I hold in my hand Mama's old fold-up Kodak
In its steel-blue case shut with a tiny curved silver latch.
I carefully unlatch it, watch the worn-out flaky bellows
Extend like an unwelcome, nonfunctional ********,
Emitting a strange smell I remember from my childhood
Seventy years ago, when Mama sternly warned,
"Don't let me catch you playing with my camera! "
But I did, every chance I got; it beckoned to me
Like the epitome of enticement, the soft furry succulent
Cactus she warned us kids never to touch.
But I did, once … once, believe me, and never after!
And I said her camera was the only thing I wanted
That belonged to her when she was gone.
The cactus wrinkled and died years ago from lack of care.

Accomplishing something plenty you got
Captured as a whole in your life snapshot
Takes after a Kodak moment caught
On the screen, pictures flicker a·do
Everyone smiling, life happenings in view
Great im·ag·ings, moments in time, toodle-oo
Are creations from the moment shows
If tis' not develop 'n compose
Give it again, one's best shot dose

"A Kodak Moment"
yummy pumpkin pie baking in pie crust pan
hubby playing Chef, he's my kinda man
but with five ornery pets
while their appetite gets
shake, rattle and roll chimed from tin can.
the oven whistled steamy and hot
soon the Chef lost his temper, threw a pot
puppies scattered for cover
as two kitties did hover
kitchen looked like the land time forgot,
laughter is the best medicine to cure
any nasty situation one might endure
a kodak moment to smile
lasts longer than a little while
pumpkin pie still holds magical allure.

At last the house is silent, they are tucked away and sleeping
Tomorrow down the winding stairs we'll see them all come leaping!
Their faces bright and shining, the wrappings will be torn
Upon the face each child has worn, a Kodak moment will be born
On early Christmas morn!

Simple melodies fill the air,
a tender hand threads though his hair.
Rocking motion, sleepy eyes,
restless spirit, little cries.
Fighting sleep afraid to miss,
one second of life and it’s bliss.
Calming peace begins to fall,
as the crying begins to stall.
Mother now extremely tired,
from a son that has been wired.
Sleep now consuming her,
afraid to move or even stir.
Mother and child fast asleep,
a kodak moment to keep.
