Life - Cherish the Day

As we awake from a slumber
Life begins to unfold
And what we do in those moments
Of course, Is yet to be known

Typically, we do what we value
Instinctually we repeat it our whole life
Sometimes it works in our favor
Sometimes it becomes our worst vice

So now we are here
Good or bad, it is so
Inquisitive, some seek out knowledge
Defeated, some would rather not know

The greatest cause of our suffering
Is our resistance to what is
You can accept life for what's happening
Or you can be miserable wishing you never lived

Life is truly indifferent
So try to accept whatever life brings our way
There will be joy and suffering
Life - an opportunity to cherish the day

We live in a time
Where people will
Instantly and instinctually
Grab their cell phones
To record someone in need of help
Instead of rushing to help them
And I wonder…
What did they do before they owned one?

A Void Dance

It’s medicinal,
Matters of the heart,
Once felt,
Can risk being torn apart.
Abandoned,
Left forsaken,
This soul of mine,
Where has it been taken?
Wish I could awaken,
I used to dream,
One day it’ll be me,
Instead
Fortitude has forgotten me,
Begotten not devotion,
But constant misfortune
Considering they all flee,
Or use me,
Yearning in abandonment
Left to question
Will it ever be me?
Concealed in self-reliance,
Feigned in self love,
This long awaited arrival,
Drowns me in suspicion.
More like skepticism,
Maybe I should give up?
Instinctually I hear this voice,
Time upon time telling me to
‘Stay the course’,
Though it feeds me none,
I strive to carry on,
Neglecting any oncoming negative,
Disarming the pain
Avoiding lingering on and disheartened,
Or even stoned by some.
When you’re alone in company,
Don’t be fooled by the stars,
Stellar remnants cold to the core
Seem to associate amongst the clusters
Often the brightest ones
Start small
create their own diversion
from matters of the heart,
be it a supernova or a black hole sun.

Premium MemberDear Id

Dear Id,

Once again, I find my mind making the same journey into your deepest ocean of questions I can never fathom. So many times I've told myself it's such a complete waste of time to even cast my cares upon your unyielding waters. I have been utterly lost for days at a time trying to find my way back through the labyrinth of my mind. The air feels heavy and breathing has nothing to do with want or desire. For as long as I can remember, my reflection has been as an ever evolving meaningless Rorschach. No identifiable constants, just a tangled mess of emotion with a gaping hole of disappointment in the life experience. I ask myself, "Is this it?" The overwhelming outpouring of human pretentiousness and superficiality leaves me dying of starvation for anything real! Will it even matter? How can I miss something I've never known and be so instinctually convinced there is more? Enlighten me!

Truly,
Frustrated and Unfulfilled

Premium MemberThe Fallible Theory

We were born into a sabotaged life,
Darwin's Theory of Evolution.
Protruding branches trapped by the tree of life,
but sunlight produces chlorophyll, the attribution revolution.

We had to fight to be born,
against gravity, disease and other sperm.
Millions of others we outperformed,
instinctually toughened like a pachyderm.

But something goes wrong once we leave the womb,
our skin is soft and we need love to survive.
Checkmate, milk and sustenance, the mothers legume,
the real challenge arrived it has, learning to stay alive.

An Easier Way With a Softer Touch

An easier way with a softer touch
Lighter steps, leave chuckling footprints
Shallower still, until the end of it all

Flight or descent,
Innocently confused,
Instinctually separated

One occurrence
declares a difference
After Another
Boundaries blur

Concentrated caution
Mind, Gritty like sand
These childish judgments
impart hysterical scars

Soothing or Seething?
Pushing or pulling?
Laughing and crying
living or dying?

Sunrise

There was a wave of emotion thrown from the crimson bathed sea.
As the warmth of the morning sunlight wrapped it's blanket around me.
The water below being thrown against the rugged rocks with ease.
Then instinctually followed by a luke warm breeze.
I stand by the seaside and watch the colours off the morning sky.
It fills me with so much pleasure that I feel a tear fall from my eye.
I watch as the colours of the sky
Mix and match together as if moved by an artists hand.
A brush stroke here and a brush stroke there until it looks elegant and grand.
An image of beauty, the summer morning sunlight.
An image which my memory will hold tight.

Aries Birthed By Cancer

Aggressive pursuit for what I desire
Reigned in by none, my sign burns of fire
Instinctually drawn to lead, not follow
Eager to conquer, my pride I can't swallow
Savoring life with every breadth of my being

Bold thinking, quick to impress
Intelligent, witty....anger makes me quick to digress
Relishing spontaneity as I live for a moment
Thinking independently...If I think it, I own it
Head strong and innovative
Equally, though, sensitive
Defensive of those I love

Behind this Rams exterior are some traits of another
Your intimate soul is connected to mother

Crab claws offset ram horns, cradling care
Aware of feelings...deftly aware
Never melancholy, emotionally charged
Caleidascope of color, mood range enlarged
Ever evolving state of being
Relating to others, empathetic eyes seeing
