I wanted to hangout,
to be with the cool kids!
There standing together,
leaning against brick walls.
Holding their cigarettes,
rotating the filter between thumb and fore finger.
Putting Export A's up to their mouths for an extended drag.
The smoke seemed to surround them in a cloud of respect.
That was the time before their fingers had become yellowed,
before their teeth had lost that Colgate brightness.
They, in that moment were at the peak of their perfection,
oblivious that sometimes, tomorrow can be a cruel joke.
"What are you looking at?"
I looked down at my suddenly fascinating shoes,
watched my shoes move me in a different direction.
Their laughter stuck to me like a piece of discarded bubblegum.
So I kept walking, until I found a different self.
Determined, I carved out my own itsy bit of coolness.
A certain walk,
a bit of aloofness.
Not trying so hard to be liked.
Me the mysterious stranger,
dark clothes,
an aura of dangerous!
I tried it out for a while,
It somehow seemed to work.
"Lamoureux, you want a cigarette?"
"Na I ain't into that Sh_t!"
I walked away holding my head high,
"whatever dude.."
Somehow saying no added to my rep,
a certain kinda bizarre respect!
Army boots, metal cleats clicking as I sauntered away.
Then I went home
Changed back into familiar clothes,
dressed like myself head to toes.
Just a bit outside of normal I chose.
Said goodbye to my make believe, didn't need it anymore.
Just walked past it and slammed that door!
I had known cool for just a bit, it never truly did fit.
That dark bleeding persona wasn't me,
I needed my inner awkward to be let free,
but without being afraid of what others would see.
Friendly is how I was meant to be,
so I started climbing high up in my own tree
Fully myself, not some fake man of mystery.
Adios cool self, you're ancient History!
I traveled all the way from Mexico.
To see the world.
To view the different things.
So now and then.
I know my time has come.
To see the world.
To know what heaven's done.
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
I know the world is full of different things.
Different things that really catch my eye.
So now and then.
It only makes me cry.
'Cause love and joy.
They're just a part of life..
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
Adios' Amigos...
I think the world is such a special thing.
Its love and joy.
It really makes me sing.
Sing peace on earth.
And good will to men.
That's why I think these words were heaven sent.
Adios' Amigos...

The Poet Snarkies
These are the pigtailed cuties who play in the parkies.
Also, so darling and sparkly, they are the the life of all parties.
Till a new girl comes in and tries to simply
jump rope,
She has no idea they are Snarkies and they
will lead her to like them.
Alas, she is has no hope.
At first they welcome this playmate!
But be sure, their friendship with her has
an end date.
Suddenly, they see, OMG, she's jumping too
Far better than they.
So, being Snarkies, plan do all they can to see that she does not last.
Like boys playing King of the Hill,
The Snarkies have sweet words to tell,
before they move in for the kill.
One afternoon she comes to the Park,
She's told to get out, by the Lead Snark.
She just does not get it!!
Just leaves them snickering as she walks
alone, on a bench to sit.
The new girl wakes up the next morning
And knows it's her day to be dawning.
She learned her lesson well!
And has no more Snarkies to poison her
poetry well.
Adios, Snarkies!

Far off the beaten track and trail
on quest for music’s Holy Grail
led pilgrims on biblical scale
more than can be counted.
With midsummer sun on our cheek
in tents to shelter we did seek
and pitched them at its highest peak
on a hilltop mounted
As we climbed the lean of the hill
my beer I would try not to spill
and sat with the great unwashed till
olé and adios.
It was I, El Skeet, amigo,
in my poncho and sombrero
half-cut like a loco gringo
who waved “vaya con dios!”
We lit yet another hash bong
all up in smoke like Cheech & Chong
and passed it to each one along
under the cop radars.
Late as corroded brain cells flag
with every mind trip headfu*k drag
I tucked in to my sleepin' bag
on the hill ‘neath the stars
As music and mayhem did rage
back in next summer’s youthful age
we camped closer to the big stage
all primed for the big show.
I’d sit and watch the crowds go by
in the hot sun and dust and dry
under a big Waikato sky
from our camp on tent row
We ripped into our grog trailer
and drank like a drunken sailor
but by nightfall lookin' paler
yet in the crowd I went.
Waitin' for Cold Chisel that night
with a superdoob glowin' bright
I was fu*kin’ high as a kite
and lurched back to my tent
The next day I woke in a daze
and walked off my drunken malaise
when I heard singin' songs of praise
in some weird sh*t I saw.
Tambourine hippies, punks and geeks
and chantin' Hari Krishna freaks
burnt incense in clay painted cheeks
so I got high some more
Yet in a hot wet and wild hour
stoned in the unisex shower
I gazed many a sweet flower
in their naked splendour.
We bathed too in waters that flowed
down where the lazy river bowed
lest my head spontaneous explode
on my three day bender
That night by the stars we were led
as above a smoky sky bled
when out The Enz rocked “I See Red”
and fired a burnin' flare.
In the spirit of Sweetwaters
we lived among at close quarters
sons of Bacchus and his daughters
and I, El Skeet, was there!

** of Our GOODBYES **
All the poems and stories telling of
Goodbyes
In whatever genre or style, make me cry.
From hearts broken, to dreams fallen,
and to the hardest of all these:
Always
In a life’s time — are the endings that
carry the heart’s deepest feelings
Reeling through thunder
Blasting
Emphatically
Those last and final
Goodbyes
— for the dearest of all our beloved —
Goodbyes…
— holding hope for some remaining possibilities,
to state, “Au revoir!” or, “Adios!”
— embracing a measure of faith, to shout, “Ciao!” or,
— perceiving colorful auras all around,
to declare, “Syonara!”
— seeking fellowship,to wish aloud, “Moaka wakati ujao!”
— and, while losing sufficient breath, to ask my soul
To voice this, “With my love, ‘til we meet again!”
While hearing children sing, “Bye-bye” to butterflies
In flight to forever —
Strengthened and Divinely designed, holding
all visions and all expressed cries as
Surrendered,
Sheltered by the scales of their four wings during a
Rapid rise to come upon heaven’s homeland touch again.

What in tarnation is reincarnation
Could we come back as a piece of toast?
Or do you think that death is just that
The end, it's over, adios?
Some get passionate about the subject
But nobody knows for certain
When we finally take our very last breath
Is it really the final curtain?
Here's my humble opinion on the subject
It's over when the fat lady sings
But I'm open to other ideas on the subject
I wouldn't mind another fling
Guess this old guy is much too realistic
Watching shows bout the universe on TV
Can't believe how infinitesimal we are
As insignificant as a little old flea
So now you know my thoughts on the subject
Hope we can still all be friends
Maybe one day we'll find out the answer
When we finally come to the end
Comeuppance generated
desire to kill self awoke
resolution to make amends
bedevils this bloke
who deservedly receives just desserts
invisible hand doth choke
living daylights, hence
nightmare scenario I evoke.
Following objective forthwith
pained papa doth aim
constitutes feeble attempt made
to reach out and accept blame
reckless transgression
to spout warrants claim
if religious, thence within perdition
while still alive
mine flesh set fire to flame
analogous to burnt offering
even that sacrifice considered lame
imposed upon lovely bones,
I cannot utter nor name
one garden variety primate repurposed
thru cremation his cruelty destiny will tame.
Awfulness permeates nerve wracked soul,
because behavior concerning yours truly
hashtagged boneheaded rogue
(as easily attested to courtesy the missus),
indiscriminately sharing sensitive information
innocently celebrating their joys and sorrows
concerning welfare of deux biological chicas
which pathetic body, mind and spirit triage
attributed to where fool rushed into
where angels fear to tread.
No ambition, exertion, inspiration... arose
these last few days melancholy grows
a brief lull occurred,
whereby lack of crafting poems or prose
insync engulfed and teed off par
for the course
stainless steel pitch forked shows
with mettlesome irony
(perhaps witnessed
by dearth of posting)
finding me figuratively pitched
upon horns of dilemma.
Far from human league,
(more'n mark twain fathoms
into deep purple troubled waters)
I flounder amidst flotsam and jetsam
mankind receding toward lost horizon adios
at sea within Lake lachrymose
moody blue foo fighting
wretched beastie boy feels morose.
Subsequent diminution to write,
nevertheless mustered
aforementioned reasonable rhyme
attempting to describe psychological plight
thru arranging words, I take flight.
