Cold Beer Takes Him To a Wrong Venue

It was not my plan to be here.
I was drawn hither by cold beer
Thither, Hell’s heat too stiff to bear
Nor should I to it flesh spare…

And, now, everywhere noise is near.
You know I don’t drink and keep fear
Noise, next full storm and life is dear.
So leave I should: try some calm rear

 O Azrael, angel of death carrying a scythe

In his heart was an intense glow
After his seeming superb show:
An unsurpassed Philistine Throw
Until whistled “A Disallowing No”
That nearly javelin blood flow
Stopped from his head to toe
And a seizure wired like a blow …

Clear that a bank account won’t grow,
A once hot spirit is icy snow;
For all this rousing with the cock’s crow!

From prehistoric stone there was sharpened a point then a spike:
chiselled and engraved and hoisted and thrust,
raised high above men toward a target lofty, afar in a field.

Competitors rose from primordial waters, 
harpooning dreams and dripping ambition,
tired and bruised but practiced and hopeful.

What charms your whim, your fun,
Each day when you’re alone?
The things you ponder and get up to,
That’s not on the telephone.

Collecting tea bag cloaks,
Or going around javelin catching with

Into beautiful greens and blues,
Or maybe you like to appear behind
