Notes About The Poem

At birth I was spanked to ensure breathing
Later poetry enhanced life's meaning
The first a violent act
The latter a peaceful fact
Special part of life that keeps me beaming

I wrote this in response to someone posting the following question on Twitter:  "Do you remember when you started writing poetry?"

Life Signs

At birth I was spanked to ensure breathing
Later poetry enhanced life's meaning
The first a violent act
The latter a peaceful fact
Special part of life that keeps me beaming
