Guest speaker was Mr Shaw-Twilley
I guffawed, his surname’s so silly
I slipped him a fiver
To say my name’s Ivor
It sounded like I’ve a Short willy
N B Shaw-Twilley is a real surname!

Be careful what you put in here
for soon it’s going to disappear
and start its journey through your gut
into the place that you then put
upon a seat in smallest room
where then expelled it makes more room
for mouth to welcome more inside
to once again join in this ride.
Spiced or bland or sweet or sour
whatever things that you devour
must make the same intestinal ride
but differ in their slip and slide
while some go calmly, some go slow
there’s ones who must resist the flow
and scratching, burning in their haste
are painful when expelled as waste.
So bearing all of this in mind
I think that all of you will find
if you take care what enters in
the place where gluttony is sin
that when your food is spent at last
at journeys end when all is passed
you’ll get a thank you from your bum
…….…for all mouth’s joy is not his fun!

Heaven quakes as death draws near
As Halloween bring back its fright,
Lifting the veil where demons spawn
Lets Hell free to rape this night.
Occult terrors from the pit
Who wear the devil’s mark
Eagerly their victims seek
Enveloped by the dark.
No hope, nor faith, nor charity can stop this damned insanity!

I'm scared of ghosties, scared of ghouls,
I won't go out tonight.
I'll hide under my blankets,
and tremble there in fright.
I'm not a silly little kid
who's nightmares make him squeal.
I'm an educated Englishman
who knows that ghosts are real!
I've spent a lot of time with ghosts
(but not at Halloween).
I've seen them, heard them, felt them,
and in their homes I've been.
I brought them into our world,
to visit for a while.
I've made them welcome with their friends,
to laugh and joke and smile.
I've also seen some others
who weren't so very nice.
I've helped to send them on their way,
and offered folks advice,
on how to avoid contact with the ones
who are obscene.
So take advice from one who knows,
STAY HOME AT HALLOWEEN!

How pleased we are that you're not dead,
you stayed inside and went to bed?
Alas, I had to go out twice
and met some folk who weren't too nice.
With eggs in hand, they didn't care
that older people got a scare.
Not from spirits in the night,
but gangs of youths out for a fight.
I also saw some tiny tots
with bags of sweets in cauldron pots.
Gifts from those who'd met the sight
of ‘demon' children out at night,
dressed like devils straight from hell
and ringing on their front door bell.
Apart from what some fools had done,
most folk shared in a good nights fun.
I also met some things from hell
that filled the air with putrid spell
searching for some souls to rape
as Halloween opened the gate.
With Angels walking by my side
we shut their gate, with them inside.
But you survived to tell the tale,
your dreams, this time, let you prevail….

Woe is me I’m lost not found
my feet not planted on the ground,
life is wrong and never right
poor me must always see no light.
Shadows overcast my soul
and nothing ever leaves me whole
I lack support from one and all
none come to help each time I fall.
None understand my misery
or want to hear the way I see
the world just crumbling all around
with nowhere any pleasure found.
Woe is me, it is not fun
I have to walk when others run,
there’s nothing that I’ve ever find
can take this misery from my of mind.

The end of the world is now nigh
the signs are all clear in the sky.
With tempest and storm
and tsunamis that warn
of disasters that leave all forlorn.
When the earth says enough is enough
and nature decides to play rough.
Devastation will reign
bringing slaughter and pain
awash with the blood of the slain.
So please heed the words that I say
and have fun while you can every day.
With fun, zest and zeal
find the joy you can steal
before meeting the earth’s final deal.
Let’s face up to our fate with a prayer
although we are faced with despair.
If we pray to our God
he may just spare the rod
letting you in with a wink and a nod.

Science yet can’t find the link
to what it is that makes us think,
to what it is that guides our way
and makes our choices day by day.
No proof that good or bad exist,
no evidence upon their list,
no theories that can shine a light
on what is meant by wrong or right.
So lacking proof for what is plain
man had to find a different game,
in many ways these games were sought
to find the reason for our thought.
God appeared in many ways
to give man reason for his ways,
and just to balance right and wrong
the Devil now joined in man’s song.
So now content with mankind's song
he found his thoughts could get along
with others of his chosen kind
and didn’t have to blame his mind.
But maybe good and bad exist
as living things that science missed
and influence our every day
and guide the way that mankind play.
Then monasteries are goodness source
to spread out goodness, but much worse
our prisons shelter evil’s power
and spread this evil hour by hour.
It could be science one day will find
some things exist beyond man’s mind
and really give us food for thought
about the things that we’ve been taught.

Living with the dead can be
a little scary if you see
the ones you knew who passed away
come back to you to have their say.
Maybe they've come to you tonight
to give you just a horrid fright
or let you know when you'll die too
or where you'll go when you pass through?
They may have come to try to tell
that they went straight to heaven or hell
or now released from living's shell
they're still alive and doing well.
But if with them you won't converse
they'll go away and what is worse
you'll miss the chance to great your friend
and learn what happens in the end.
If you refuse to let them in
this really would be quite a sin
and not the thing that you should do
when friends arrive to visit you
So if you wish to take advise
forget your fear and be quite nice
you then may find some comfort too
and even learn a thing or two.
For ghost are not all demons who
would steal the soul God gave to you.
Most just come to see a friend
and reassure death's not the end.
So please don't think you're going mad
or let their visits make you sad.
Welcome them just like before
you thought they'd gone for evermore.

Imagine a world
without any God,
could we then spare the child
without using the rod?
Would peace come to the world,
there'd be no one to blame
for all of the wars
that are fought in his name!
If God's the excuse
for everything good,
then why are his subjects hands
covered in blood?
Though God may bring comfort
when in times of need,
misery and suffering
spring forth from God’s seed!

I know I am clever and I am not thick
but final exams tend to make me feel sick.
I’m sure they’re a way to ensure I see
that I’m not as bright as I’m meant to be.
I’ve attended my classes and learned all I could
revised and revised as much as I should.
so why am I feeling that I’ll never know
all of the answers exams at me throw.
Being quite happy is normally my way
but sitting exams makes me panic each day.
I’ve done my revision so how can I lose
but still find I suffer from pre exam blues
I sure I’ll get A’s in all that I do
except for the F’s and the D’s in a few.
but maybe ‘m thick, oh I don’t really know,
(should I stay at home and not bother to go).
Time is the answer when all’s said and done,
it then may be worth butterflies in my tum
for if I do well it will be worth all the pain
for then I can study for more tests again!

Praise a poet for his work
and splendor he’ll unfold,
stifle him with words that hurt,
and all will stay untold.
For only when his ego’s stroked
will you be sure to see
fine poetry flow from his pen,
spurred on by you and me.
For inspiration comes his way
depending on his mood
for seeing what his critics say
is where he finds his food.
The story of our poet friend
applies to you and me,
for praise can lift us to our best
and set our spirits free.
So let the poet in your soul
ride on the praise of peers
while any words that undermine
should fall on deafest ears!

If we could wish upon a star
and see our wish come true
the only thing we could wish for
is what we cannot do.
To bring our daughter back to us
without her earthly pain
for memories now are all we have
since parting was such pain.
I know there's other parents
who have shared our darkest night
but children shouldn't go first
we should be their leading light.
Although I speak the mysteries
of the mind within the soul
within our hearts we suffer
from a huge big gaping hole.
We strive for reassurance
that at last we'll meet again
but until then, like others,
we just learn to live with pain.
