Tribute To Labors On Labor Day

To hands that toil from dawn till night,
In sun's harsh blaze or fading light,
You build the world we proudly see,
With silent strength and dignity.

You mend the roads, you sow the land,
With weathered skin and calloused hands.
Your sweat is ink on history's page,
Your spirit—brave, no gilded cage.

No marble hall, no silver throne,
Can stand without the stone you've thrown.
Each brick you lay, each crop you tend,
Is proof of love that doesn't bend.

You are the heart, the pulse, the flame,
Too long unsung, too often unnamed.
But on this day, we lift you high,
Beneath the flag, beneath the sky.

May justice walk where you have led,
May fair reward meet daily bread.
The world may rest, the rich may play,
Because you rise each breaking day.

For all you've given, all you've done,
For battles lost and victories won,
We thank you now with humbled grace;
The world is better for your place.

THE PARAGON OF STRENGTH

Oh, man, a marvel of creation's might,
A distinctive being, with zeal and passion bright.
Ever ready to toil, to provide and to sustain,
The weight of family responsibilities, he bears with no complaint.

From dawn till dusk, he labors with unwavering dedication,
Enduring the slings of insult, from superior and subordinate's desecration.
His strength, a wonder to behold, a testament to his unyielding will,
For the sake of loved ones, he perseveres, his spirit unbroken still.

Oh, man, who can compare your strength?
A pillar of resilience, in the face of life's length.
Yet, as you care for others, heed this solemn refrain,
Remember to tend to yourself, lest you suffer in vain.

For when you're gone, others will remain,
Your wife, a new love may obtain,
Your children, grown, will forge their own way,
Leaving you, dear man, to face eternity's day.

So take time to check yourself, to heal and to mend,
To indulge in life's pleasures, and to be happy, dear friend.
For in the grand tapestry of life, your thread is unique and fine,
Weave it with care, dear man, and make your life's rhyme divine.

Rest From My Labors

Rest From My Labors
by Lanier Thomas

I’ve been acquainted with war and violence
And escaped, me thought, to a land of silence.
But war followed me and gave me no rest, hence
I must meet, face to face, war’s dread countenance.

I will have no peace till my foes lie in death;
No rest, till mine enemy spends his last breath.
I bid my love goodbye and shoulder my pack;
Pick up my gun, knowing not if I’ll be back.

I’ll love you beyond the valley of my death;
I will wait for you where love ever liveth.
But God will judge the right of what I have done,
And I’ll dwell in the eternal land I’ve won.

Saboteur

Gleeful roses turn to sullen churls,
And virgin smiles of shyest brides
Soonest morph into widowed furls;
Sad victims of your ill-bladed tides.

Swearing lovers of staunchest troth
Must sample your bitterest swill too,
And forfeit bonds of grandest worth,
As you gaily gloat like vilest foes do.

Most ardent toilers all hours round
In shady hands fattest gains leave,
Mowed to abysses dark worlds far;
To aliens you their ripe labors give.

And not even sure-shooting hunters still,
Can with all probity wait to taste their kill.
Bards of sharpest wits and niftiest tropes,
Thus must bow and trim ink’s wild hopes.

Your dial’s dual fangs envenom all matter,
And you’re Joy’s most culpable Saboteur!

Life's Labors Lost

She thought she was a coffee barista!
Alas, she found at this, shewas far from being an artista!

She headed off next to the nearest, prestigious
bartender school.

Indeed, the clumsy woman, made a perfect drink
but broke her leg, tripping over a bar stool!

She then, took only jobs that required no motion,
Just sitting jobs became her golden rule!

Of The Famed Labors Of Hercules
ninth poet, poet dedication series, Emma Lazarus

Through Time's mesmerizing and meandering paths,
Colossus of heroic worship rightly praised,
He that vented his strength and fought with half-god wrath;
Mighty Son of Zeus, his feats that this world amazed,
Carved in stone, sculptor Vincenzo de’ Rossi hand
Paid for by Cosimo I de’ Medici's gold,
A Titan born into brave heart of Grecian lands,
His tales endure and will forever be told.
Image of his labors, Bargello Palace once held
When bravest of heroes were admired and lauded,
Strong and powerful were dark monsters his hands felled;
As true Greek warriors sang of and applauded.
Mythical hero representing Greek freedom
A giant, famous pride of ancient Greek kingdom.

Twelve Labors

In punishment now
My labor be done
By Heaven divine
Conviction is won

Twelve efforts twelve years
Too much to conceive
With club and a bow
Although I'm bereaved

The mighty enforce
Has stolen the day
From King and alike
And naught but to say...

"I've finished these deeds
You've asked to perform
I must go back home
And weather the storm

A family gone
Now shredded to tears
The labor undone
I go face my fears"

Ever flowing nearing shore.
No more suffering.

Labors of Love As You Wait

Labor and perform your duties as you patiently wait
to enter that Divine , Heavenly, and Pearly Gate.
Continually be clothed in your Spiritual Armor,
knowing that Satan is tricky and quite a charmer!

Labors of Love

I've tried to be patient
I've tried to understand
I've stood by your side
Because you're my man

I've put up with your lies
I've put up with your ways
I've heard many stories
And yet I stay

I've given my love
I've given my trust
I've given my all
For what, your lust?

I've opened my arms
I've opened my life
I've opened those doors
To include any strife

I put up with much
I get very little
I give all I can
This is my acquittal

So if you're not happy
And you have to question my love
You better take note
These are the labors of love!
