap my sweater around my neck, the wind is still cool, but its so refreshing to have its breeze blow in my hair.
i set out slow to walk, as not in a hurry, the day is not yet begun, i long to take my time and take in every step, every breath, this is my time to be one with GODS creation, be sereaned by his birds, the squirrels are up running about gathering their food for winter, are they rushing the season too?
I need to take this ME TIME to gather my thoughts, get my mind centered on what is coming my way later on, but not too much, as I want to start a new goal every day, one positive quote to say to myself each morning, no more negative thoughts, as I'm beginning to write again after five years, and I am using this as my tool to let go of negative thoughts, feelings, about the past, leave it where it is, behind me.
The sun is beginning to shine more, my pace is quickened now, i don't count steps, just my heartbeat, proving to myself and GOD that I'm here for a purpose, and I'm not going to rely on OTHERS to tell me positive things about myself anymore, because as I've learned in the past, people come and go, career change, personal life change, but I know one person who will never change, never leave, and its OUR SAVIOR Jesus, I want to build a personal relationship with HIM, do what I can to follow HIS example, one day at a time, step by step, I'm NOT PERFECT, but I can start by being positive, in how I talk to myself and others..
I'm back home now, I look up to the sky, close my eyes, inhale deeply, and take in this moment, as a mom, wife, daughter of GOD, daily walks in the morning will come my routine again.

Comfort blazing
In tip of my
soul
as I gain what they grow
Sometimes, in the mornings,
The morning crows don’t sing—
Perched and preaching by a loblolly.
Breathe in this metanoia,
We all live for it.
And if the morning crows never reverenced,
Sitting at my doorstep,
Waiting for my feet to touch pavement,
I might’ve deemed you worthy of abasement.
But the morning crows chant my indiscretions,
To the man in the moon,
Too far to touch, too distant to see—
So I cannot tell him
Of my worries.
Fill up this cup with your americano—
It’s been so long since I’ve tasted of it.
The morning crows fear I will be different
When the sun sets
And daybreak ends.
So I hide in my sleigh bed,
Too frightened to tell you
That I am revolutionizing myself.
The morning crows now mourn the loss of youth.
As I settle down to become holy,
They sing my death—
Heedlessness,
Widening your eyes,
Sharpening your grin.
When I wane once more,
The morning crows will say,
They told me so.
Perched and preaching by a loblolly,
I am reclaimed, rosy-eyed.
Breathe in this metanoia.
We all live for it—
