Long-range forecasts
predict outbreaks of pretty weather girls.
In the event of short-range predictions,
some ugly guy may be substituted.
In the case of an emergency,
mice may seek the sheltering wings
of owls and hawks.
By midnight, the total destruction
of garden gnomes is anticipated.
Survivors are asked to remain
in their bathtubs
until absolutely clean.

I loved her sorrows.
We shared a mask
that we spoke through -
a mail-box for wordless hungers.
Passion maimed us,
even I shed tears sensing
a Puccini last act.
She read herself in my face;
I gave her long-range forecasts.
She endured –
desperately believing
that I would always be there
to mop up.

A view of the ocean of print
On the night sky over Australia, among thousands of stars
the dog of hell appeared, killing the Aboriginal men
but a woman of the tribe slaughtered the dog, the men
were spared, as the legend says.
A beautiful story if not told right, but the dream is true.
Is London becoming a murder capital of the West?
The article had the face of black youth; surely an incident
or is the writer trying to tell us something?
The newspaper relates news from the Ukraine war and tells
of a new long-range rocket capable of killing many Russians
A war blended with facts and downright lies to be expected
as we take sides in this conflict.
On a lighter note, the European Song Contest is upon us
I will continue not watching this colossal embarrassment
over this gay parade.
A sad note from the USA, where school shooting has become
A new war zone where the mad has the right to wear arms.

I fell in love with her sorrows.
We shared a mail-box for wordless hungers.
Passion maimed us,
even I shed tears, sensing
a Puccini last act approaching.
She read herself in my face.
I gave her news;
long-range forecasts
of more disappointments to come.
Lastly she phoned her mom;
she alone on that stage
she had erected for all such
one act
theatrical performances.

A good player in six feet tall
So expert to catch and dribble
Before shooting smartly that ball
A good player in six feet tall
For long range throws he’ll get them all
Earning points- triple and double
A good player in six feet tall
Has no fouls- he’s incredible!

Did we want such a world where there is no
Cultivation of flowers, people die from
Hunger which way fishes die if kept on
Soil, for want of medicine women and
Babies fall down on the lap of Death while
The war-mongers are investing million
Million dollars in weapons-factories?
Which peace in killing men, in whom there lie
Hearts and river like love, who cry in pain
And laugh in small happiness? How will be
The earth without men? How will be your nights
Without the companions to love? Without
The touch of soft hands of child, how will be
The mornings and the evenings? How will be
Everyday life without the affection
Of your father? The mother who waters
Your path with prayers and tears, how will be
Your life without her? O Man, who do you
Kill throwing bombs from the sky? Who do you
Kill throwing the long-range missiles? Your eyes
Have got rusty; so seeing men, you mistake
To recognize them as Hindus-Muslims-
Christians-Buddhists and Jains. But you always
Recognize cows as cows and goats as goats;
You only mistake to recognize men.

Cruel life that goes in diurnal circles,
Never a rest from the inexorable
Events that are flung onto our souls,
No one is ready to defy the unacceptable.
Still we bear the jabs, the tests, the surgery
Hoping to live a better and easy life,
Till better days arrive and we will sweat
As summer heats scorch and wish an end to strife.
A year I spent bedridden full of pain
And saw the sturdy maple tree change
Spring brings out its leaves, summer its fruit,
As seeds disperse in quite a long range
New saplings grow but the tree begins its death
Leaves take new color, an exquisite exchange,
But in the end death is inevitable as it is to all.
So I stay in my bed till time takes its toll.

October hums the chilly tune of a lyric,
November croons to cold winds from the north,
When winter will sweep suddenly eastward
Blanketing the Black Hills with a coat of white--
Icy snow lingering until the Missouri River
Valleys have had a hard frost before moving
Into the Mississippi River valley and the cities
Minneapolis-St. Paul, Chicago, St. Louis—
Her target, one after another, until winter
Spreads across land, and memories of August,
Heat waves, and western fires have faded, and
Folks are whistling the tunes of summertime.

The Q Man
The Q Man was somebody who was different
He travelled the galaxies and universe doing a job
Flying a Type 6 spaceship interstellar style
Normal space travel took forever and a day
But his ship was a souped one off
With engine and fuel enhancements
Zipping from world to world to work
He lands in a remote place and hides
His pointed ship from observers or spies
And hikes to his location to do the job
The tool of his trade is a long range rifle
Made on Planet Earth three millennia ago
It’s fitted with modified 7. 62mm bullets
These kill every single life form from a mile
On normal blood and body organisms
Normal explosive bullets do the job
With insect like ones with an armoured body
Armour piercing acid bullets eradicate them
He has 3002 different bullet types to use
Each one killing a designated target
The contract killer with no home
Except between the stars in his ship
Living for a dozen centuries extendable
You don’t want to mess with him
Nor be on his kill list as you’re ed
Zapped by an old skool high tech bullet
Fired by the best assassin there ever was
The Q Man and his rifle always on call

Winter roars back,
May slips from view,
April has lost its anchor
in these storm tossed sky’s.
Songbirds scrabble under
canopies still too thin
for cover.
None look up but huddle
in puffer jackets recently stowed.
It snowed all day,
now the wind is shoveling daffodils
out of the soggy earth.
Mice nibble roots
brought up from old larders.
House cats glare from frosted windows,
bare feet wrap themselves in wooly
Christmas gifts.
When May arrives it will find us
defending slowly melting igloos.
Water is filtered through strong drink.
Fortunately, we have almanacs
and long range forecasts
so the present need for handmade arks
may not be necessary.

Life Changes
Written: by Miracle Man
1/8/2021
Each decade toted with it a serious life shift,
at first my exuberance gift wrapped them in a haze.
With changes so subtle my boat began to drift,
I encountered periods of boredom and malaise.
But as clock passed, each decade seemed to worsen,
Now I reminisce of times when pain was strange.
Today I fight feeling like an old displaced person,
thoughts lingering on the past and not long range.

Is there color in the sky?
Is there light in the night?
Today will we try?
Focus our sight on what's right.
Baby steps may falter, but are taken!
A long-range goal may be glimpsed
Through the misty morning and night forsaken
Climb up and smile, I insist!
