My dear, I share with you a truth:
A life lesson I have lived.
Discretion is valor, a silent shield,
A strength that guards the heart revealed.
Be not the man who parrots all he hears,
Who, finding no one to tell,
Confides in the door.
He's a fool lost in words that wound and bore.
Let discretion be your strength—
Bridle your tongue with care,
Let intuition guide your ear,
Be perceptive, be aware.
God may have endowed such a man
With heavenly graces,
But the ruin of him will be
His own endless talk, so careless and vain.
To know what holds value for another
Is a burden not for faintest minds;
A sacred trust to keep,
A treasure in silence deep.
Discretion defines character—
Be the safe where secrets sleep.
Be eager to listen and to grasp,
But slow to speak.
In this wisdom, your honor will last.
Valiant are the lips that stay sealed
Even at the tempest of awkwardness.

Before a misty morning mirror
above a half-filled basin
such cold water was I braving
simply to lave my face in
but the coldest cut of all
and it only hurts when I smile
I severely slit myself while
I was busy shaving
but did my frozen fingers fumble
or was it just a rusty razor
which sorely needs replacement
that figured in my defacement
as there were many a slip
'twixt blade and lip

Words like gentle rain,
But ground stays parched, no life springs,
Empty sound remains.

For talking too much in class, we've buttoned your lip.
If the teacher does ask you to talk, here is a little tip.
You unbutton your lip just like a button on your shirt.
The first few times, you may feel a little hurt.
So be gentle, so your lip ~ doesn't rip.

In today’s crazy,
topsy-turvy world,
you do
what you gotta do,
pick up jobs as you can,
but I must say
it is a bit awkward
to do your job
taking ‘grams
door-to-door
only to find
that you must
land a kiss
on your boss’s lips…
—————
an ‘e’ lipogram that will not be delivered to any contest doors… :-)

Take the needle
Take the thread
Keep slowly piercing my lips
Sticking the needle in and out
Until my lips are sewn shut
Take away my ability to speak
I don't want it anymore
Watch the blood drop from my lips onto the shirt you said looked good on me
I can't control the blood
If you don't like the sight of it, why did you cause it?
Is this what happens when I say yes to you?
Did you want to see how you could hurt me?
This was a two person job yet I was alone
I gave you my sparks to ignite the fire
yet the moment I saw the small and timid flame,
you did everything in your power to put it out.

The sun blazed like a hearth
Upon the helpless earth
As I strutted from the stream,
My calabash filled to the brim.
I saw him lose his footing,
He fell and hurt his shin
But he fixed his gaze on me,
Cleared his throat and spoke to me:
“Please, a mouthful brother
To quench this raging thirst,
I am sorry this is a bother
But give me a mouthful first”
“Your timing is wrong, brother
Because I am late to church.
Please endure your thirst
Till I return from the church”.
In the church I sang
Until my voice grew hoarse,
I knelt in the pew and prayed
For the good of all my neighbours.
I opened my eyes
And saw the funeral procession.
“A mouthful would have saved him”,
I heard the mourners say.
“May his soul rest in peace”,
I replied and wept.

Keep a stiff upper lip, it isn't that bad
Things will surely get better
Life is a series of these ups and downs
Surely isn't always fair weather
Unpredictable is a word that's often used
When referring to things in general
For some strange reason as we all get older
Life gets somewhat less pleasurable
Can't do the things we once did with ease
Restricted by physical abilities
At one time things were second nature to us
They now restrict our activities
But all things considered I'm doing quite well
For a man of my advancing years
Can't do ALL the things I once used to do
Also lost some brain matter I fear

Inherit a world we didn't create,
discover the knowledge those before aint,
teaching kids that what we had absent,
they are the first to say don't wait,
demanding adults change their ways,
blame our generation, outspoken, complain,
disrespecting your elders through climate change,
our generation who was not taught,
our generation who found and put forth,
our generation who didn't ignore,
our generation who put knowledge in schools,
our generation the youth blame and force,
disrespect us like no generation before
you'll be in danger we will enforce
kids with voices entitled to talk,
telling us knowledge as if we are fools,
as if they know better, as if they know more,
my generation made this world, kids it aint yours,
you know ,because we know ,and we were not taught,

Her luscious lips tend several functions;
a tender paradise to lay yours on,
A salve to your heart's aches,
A wily weapon for taking her stand,
As well a purveyor of her mind's many wisdoms.
Grateful winds carry forth her words.
Bursting forth ever so caringly,
from pink, perfect lips.
As her sublime sound caresses the air,
Peaceful perfection grips the atmosphere.
Her words, her cries, her songs,
In none lay any wrongs.
A voice ferociously tender, pervading all existence,
Breathing in life with faithful loving persistence.
The common word bleakly educates the brain,
her sounds sing serenely, not unlike the rain.
Nurturing my heart, curing its pain,
Gems born of air, nothing stays the same.
