JONQUIL

JONQUIL

You may know me as Jonquil
My cousins are daffodil and narcissus
A fringed cup surrounded by petals
Each combining white with yellow
The latter, a hue with my own name
And I’m perfumed, but they are not
Distinctive yet I shouldn’t be proud
As amaryllis, we are all still family

Premium Member Friends

A Canadian goose...
Became friends with a Colorado blue spruce.
The former a teacher,
The latter a preacher.

"Why are you sad?", asked the bird.
"It's cause of the world news that I heard!".

The winged creature than began a prayer,
And the branched conifer felt it in the air.
"I pray each of your needles live as one,
As your journey has just begun."

The kind words were so appreciated,
The towering fern joined the educated;
"And you I wish your wings will fly,
With God's blessings in the sky."

Relationships can bud be it cat and dog,
Or of peace and harmony between bug and frog.

City of Angels

Truth, a five letter word for distinction.
Sometimes I feel I am losing sleep.
Dreaming of a good deed, one day sooner
or later.
Not enough sleep, not enough good places
to go.
I know of one place.
I lost my keys one day last week.
An apartment filled with desire, blinding
lights
& a halo up on a hill.
Further up the road I found my good deed
For little or nothin’
For the first time in a long time I laid & I slept for hours.
Finding myself beside you,
That one uninvited feeling after a million and
one
Bad invited feelings.
One day baby I am gonna thank you
One day baby you’ll see.
I’ll feed you from a bowl where everything
Will be alright.
One day, sooner or later.
The latter a beautiful mystique disguised
Under a halo.
One day, sooner or later.
I’ll find those keys & escape the boundaries
That live in my mind.
One day soon baby, I’ll get on my knees
& accept you as the truth I’ve known all along

Rap Is King

Rap Is King

it started to rain on the night that we first decided
we staked a mortal claim toward the things we put away
strapped in the blinds pull back the initial alarm

If children ask the question why?
Why do warriors fight and die?
We answer that we are sure
Sure that patriotism beckons us to war;

Way t o go loss of Nemo pledge a key whole
latter a bridge over Madison County firm
flood of questions built on my reflection
base to well known king

Rap is the new act king
sitting on my porch light swing
blade of grass covers the lies
does this come at a big surprise

filter through the midas touch ring
Rap Is King

At birth I was spanked to ensure breathing
Later poetry enhanced life's meaning
The first a violent act
The latter a peaceful fact
Special part of life that keeps me beaming

Sun Down In El Paso

Hank loughs with guilt
thought while the smoke
of cigarrattes tingle
in his mouth.
He has neumonia, "for God sakes"!
But he enjoys smoking until
the last drag.
Finally there is a silence, like a chapel
on Sunday mass; little rings bells
at the distance sounds.
Our friendship is tight
he gave me his hand to pull him up.
The silence remains in the chapel
of his home, another puff, onemore puff,
the last puff.
The bells, still ringing
he has chest pain, but latter a releif
by a glass of ice coffe.
We joke between puffs, we know
life is short; let celebrate our dreams.
Time passed by and the silence in the
chapel remains untouched,
one more whisper, one more drag
he falls sleep with a childish face,
all his worries are gone.
