GOODLUCK

Gutless muffled monarch wooed millions to the poll,
Oozing pathetic speech of poverty (I once had no shoes)
On congruent grounds we let him, though we hated his coterie.
Disappointed, we wail, waiting substitute to end the reign of quack
Lacklustre, insipid and a pervading naivety.
Unvaried captain rocks this boat, gagged by plunderers.
Circles of death, twinge, miseries the reign of a drab creek king
Kleptocracy adorning imposition,

EBELE

Embezzlers on rampage, holes bequeathed for pillaging.
Bandits as conniving ministers besmirched obtuse scamp
Egregious craven shrieked at the sound of war “I am not a lion”.
Laggard lumper loon left fanatical murderers at our doorsteps
Encumbrances from delinquent clan divide the love for mother land

DAME

Damp squib's duchess & indecent tongue, devoid of restraint
Audacious domestic appendage ferrying funds
Merriment and intrigue feigned as obligations,
Edgy. encumbrance though ceaselessness forms their amity.

PATIENCE

Punk pretending and purloining to private vaults.
Adventurous nerve for futile globe -trot.
Twitchy at state's affairs though never elected.
Intoxicated by serendipity, shaming all with activity.
Euphemistic drama, Scrappy curiosity with comedy.
National dilemma by decorated buffoons.
Crude verbiages to amuse eggheads “my Fellow widows”
Encomium of approval turned sour “Power” the pipe for thieves.

JONATHAN

Jokers jostled in enthusiasm to rule, (politicking )
Onslaught from 'Boko-Haram' drove sleep from wearied countrymen
Numbed as "hoipolloi echoed NO to mistimed removal,
Alas, the fraud, rapscallion looting Criminals Lords over us
Tyranny cloaked garbs, creek professor without a thesis.
Higgledy-piggledy a travesty called democracy.
Amidst the rubble of a crumbling amalgam,
Nigerian Lords watched the drama secured, while we die helpless

Cus Eye Right Randumb

On my two year anniversary
a new verse too read
canny words set free
doctor said you need

Apples nutritious
And grapes with pips in
Cables that trip us
And drapes for peeping

At sights kept hidden
Affairs and lovers
Secret keeping
Shared with others

Handsome ransom
at mind not money
I’m often random
and it’s not funny

Crabs go sideways
until the sea sweeps them
eyes open up wide
at bikinis let peeking

as the waves go by us
and I do a wee
sunburnt red faces
smiling at me

soaking up the sunshine
a day at the beach
sunburnt tan lines
an apple or peach

bottom as my trunks fill
bobbing along
smooth like a wheel
singing a song

summer days
sand in your crease
lovely brown glaze
attacked by geese

some sit on a nudist
seemingly happy
fun this rude is
until towel slaps me

a towel you then lay
warm sand feels marvelous
face down drift away
part of us hardenous

it's okay on the sand
where no one can see
it's gone and you stand
an outline there be

They say be your own
I say who are they
Facts can’t be known
I say hip hooray

Hip hip hooray I mean
keep it original
Sit to see if seen
cliche when critical

I think this has run its course
A furlong too long
from a drunk drinking horse
So long so long and on

I pee when I say goodbye
see that magic
auf wiedersehen goodbye
puns tragic

Taliban crossing the Mediterranean
breeding with Italians and Albanians
Italibans and Talbanians
talented puns

Premium Member TITANICAL

Cruise Day
Maiden Voyage
Destination: Southampton, UK
Superior Titanical passenger ship
Ocean breezes
Journeying through an open mind
From the Wealthy to the poor
Titanic pulls away from the pier
It is being maneuvered by tugboats
Anchors away mates
Excitement in stored
Food, Music and Dance
Love affairs that blossomed
Romance being the highlight in the Moon light
Night Stars that watched
Smooth and calm
Cruising fine at first
Suddenly disaster strikes
Unexpected event
The Titanic hits an iceberg
At least that is what history says, but others believe that the Titanic was hit by a missile of some sort
Oceans deep below
Was the Titanic destined to be destroyed?

The Titanic Captain was concerned for the survival of the passengers
He then ordered women and children to prepare to embark on the lifeboats
The Titanic was steadily sinking to the oceans below
One distinguished wealthy couple were on board, and they were IDA and ISIDORE STRAUS who were business partners to Mr. R.H. Macy himself of the Macy’s Department Store
It was time for the women and children to speedily board the lifeboats
However, Ida Straus declined and wanted to be with her husband
These were her last words, “We were married together and we shall die together”
True love sea ward
The Titanic went down for the last time into Davey’s Locker
Lives loss with no accountability of the departed.

Ocean deep, the Titanic was no more
Soul’s voyaged into Heaven beyond the eyes no one can see nor hear
I had the pleasure and honor in having a descendant of Ida and Isidore Straus being the Grandson, Kenneth Straus who was the CEO for R.H. MACY CORPORATE BUYING at Herald Square flagship on the 14th Floor
Tears fall from my eyes
The skies and oceans wise
Ghostly finale
My Soul to thee.

Premium Member Haiku Blooms

Dewdrops sparkle
In blurry light;
Grass veiled in mist

Violet flower buds
Props on climbers;
Fence garlands display

Moments here
Lingering softly;
Awaiting sunrise

Sanguine sensations
Tender touch of August;
Rain quenching dry earth

Saturday styles
National Day rehearsal;
Road block barricades

Crowded congestion
Marina Bay Floating Platform;
Final Preview commotion

Rise to the occasion
Nothing else matters;
Focus on intentions

Busy preparations
No distractions allowed;
Outcome dictates tact

By grass verge
New blooms emerge;
Unnoticed fragrance

Song in the wind
Grass seeds fly;
Away from good earth

Affairs of the heart
Nobody understands;
Love triangle

Morning caress
Casuarina tree surprise;
Glimpse old apparitions

Being sees
Becoming fruits;
Plain truth attends

Dark Secrets

Do you harbor a secret true?
Like everyone else and me too;
All of us have something to hide,
Affairs we would rather set aside:

An illicit fling or an erotic scene,
Oh, of nature grave and keen,
A wild fantasy or wistful whims
Or maybe, one of the 7 deadly sins.

Like the wilted rose in a book
Or the rickety skeleton in a nook,
We shove our frailties in the far recess
of our mind for no one to access.

We all succumb to carnal sentiments,
Unmindful of the 10 commandments;
If anyone can prove me otherwise
that truth not I speak but plain lies,

Forever to hold my peace I swear,
Not to write, speak or ever share
my thoughts or opinion in this case
Until my last day of the sunshine I face!

Premium Member Our Affair

I am prouder these days, I now live alone,
I’ve defined what I want in a mate,
I now know what I want my affair to provide,
I know what I want on a date.

Each affair has to fill to a huge overflow,
Leaving a smile all over my face,
Each affair needs to leave me covered in love,
Anywhere, anytime, anyplace,

And each affair needs to leave me begging for more,
With stains on my small finger tips,
Leave me on my knees, in my lounge, all alone,
With my affair all over my lips,

You see, these secret affairs I have all the time,
I hunt them as though I’m a shark,
And I devour my prey in the car or at home,
My chocolate that’s white, milk or dark.

Premium Member All In a Day

he got up at bedtime stretched and gathered the sheets

shook up the pillows sorted the pages and went to his desk

thoughts and emotions dripped from fine ink on paper

looked at a day’s worth of poetry philosophy and reflection

laced with emotions intuition and balance to be embraced

when he stumbled on seeming inconsistencies and doubts

he tickled his fancy with a feathered quill and let out a sigh

arranged reconstructed and narrated what should have been

meanwhile the roof was leaking and the fireplace was in ashes

for he was poor and his writings would never pay the bills

a mouldy loaf starred at him when he opened the fridge

at least the electricity supply had not yet been disconnected

his heart warmed with pleasure at the sight of some pasta

no sauce and no cheese but a drop of milk for his thirst

food for thought would carry him through hours of hunger

metaphors happily mingled with synonyms and anagrams

states of subconscious flow enlightened transcendence

grammatical constraints had never been his strongest suit

and he was still in his nightgown exuding musk and dust

a lonely semicolon was confused as it looked for its place

cheap coffee and a few fags encouraged further creations

of a lost wonder world with dreams and mysterious events

he would shape his past and his future in fantasy and magic

shed normative pressures conventions and crude dogma

leave them in plain sight to remind him of his true calling

he sought independence and freedom rather than money

critiqued and portrayed the sad state of deceptive affairs

that surrounded him unless he dipped deep into the inkpot

scratched and scribbled prologues sequences and an epitaph

maybe one day he might be given kind posthumous acclaim

Premium Member A Timely Message from a Mighty Monarch

A mighty monarch had a dream,
the kind that makes men stir and scream.
In mid-earth grew a large, strong tree,
It was so tall that all could see.

A holy one gave the decree,
to cut down and destroy the tree,
but leave the large stump in the ground,
with bronze and iron fetters bound.

The mighty monarch was the tree,
to whom his subjects bowed the knee.
His Majesty was very great,
But his arrogance sealed his fate.

God had decreed he’d lose his throne,
and live in nature all alone.
His hair like one unkempt will grow,
and nails protrude like those of a crow.

A chastened monarch he would be,
until his folly, he would see.
Like a man who has lost his mind,
he will live like the beastly kind.

The purpose of the harsh decree
was that all on earth may agree,
that God rules the affairs of men,
and decides where men rule, and when.

At the end of his harsh ordeal
the chastened king proclaimed with zeal,
the Most High God exists for real,
Let all on earth before him kneel.

Listen you haughty men and proud,
Who mock this God with voices loud.
One day you too will face His wrath,
because you chose the foolish path.

Nothing More Than Sorrow

Precious time on your hands
     n' peace on your brow
Flower of a moment in the eternal hour
    Peace be with me now
       Not a wave breaks
      my heart like the sea
Final silence after a storm that has died
          still I cannot sleep

Now all the worlds falling leaves
           n' the drifting winter snow
            seems to have given me
with its quiet nothing more than sorrow

           It's a beauty to feel
              a notion to be
skin deep but ugliness goes right through to
              the core of me
        Where not a bird calls
          a work of stilled life
What doesn't bend at some point must break
             call it what you like

Now all of this evenings dew
n' for reasons only God knows
       seems to have changed you
into nothing, nothing more than sorrow

         Hey, let it be said
but it's so hard to confess
Hating rivals more than loving myself
well if that should be my best...
        Then the garden is barren
             It is fruitless n' bare
All my bloody pains were in vain love
           one sorry state of affairs

Lady Luck should have a kinder face
and if she does why won't it show
both slighted n' no less appraised
for bluffing. Nothing more than sorrow

Premium Member Musin's From Th' Front Porch

A house ain't a home 'less'n there's a porch on which to muse.
A place to sprawl upon a swing an' take a restful snooze,
Er prop yer feet on th' railin' to ponder th' settin' sun,
When supper is finished an' all th' farmin' chores is done!

There must be a bench er so an' a couple uv rockin' chairs,
To beckon folks to set a spell an' discuss th' world's affairs.
To mull over th' crops uv corn an' soy beans, er maybe whether,
There'll be relief frum th' current spell uv heat an' arid weather!

What better place to greet neighbors on their evenin' promenade,
An' invite 'em to come an' set a spell to enjoy sum lemonade.
While th' kids scamper on th' lawn a-chasin' lightnin' bugs,
Old folks discuss their aches an' pains an' therapeutic drugs!

Th' moon rises o'er th' horizon a-castin' its meller glow.
Also risin' is hordes uv pesky m'skeeters a-flittin' to an' fro!
Addin' to th' pastoral flavor is th' scent uv new-mown hay.
What a pleasin' endin' to a perfect summer's day!

A front porch is where fellership with family an' friends abounds,
An' where a feller takes pleasure a-scratchin' th' ears uv his hounds!
Though majestic castles boast fancy balconies a-reachin' fer th' sky,
A porch is a man's throne fer musin an' watchin' th' world go by!
