The Departing of the Heart

The Departing of The Heart

Salutations for the sound of mind and poverty of heart
Reparations that don’t come through in time to rectify the start
Commiserations for the ones who find it hardest to eventually part
Palpitations of another heart that cannot perceive the concept that it must depart

Military consequences that send the young men out to war
Conciliatory influences of the leaders who target hiring of the poor
Crematory inferences necessary as they knock on heavens door
An Adversary without recompense that helps me get up off the floor

Kindness for the people that are on daily parade
Blindness from the steeple as we play Holy charades
They Find less sympathy for the feeble as they huddle close and afraid
Passing through the eye of a needle as the ferryman gets paid

Interjections from the galley as the defendant begins to cry
Objections in a midnight alley as the amendment causes him to deny
Rejections of the black sheep in a family as without her flock she’ll surely die
Comprehensions of the urgency that communicate in sighs

A Poetic Message

You can't always hope to know what's in my mind,
but if there's something that suits you - that's fine;
don't write just for you, your readers like something,
be gracious, accept defeat, don't think they need therapy.

There's a thing about English, some others think better,
but it's not just grammar, rather colloquial inferences,
of which they lack understanding and all the nuances,
they're important, whether you think they're trite or not.

I do not claim to know all things and neither should you,
the love shines through, don't be critical of a stupid typo;
I won a competition in white, gold and indigo blue,
to think that some poets had respect for what I do.

I'll give you leeway but next time I won't be so lenient,
if you're worried about rhyming, don't because it's convenient,

Ode To the Poeters Obsessiveness

Thoughts honed to a razor’s edge
The dictionary and thesaurus be my whetstones
Set atop my stalwart quadrupedal aide
Pulverized hemlocks be my stationary cohort
A hewn cedar be cylindrical partner in rhyme
A sooty viscous slurry be my workmate
The milky sap of the arborist companion be my reviser
Time; unlimited; to be committed to sonnetifcation
Mete by minute or by days…to precompose
To choreograph the mind’s breadth of complexity
To see the inferences…laid out; covertly or overtly
Upon reaching a draft of my pre-thoughts; spelt out
To reave the uncomplicatedness from each line
Leaving nothing unprinted upon the page.

Beastly Burdens In My Life

Beastly burdens of life
Millstones round my neck
Not that I malign my wife
For in my eyes beastly burdens of life emulate a sneaking snake

Writhing on the hard road
Through life I travel
On my head perching an abnormal load
Of which I never cease to marvel

Although pressure my neck oppresses
Enjoying a free ride
As twinges of pain pressure stresses
With unabashed pride

Driven to extremes
That hurt, hurt and hurt
So sharply they satirize dames
To whom sweet nothings I blurt

Not that to me it matters or flatters
Whether dames don long or short
In gild letters that decry fetters
As they snort

Raising my ire
With candour
Warmed on a cold night by the fire
Fanned by the parallax of pain odour

A neurotransmitter smells
Telling me I’m lying
When burden spells and scales
Confirm I’m sighing and flying

Despite averse appearances
That on the grapevine seem to glorify and aggrandize gossip
Inferences on my circumstances
Which in a vacuum peep, weep and fall asleep.

Allude To

always were
somehow
able to seemly
advertently
but at the
same time
deliberately
imply
inferences
that
alluded to
a future
in a distant
out of reach
time and place
in a land
far far
away were
unicorns play
all day in the
sun

Bent Elucidations

A Foreigner in a land of chicanery, can't see the forest nor
destiny aimlessly adrift tween dusky skylines searching
'pon comet-like nights, 'neath the shine of absurdity
mistaking stardust for certainty, there was an inkling
once upon a brief interlude 'tween misconceptions,
when the sun ravished moonbeams and earth split
its gravitational force wrenching an indubitable forfeiture,
examining life from otherwise similar sides of continuum's
unfathomable folds, careening beyond askew gradient elucidations
into abstruse significance 'midst hallelujah inferences weeping,
misleading each sway of deceptive constructs yielding complexities'
mid psychotic beliefs, invariably questioning timeless persuasions

Plastic Faces

Once I used to see
flowery smiles,
fruitful friendships,
 and ocean-deep loving hearts.

Decades after,
now I have no expectations...
I make no inferences
at the plastic faces looking at me;
lip-length hellos accosting me;
and those shallow hearts
spread before me.

Thinking of the changed world
I looked at myself in the mirror
and tried to smile
Nay! No expression!
There, staring at me
a weird plastic face!

There is too much hate in the world. Leave it out of the Soup. Here is my flower child
scoop: “Make love not war.”

Eileen Manassian

I'm NOT a flower child, but this quotation from that era is pertinent today. Innuendos
and sarcasm, implications hoping for inferences have no place here. We all need to
heed this advice from Paul.

New International Version (Romans 13:8)
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another.

By Any Means

I continue to struggle, because the trouble never stops
Running away from stress, but the cycles tied in a knot
And I confess, I've walked through the shadow of the valley of death
But I held my rod and got comfortable, and I finished my quest

Now we're back to the beginning, the cycle is never ending
I can remember the darkness, but the daylight is winning
I went through the sinning, and I know that there's more to come
But I'm still the same person, it's like you froze over the sun

Through dreams I'm keeping it real, but fiction is never far
My reality is based on the wound that causes the scar
Lucid dreaming, I'm in control of my path, my goals
You're reading it out of context, and taking away my soul

The quick assumptions, are nothing but inferences
Not only wrong, you want the truth, well you're missing it
Truth is, I make my decisions and I know my mistakes
I know my friends and I'm not surrounded by slithering snakes

By Any Means, I'll get through the dark of the night
I'll shine my light, and spark the ember that turns bright
So wrong or right, I'll make it to an even brighter day
By Any means, I'll turn around the total disarray

Knots

Sleaziest of deeds were witlessly conceived
Despite the vows once promised to abide
Lacking penmanship in the art of a game you designed
Drawing blank inferences where the heftiest of prices reside
I'll be kicking the barrell from beneath you
Watching your gasp in all your impetuous pride
Your tarred lungs stifling for air
Nearing the end, barely alive
While hung on a rope
By knots you willfully tied
Cringing at the nostalgical arisements
Mere beggar of the love once denied
Mirage like chance that you'll survive
You created this monster, this Jekyll and Hyde

True Love

T he only thing she ever did was to be there when he needed,
R emoving all of the barriers that left him weary and defeated.
U nrequited love should not be attempted by the faint of heart,
E very ounce she’d give happily if only she could play the part.

L onging looks from across the room she’d sneak a little peek,
O nce he returned her gaze and it made her knees grow week.
V ague inferences and unclear signals fill her spinning head
E vading all possibility of rejection by ever asking what he said.
