On May 11th, Hawaii did declare,
The pandemic's end, no longer a scare.
Federal word, the last state to know,
Preparing for changes in the vaccine flow.
Medicaid shifts, seniors in plight,
September 24th, the end in sight.
In early June, insurers did call,
Reassessing coverages, answers to stall.
July brought news, uncertain and grim,
Doctors from Honolulu, prospects dim.
August 13th, a reevaluation came,
Insurance updates, changes to name.
September 4th, last talks in the air,
Doctors and insurers, a tangled affair.
Neighbors noticed a front lanai void,
Paramedics broke in, stained glass destroyed.
September 30th, Hilo Hospital's care,
Unconscious, admitted, a fate to bear.
Rehabilitating now, seeking what's just,
Attorney in tow, a lawsuit a must.
In court, on the prosecutor's side,
Facing defenses, where Luigi will bide.
From issue to hope, a journey so grand,
Manus, Festus, Infestus – a fight at hand.

Valley Haven
Swooping down across the valley,
Glistening green sequins reflecting the sun,
Dozens of green parrots playfully rally
As their sunset ritual has begun.
Misty rain along valley walls
Brings a mystical Hawaiian rainbow
Sweetening the air as it gently falls
Enlivening the tropical foliage below.
I watch, enchanted, from my lanai
Awed by nature's brilliant display
Surely, none is more fortunate than I
To dwell in such beauty, day by day.
My refuge during this challenging time
With the world appearing tempest tossed
This valley exudes an atmosphere sublime
Assuring me that hope is not lost.

Cupid the sweet saintling of Love Village decided to go visit Hawaii
Always dressed in a dapper diaper he looked love struck and dashing
with frosty gold hair combed just so and silver tip wings oh so fancy
he pours love into hearts quicker than a penny in a bucket goes, ping !
When he landed on land he saw pineapples and Hawaiian luaus too
rounded hips slow swaying and voices greeting him like an old friend
They draped leis on his shoulders then said "welcome to Honolulu"
where dreams come true for everyone, yes we got the magic blend;
So they put him on a pedestal for he was after all messenger of love
he surfed in Lanai, Pineaple Island of sweet , oh you should see Him
shooting arrows as he walked on water, fitting them all like a glove
Lei skirts ruffled and feet shuffled, as the stars shone beneath a rim
They danced and they danced far into the night for love was finally here
Cupid did it once again in his dapper diaper and gold tipped spear.

Nocturne shadow, rise with the Flamingo
charmed by the sunrise a morning sky smiles.
hushed morning song whispers at my window.
Prone on the pillow; love the outer isles.
Daydreams wander; my fan begins the day
sands twinkle like brilliant diamonds sparkling
Winds blow the deep blue waters on the bay.
Tea's steeping as the teapot is whistling.
Old cat yawns awake in the morning light.
dandelion seeds float by with the breeze
grass flows serenely terns hover in flight
waves rise higher on Lanai's southern seas.
Kilauea rumbles the Big Islands shore
I see a reddish haze from my back door.

Every day my first cup of coffee is most enjoyed
sitting alone in a cushioned chair on my lanai
when all the thoughts and ideas with which I toyed
seemed like logical solutions to world crises, then I
wondered why no one really gave a fig.

Me sitting on a folding chair
Maria lent us for the initial days
In the middle of an empty room
Next to a computer on a small folding table
Billy, our cat, fearfully inching between the lanai door
Looking at the shades of the leaves
The breezy bushes and the sun play on the lanai walls
We listen attentively to the new pleasant sounds
Made by the gentle warm breeze playing with the leaves
Occasionally interrupted by the sound of the water birds
We are learning to discern these sounds
Of the Florida’s little nature around the house
It’s the art of discerning, to cut out the disturbing
The monotonous humming of the interstate 75
That passes in a hearing distance to our house
Nothing is ever perfect, even the nature's sounds

Lovely is the rain
Streaming down on my lanai
Quickly starts to wane
Trees perk up and flowers sigh
Never even knowing why
