My Last Day in Ogalala

Road work had been finished
for the winter on an asphalt strip
north of town near a nature preserve.
I said good-bye to the hotel owner
and he invited me back
although the town was a lifetime away
from my home. We shook hands.
The town wore its history well
with a façade of an old west town
complete with a jail and post office
on its main street, as if it wanted
to live that life again.
Picture postcards were sold in a drug store
to be packed away and taken home.
Gates of fences aligning themselves
on either side of a highway
spoke of the last cattle drive.
I realized this was the west
where cowboys lived and died.
Reflections stirred of how we gave of our lives
for our dreams and for the ones we loved.
Hasn’t it always been this way?
Sandhills loomed to my side as I drove
on a two-lane east to another town
where I could see another historic site
then get onto the interstate and drive
to the next assignment.
The sky above the open land was an ocean
as I drove east toward the sun.

The Last Day of Fall

The bird spreads his wings
Riding the flow of the winds
Enjoying the ride
Freedom it brings

Trees sway, petals blow
Seeds are carried by the wind
So new life can begin
All will die to be born again

Last day of fall
Frost will come soon
Trees all go bare
Hibernation now begins

In the golden beacon of time.
In a shroud of darkness, a life will shine.

The rocky path was illuminated with a glow.
To show your beating heart in your soul.

A leaf gently swirls in the wind as it blows.
Surrounding you with kind whispers as it flows.

The sinking twilight red sun embraces your sorrow.
As you wonder in joy if your life ends tomorrow.

Singing crickets with their song enriches the starlit night.
As hope anticipates, tomorrow will be bright.

I woke up with a beautiful, loving face waiting for me.
As my brother Jesus hugged me warmly, setting me free.

We have this time around.
Thus all will fade.
Millenniums underground.
As bones turn to clay.
It is deeply profound.
To kneel down and pray.
For we know not that hour.
Nor the last day.

Matthew 24:36.

squeezed like an orange to get the last drop
craving solar energy's darts of elixir
extracting the last of summer vitality
in an eleventh hour effort
to caress every curve
of this diverse globe

meanwhile wishes and prayers
are tossed freely just
in case anyone out there
makes a career of hauling in
hopes and dreams cast out
desperately to the sky above

heartwrenching as it may be
a heartfelt goodbye
poignant as if it might be the last
should life never wake
from harshness of oncoming winter

ON MY VERY LAST DAY

If today was my very last day
All of my love will be on full display
I would tell you I love you so much
As my heart has a great rush
I will miss my family and friends dearly
To my very end
In Heaven, I will remember the great times together
And these will always be my happiest treasure forever
In my last hours, I want to hold you and never let you go
Just like all the years ago
In my last minute of life don't be sad or mad
In the end, I want you to understand truly
Just remind your friends and family I'm never far away
Because I'm in each one of your hearts, and I'm here to stay
For family and friends always open your lovely heart
No matter how tough it may be for you
Take advantage of every moment that you get
Because you never know that moment may be your last

THE LAST DAY

THE LAST DAY

A day you don't have option,
A day death will be your companion.
A day you won't see the light,
A day your loved one tell you good night.

A day the grave will be your home,
A day your lifeless body can't roam.
A day your beautiful body turn dust
A day everything in life turn lust.

A day everyone won't see you again,
A day your body won't feel pain
A day your creator face judgement,
A day there won't be sentiment.

The last day, your last moment,
The last day, your last statement
The last day, you won't live,
The last day, no one will survive..

1. If you could look into your future and choose one day to see what would happen, what day would that be and why...

~~~
When death calls my name, as I walk my last mile,
Will the stars shine like they did the night afore?
Twinkling in still skies, glittering to beguile.
When the end comes will I know what to adore?
Will the tears fall or will I fear death’s dark call?
Will the stars shine like they did the night afore?
When time has passed, will the end come at nightfall?
Or will I learn death may bring joy to my soul?
Will the tears fall or will I fear death’s dark call?
When I pass, will God send down hope to console?
Will I remember the good, forget the bad?
Or will I learn death may bring joy to my soul?
When hearts remember my light, will they be glad?
Did I leave this world better than it once was?
Will I remember the good, forget the bad?
I hope I gave someone a reason to pause.
When death calls my name, as I walk my last mile,
Did I leave this world better than it once was?
Twinkling in still skies, glittering to beguile.
Last day of the year
31 Dec 2023 5:58 AM
It is the last day of the year
Will you be grateful or full of false cheer
Will you remember the times that God pulled you through
Or try to forget with drugs and brew
Temporary highs last a short while
And when you come down your troubles are in piles
Gods forgiveness is forever His love is true
He will organize your problems and help you through
Don't waste your time with worry and regret
Repent now and be free from sins debt
In this world your tribulations will come
But Christ gives His peace and your worry is done
So leave 2023s trials behind
And make heaven your goal in heart and mind
God bless and Happy new year and new life
Premium MemberMy Last Day
Welcome to my last day
You’re lookin’ really good today
Your beauty radiates against my brain
Seeing you bring tears to my eyes
It’s my last day
It’s my final day before you
Thanks for dressing up
In your boots with that summer dress that took my heart for a ride
It’s my last day
Take your time but don’t take too long
It’s my last day today
You took my breath away for so long with those smoldering lips of yours
Come again some other day but today it’s my last day
Just go
It’s what you do best
So just go
It’s my last day
Premium MemberEver Ending
Why wait 'til the end?
Treat all experiences
as if they were the last for you.
Savor every moment, sight, sound, feeling, embrace,
as you would on your last day, in your last hour.
For you never know,
It could turn out to be
Your very last one, ever.
She held the razor blade in her hand..
Trembling, she reflects on her life.
Lost and alone in her dark thoughts..
Of her failures as a mother and wife.
Trying to find anything to give her hope..
But there's nothing left to grasp.
She's discarded, iscolated and empty..
There's no one to help or even to ask.
She's so overwhelmed with grief..
Accepting what she's about to do.
Knowing her actions will hurt everyone..
But she just can't see another day through.
She's tired and has no purpose..
Too old to start over again.
Being alive is too heavy a burden..
She no longer wants to live in pain.
Maybe she loved too much?
And gave too many chances away.
But her heart can't take anymore..
So today will be her last day!
Last Day
i knew tomorrow wasn't to be.
in the fleeting daylight i had left
i sang. and i wrote letters. smelled the rain.
brushed my hair. i looked through old photos and i
told my mother i missed her.
sometimes i forgot that i was dying.
and even so, with nothing to give or lose or feel or fear
i couldn't tell him that it hurt less to die than to
wish i could have been loved by him.
Premium MemberOur Last Day On Earth
Our last day on earth, if today
Are we in surrender
Do bliss throbs within yet hold sway
Last hurrah a wonder
Is our release complete
With head bowed at God’s feet
Vibrant, with joy replete
Will it be in mirth
Our last day on earth
